Today, two twisted terrors go head to head in a rap battle to prove who the true God is. The evil X from the famous creepypasta, SONIC.EXE, against the "angelic" guardian Gabriel from the popular analog horror, The Mandela Catalogue. Who will take the seat at the top? And, more importantly, why do I get the feeling they're being watched?

sonic.exe (also known as "x" or "exe" for short) is the titular main antagonist of the sonic.exe series. sonic.exe is an eldritch entity taking on the form of sonic the hedgehog that sends out a haunted game disc featuring the creature killing the main sonic characters, eventually leading him to rip out the soul of his victim and making them his slave. the original sonic.exe story centers on tom, a young man who was a big fan of sonic the hedgehog, especially the older games. he claimed that he had not played any glitchy or hacked games before, though he admitted that he didn't want to after an experience he had. the game followed an evil sonic the hedgehog as it killed multiple of sonic's friends. then, a "hyper-realistic" image of sonic appeared on the screen, with the words "i am god!". after the game ended, tom turned around to find, to his utter horror, a bloodied sonic plushie on his bed.
"gabriel" is the true antagonist of the mandela catalogue and the first alternate, a species of shape shifters seemingly wanting control of earth. it is a type two alternate first appearing in overthrone, where it systematically sabotage the annunciation, and presumably prevent christ from being born. after this, it claims itself to be the "one true savior" of humanity, implying that it has taken christ's role in history. this so-called gabriel is a pale-skinned, blond-haired archangel seen wearing white robes. when showing their true appearance their eyes grow in size and their mouth is stretched into a smile. this alternate has some slight differences from true archangel gabriel, such as a longer face and hair and a lack of wings. it is heavily implied that "gabriel" is satan in disguise and alternates are demons.
tails doll is a character that appears in the sonic the hedgehog series. it is a stuffed toy "robot" created by dr. robotnik in the image of miles "tails" prower. this character has been since adapted into many forms of online creepypasta, usually involving a character discovering a copy of sonic r that summons a real life tails doll to their house. there is also the rumor of the tails doll curse, a ritual one can do in their bathroom where they turn off all lights and listen to a reversed version of "can you feel the sunshine" by tj davis, as featured in the sonic r soundtrack.
6, known colliqually as the intruder, is a major antagonist in the mandela catalogue, a mysterious force which caused the disappearance of 3,426 children throughout several counties, resulting in the ban of most screen-based technologies and mirrors by 2009. 6 seems to take on two forms; one being a tall, pale faced man wearing a black hoodie or robe, the second is the face of a man with short, messy black hair, only seen on televisions. occasionally his expression changes to an eerie smile.

Tails Doll being Sonic EXE’s backup instantly brought me back to the old days where they were usually paired up together in Creepypasta fanfics.
I still think that sonic.exe and tails doll are buddies.
yeah, but now that Tails Doll is long gone, he has instead formed a team with all the other versions of himself. Sonic.exe is an entire multiverse now. i still think the best version of him is Lord X. he was a darker, more sinister, and more serious version of EXE who had similar abilites except one major difference was that Lord X actually eats human flesh apparently

From purely an animation standpoint, this is absolutely amazing. I particular like the two different parts for X, both the Saturn-esque animation that looks similar to Floombo's animations, and the bible animated section being limited in movement and complete with animation errors, just like the cel-animated cartoons of the 70s and 80s. And that's just the tip of the iceberg with the visuals.
Also in his own style .exe has skin tone arms like classic sonic but in Gabriel's style he has blue arms like sonic boom

Okay, the entire battle is phenomenal from the visuals to the beat to the lyrics, as always, but the thing that absolutely caught me COMPLETELY off guard was the credits.
X. Someone actually knows his real name. Someone put at least 2 minutes' worth of research into his original lore.

@@N_o196 I've found that a vast majority of people who know anything about Sonic.EXE haven't even read the original story, let alone its sequel and remake. Of course, it's hard to judge them for that because the stories absolutely suck and aren't worth any sane person's time, but still.
Also, people do know about "Lord X" but they think of a completely different Sonic.EXE when they hear that name.

@@N_o196 Yeah, "Cult of X". It's basically about an incompotent police detective investigating a series of supposed murders called the "Sonic.EXE Murders". It details the true nature of the game and basically confirms that every character in it is just a past player's soul in the shape of their favorite character, and X is just some fanatic of Sonic the Hedgehog who likes to go around cosplaying as him and torturing anyone he captures. It really hardly has much of anything to do with Sonic.

Personally coming into this battle, I had only really read up on Sonic.EXE so I didn't get the references to Mandela Catalogue. Three hours later, one video essay down, and a rewatch of this video later, I got every single one. Extremely well done on the wordplay and the editing is just PHENOMENAL on all fronts. Insanely amazing work here.

