"Tears in My Eyes" Great song from Uriah Heep a year after this one! C i T is great!! Those end chorus highs are the highest sounds I've ever heard out of a male lead vocal! 33 years for me. Missed regular listening for the first 18!
LMBO sounds about right sounds like something l would do, they would say turn that crap down What I Can't Hear you oh you don't like my music well I don't like yours so get over it start playing some head banging music just to make them mad LoL I've actually done it before😆
@@lizzy0888 I do that too. My upstairs neighbors were banging on the floor cuz I had my guitar amp on. It wasn't even that loud. So I cranked it up louder. They threw a bottle down onto my balcony. I cranked it up even more and shit in a cardboard box, gift wrapped it, and put it outside their door.
Absolutely, positively, the most outrageous/insane/perfect song ever performed, no doubt! The vocals, the guitar work, the keyboards and the drums were as good as it gets. Perfection, folks!!
Deep Purple was the first rock & roll concert I went to. We were all of 12 at the time. My buddy was floored when I told him there were only 7 songs in the show. Well, nearly 3 hours later, those were the best 7 songs ever! Keep on Space Trucking Deep Purple!
Believe me , when I listen to child in time , I get into another dimension, I feel that we miss this music nowadays, as rock takes another destination far from what it was in the 60s and 70s
Ricochet is a second hand hit of a bullet as it hits something and changes course to Hit something else. If you shoot a gun against a wall you might accidentaly shoot yourself on the "ricochet".The song uses this in a spiritual way. "If you've been bad, and I know you have, you may doge the lead, But it'll rocochet back to you, for it was meant for you!! ... unless you bow your head and admit your guilt!!..." , something like that!. Deep Purple lyrics are quite spiritual as this one is.
Ahh I remember in my high school days driving from Anaheim to Huntington Beach to go surfing , smoking a joint during our drive and listening to this song on the way.. great motivator. Surfs up y'all.
Clocking in at 10:15, “Child In Time” (1970) is a protest song to the United States’ war in Vietnam. In 2002, lyricist and lead vocalist Ian Gillan explained : “There are two sides to that song - the musical side and the lyrical side. On the musical side, there used to be this song ‘Bombay Calling’ [1969] by a band called It’s A Beautiful Day. It was fresh and original, when Jon [Lord] was one day playing it on his keyboard. It sounded good, and we thought we’d play around with it, change it a bit and do something new keeping that as a base. But then, I had never heard the original ‘Bombay Calling.’ So we created this song using the Cold War as the theme, and wrote the lines ‘Sweet child in time / You’ll see the line.’ That’s how the lyrical side came in. Then Jon [Lord] had the keyboard parts ready and Ritchie [Blackmore] had the guitar parts ready. The song basically reflected the mood of the moment, AND THAT’S WHY IT BECAME SO POPULAR.” Metallica Lars Ulrich cited Deep Purple’s “Child In Time” as one of his favorite songs of all time, stating : “This is their most iconic moment”‼️ 💜🎼💜
He means "if you've been bad" and not been punished yet... "not been hit by flying lead" you're time is gonna come "wait for the ricochet" the bad things you did will come back and get you in the end.
This music reminds me of my father.. It also prompted me to start playing the drums at age 6... I'm 45 this year.. Deep Purple is embedded in my musical psyche. Thank you guys. But especially Ian Paice.. There's not many of us south pawed drummers out there.🎶
I am not tired of listening to this wonderful, amasing song! And now it reminds me in every single cell of body my wonderful husband, who was a real rocker!
So pertinent for now with all these children suffering in wars and famines...what are we really doing as human civilisation and without the power of these amazing artists evoking our true humanity we would certainly be truely lost...Suex
Dude same. I only knew it cuz of twister. I was born in 96. Just listened to the full song and holy shit this is good. I can't wait to add this to my recors collection I'm going to start
I'm going to get it now. Listening to this masterpiece today, I still appreciate it as much as when my ears first heard it. Yet, now, it warns me as though my final exhortation, that apart from a radical redirection - I've been accelerating, precipitously so, such that I've forgotten that the ricochet isn't mere figuration, it's really, real. I'm an incontestibly aging man, powerless now, accelerating headlong toward an eternal abyss from which no light escapes yet the screams of grating horror I'm equipt to acutely hear, crying out, wailing imbued by abject misery. No longer a child, I immediately arrive at my journey's. Suddenly, the chorus of chaos silences itself, so I can without excuse hear a crack along the bear distance. It's that one thing, I forgot: the ricochet: I can either take it through the helmet, that fragment about which I completely forgot, or dropped to my knees, bow my head in submission and with supplication that the Lord redeem me from this this eternal pit of abject misery free from the very Source of Goodness from which all that's praiseworthy begins it's flow, then deafening silence. A "crack" I hear in the bear distance followed by a thunderous voice Who booms: "... it is appointed for man to die once, after that comes the Judgement..." And, Don't take that fragment still eternally dead in your sins. There is no quarter, even among those counted among the very best of us, whose helmet's design, material or construction is adequately free from the mire of war rather no more impenetrable than cheap, diaphenous cheese bread. It will not because it can not save my soul from life's just desert: Eternal separation from the source of all Goodness simultaneously condemned among the sea of men who have absentee just like me... We forgot to bow our heads and pray in submission...we forgot, once more, our timeless warning, that thing, that consignor of utter darkness... whoo whoo whoo the wailing starts...
I remeber like yesterday ....when my big brother let my hear for the first time Deep Purple's music , was suddenly and immediately love. So when I was in middle school while the other girls sang Britney, I sang Speed King on bike :)
I'm listening to it for first time in my life. And I just can say this song is unremarkable and simply perfect. Vocals and instruments reminds me of 'Triana' a 70s-80s Spanish band
It's so beautiful. i have only heard the Malmsteen version. I'm a child from the 80's so I rarely listen to stuff from before my time. I was so wrong. All i knew was the song Smoke on the water and Dio + Ritchie in Rainbow.
MrGbere777 If you continue to dig further into that era and into other works from that well-stocked buffet table of iconic classic rock, you'll find quite a kaleidoscopic treasure trove of music that you may enjoy discovering. Those years were a rich creative period with all sorts of varied and eclectic stuff to choose from -- plus sometimes it gives you a look at what may have inspired some of the artists you already know and love. So much out there... Happy hunting!
