For all-day wear, almost nothing beats the 990v3 and 990v4 for me. It's not about super-squishy cushioning, it's just the right support and structure for all day. Glad to see you in some USA New Balance!
@@Rob.28 with the older 990 versions its usually a sizeing issue , you may need to go up a half size or grab a wide in certain models . im an 11 in most nbs but in 550 om 11.5 and the 2002R im a 12 . 990v6 im 11.5 but my pinky toe could use a little more room or i can break the shoes in with double socks
Chris. I shifted to new balance starting from 2018 and I can tell you the magic of its comfort is all about longevity. V3,V6 is my fav in the lineup. If you have to walk all day, you will be amazed by these, less soreness on your feet compared to other shoes. Even the boost.
Love seeing these on the channel. v3 and v4 are still my favorite is the 990s, but the v6 is growing on me. And for someone that praised Jordan 3s and 4s for their neutral comfort, I'm surprised you don't find those as comfy. I've always called them a great neutral comfort shoe. All day wear with no worries.
I call Jordan 3 & 4s bricks. Not sure how that’s misconstrued into praise. When someone says “NB are so comfortable.” Then I’m expecting something so comfortable. Not a brick. If we’re talking comfort then go with V6. If you want something neutral then go with the older versions. I thought I explained it well enough but maybe I didn’t.
I got a pair of the 990v4. They’re firm but extremely supportive over a long day. They’re great for long wears because they hold up. Lots of shoes end up wearing out after being on your feet all day but these are absolute tanks.
Your statement in the opening about the sizing- I felt in my soul. I really want to dive into their products/ but sizing is so wonky and price is so high it’s an actual risk.
I really recommend trying them on in store .. Do not listen to the advice about going half - size down or whatever. There is no general rule of thumb for " NB " sizing because they can't even produce the same models in the same size across their US / UK / Vietnam factories. The " U990GT4 " and " U990GRY " which are both 990 V4s don't even fit the same. The former is about 1/4 size larger than the latter ...
New Balance sneakers are crazy fire. Quality, comfort, fit and finish, etc. and American made. Just copped the 2002R in the, “Tobacco” color way… and the, “Castlerock” color way. Couldn’t be happier. Good looking and insane comfortable.
Now this is what we wanna see!! We need more videos Showing New Balance!!!! Check out Asics too bro🔥🔥🔥 Asics gel 1130 and gel Kayano 14 been making some noise Lately
when i was younger, it was all Nike or Adidas only. but now im older, and watching a lot of shoe review channels, i started trying out other brands. particularly, with New Balance, since they are so good on feet. i do agree with the sizing. I'm a size 10 usually (Nike, UA, BrandBlack, etc), but with NB, i usually get sz9.5, or i even get down to sz9 on some models. very good quality and always on sale.
I normally go true to size in all of the 990 series, 993s, 998s, 1906r & 2002r. They all fit me perfectly. The only pair that I’ve had a fit issue is the 550. These two color ways are so 🔥 and picked them up on sale today!
990s reign supreme in the DC area! Regardless of preference on looks, these are easily better quality (build + materials) than MOST hyped shoes in the market
I've been wearing new Balance for years. And I think it's funny how people are coming around to them now. New Balance has been making comfortable and good quality sneakers for a while now. With good materials And it took a bunch of collabs for the sneaker community to start riding the wave. Many of their shoes are so comfy. And you can beat them up. My kids especially my daughter used to give me crap about wearing my new balances out in public during family outings. Because I own a ton of J's and Air Max. Many of which are still DS. but i am sometimes more interested in being comfortable than being stylish. But now my kids have come around. They wear NB's now, and my wife does too. It's funny how young people follow trends. But I will say this. I am always looking for sales. Because it is still hard for me to pay Air Jordan prices for NB's. I like them a lot. but not enough to pay over $200-$250. But to each their own.
At a size 12.5 with a narrow foot, I’ve never found a NB that hits me right but always appreciated their style going back to the 90s. Definitely nice to see them well respected in the sneakerhead community, not just collabs. I’ve been rocking with Saucony a lot recently, for many of the same reasons: quality to match the price and classic yet distinct styles.