Words cannot describe how amazed, hyped, and blown away i was through out this whole entire battle. Holy. Shit. This was all worth the wait, this might even be my favorite rap battle from your series, the animation, the voice acting, the flow, the animation, the editing, the matchup, the animation, the inclusion of tails doll and the intruder, THE ANIMATION. This was awesome, and i see how this was delayed. Y'all outdid yourselves. Sonic.exe and tails doll won.
Sonic exe is slowly making a resurgence in the rap battle genre and I'm all for it.
I didn't expect that voice for Sonic.exe, but I'm not disappointed. Also the scariest Gabriel performance I've seen yet, which is kind of an odd honor, but it's one I'm proud to give out.
From best to worst, I give it to Gabriel, Tails Doll, Intruder, and finally, Sonic.exe. A good tune that's perfect for the season. Also, the beat is real shnice, I can't lie.
Edit: I might actually put the Intruder above Tails Doll, "you're miles behind him," "this isn't rap this is rapture," the insane editing and haunting beat.. man, Mandela catalogue got represented hard in this one

This battle was super experimental for me. I wanted to see if I could really make something much more energetic, more hype, more loud than any other battle I've done before. I reached out to a much bigger name, tried out several different styles of video, and produced an original instrumental. i wish i commented when the video first came out on halloween but GOD i can't stop rewatching this. i'm kinda a sucker for sonic.exe and have really wanted a great sonic.exe battle for awhile, and holy shit you did not disappoint. the writing is so damn good and there are so many lines i could gush about, all four characters are portrayed really well on top of having great voices (fantastic job ALL of you!) and the video is SO GOOD LOOKING! everything from X's animation looking fantastic to the various TMC inspired video styles (the "I decieved them. Such weak minds." part especially got me), intruder's model also looks disturbing and really fitting and the entire tails doll segment was really well done between the animation and actual usage of a doll

I got into Mandela Catalogue like a few days before this came out so the timing is great, and i find the idea of sonic.exe cool but the actual story..not so much.
Anyway,this battle was just awesome.😊
Exes verse was great some of the lines were pretty clever n all that, liked the voice and visuals a lot.
Gabriel was AWESOME.
I loved the voice, found it both kinda goofy ((in a good way, like hes trying to act innocent, which is in character and just amazing)) and absolutely crazy, like absolutely god damn insane, just so great.
For some reason i just really love that "I discarded jesus" line, i have no idea why but damn.
Tails doll was great too, almost gave the .EXEs the win imo, then Intruder came in.
Intruder was also awesome, same type of notes as EXE really, just generally loved it.

1. "I've taken out things of such divinity, a demon is no issue."
Or...

I don't think I've gushed about this so I'm gonna do that now. (I'm so sorry for the wall in advance)
As a person who had 0 idea that this was happening my first time watching this was a fucking experience, Shwabadi is probably my favorite nerdcore rapper atm so seeing him in this is fucking insane and he killed that shit 110%, Quiz as Gabriel surprised me with the inherent casting but she did amazing, to me until now Quiz has had good roles but nothing that's made me feel "holy fuck" like Gabriel, her tone of voice is perfect and this is also her best role rapping wise, I think her delivery is also amazing, the way she delivers "Hes been absolutely dying for some screentime" gives me goosebumps. Emily as Tails Doll REEKS of pure unadulterated chaos and the fast rap she pulls off with such clarity is REALLY impressive, and bro I'm sorry even after knowing it's him I just CANNOT hear GP in Six like, at all, idk if it's the voice effects but he's unrecognizable and gives off the vibe of it being an unknown entity just making its way in, which adds to the amazing atmosphere.
The beat is one of my favorites, having the hard distorted bass and electric guitars for Sonic and more atmospheric choirs and synths for Gabriel, the production is something to marvel at because both sides have such a different vibe but it never comes off as jarring or unfitting, the transitions between the verses are done masterfully.
The video is also oozing with passion and effort, the amazingly uncanny animation for sonic, not going for pixels or the modern design was a smart move because it makes it feel more like what sonic exe actually is instead of being sonic with blood, initally the art changes for Gabriel seemed like it would throw me off but I think it works to make the viewer feel disoriented in a good way, idk if that was on purpose but that's my interpretation at least, the mix of plushies and animation for tails doll is really good, it's kinda obvious but it's not insanely distracting, and the animation on Six is great and super unsettling, with his vacant eyes and mouth being a great opportunity for visuals, which GP takes and runs with. Overall to close this fucking wall I'm gonna say that this battle is easily the most well rounded of Halloween and it's not close in any way.

The Mandela Catalouge’s first verse canceled out what Tails Doll brought out even though it was fire as well. The first verse of TMC set ablaze and it’s not even it’s first time winning a rap battle in my books. 😭
I disagree, I feel like the disses TMC had were generic and used in every EXE rap battle. Expect the creator bar and wiki bar. That was insane. But two good bars aren’t enough to save against two good verses.

I keep coming back to this months later, and damn is it still top tier.
People keep pointing out how amazing so many bars are, but "You're not the real you. You're Miles behind him." always stands out to me on amazing wordplay. Not only is the Intruder saying Tails Doll is both not the real Tails and inferior to him, but the fact its a play on how Tails' actual name is Miles is something that has latched on to my brain. Absolutely amazing work with so many bars, but that one has just stuck with me as a favorite.