I've tried the 2002R,990v3,990v4,990v5. So far the v5 have been my favorite due to the absolute crazy comfort and looks! I think what many people overlookil is the fact that it blurs the lines between "the streets" vs "the suburbs. You can't really tell what kind of person is rocking these , and it makes it that more interesting to see the mystery. But ur an OG Knightwing, and i recently came up on some new balance 2000 special edition in purple. Ive dont a small bit of research, but this discontinued model use to be top of the line for street wear back in the day.
I’d WAAAY rather pay New Balance a premium price for a sneaker that’s actually made well with premium materials than pay Nike for unpredictable and mediocre/crappy materials and unpredictable quality from China or Vietnam. I own lots of Nike’s… but are always happier with the quality and comfort of New Balance.
The quality of the line Made USA is unmatchable. I grabbed a pair 8 years ago and they are still intact. The outsole & the leather are pretty solid. Moreover, at contrary to fake leather sneaker, the smell isn't poisoned
Once you start to dabble in the runner market you will not look back , so many options now! NB an obvious but asics as well , the gel 1130 particularly i think would be to your liking, even salomon now are everywhere over here in the UK. Welcome to the comfort club 😂
I think when people talk about the comfort of the 990v3-v5 isn’t really referring to cushiness as much as it is zero fatigue. Everyone’s feet are different but generally the shape of the midsole disperses nice and evenly across your whole foot. I stand 8-9 hours a day at work and have ZERO fatigue. It’s pretty amazing!
I have the 990v3s, v4s and v6s and I get the whole the v4 doesn't feel that comfortable compared to the v6 thing, but you have to wear it all day to feel it. The firmness on the v4s as well as the v3s keep the blood flowing in your feet and you just won't feel very much fatigue at all after a long day. Definitely life test them if you get the chance
Difference being that AJ s have garbage quality and craftsmanship where’s NB is easily a cut above. It’s incredible that people are still buying J s for those ridiculous prices
The thing with NB comfort is not just softness. It read it that way at the start myself, but learned squshiness gets tiring after a lot of hours on your feet. My 1080v12 are a pillowy delight, but for 3+ hours my v3s are superior. Note I only "got into" NBs after a bad leg injury though I grew up with them in MA, so no bias here.
I jumped on the NB train this year and got myself the 2002r. I’m on a similar boat to Chris where I don’t fully understand the comfort level that people suggest and it could be that used to a more bouncy ride. But the upper is comfy and they are very nice looking.
Yes, New Balance started me on this sneaker thing because it was what I can afford. They say that what your New Balance size is your truest size. Although I can’t confirm that because I’m up half a size on other brands except for NBs
I own a few pairs of New Balance, a few different models.....I love each pair, great quality and comfort. They're actually a great change of pace from my Nikes, Jordans, and Adidas.
1500's also sit nice on foot, amazing colorways and the packs have amazing quality. I know J are the hype but NB blows them away, V6 color you have is fire, look great on-foot. With pricing they are made in the USA and that cost more, unlike a Jordan 4 px @ $220 made by a 6 yr old in Asia. Just saying
I was new to the NB game until last year when I was able to snag a pair of the Salehe Bembury 990v2 for close to retail, and I freakin love em. If the v3s and 4s are anything like them or better, I'm gonna have to expand my collection.
Try the NB Super Comp Trainer V2 if you're looking for more of the traditional "cushioned" ride. IMO, they are the best performance running shoe for daily wear.
The rule of thumb with new balance is made in USA go half size down. If it’s made anywhere else go true to size. (Except 9060) but other than that all other models like 550 2002 and 1906 go true to size.
I own a few different NB lifestyle models and put a Move All Day insole them. Great combo especially for the older 990 models, at least for me anyway. I still haven’t tried the v6 model yet though.
Been saying that for years half the ppl say that Jordan’s too expensive wear NB at least in Bmore and never been on sale older models of 992’s which has been recently 🤷🏾♂️
Great review! I've got the 990v4 Olive too! I strongly that these pair are a beautiful looking shoe and NB MIUS' quality are far better than Jordan is that price point! 😄
NB’s 990’s are superior in comfort and suede leather quality. They look good depending on how you style them. But just talking Jordan’s, they are stylish and just go with almost anything. But I’m also a big Air Max 1 kinda guy and I just feel like NB’s just do it for me too. And have to add that NB is killing it with all the collabs it’s been doing!
Huge fan of 990v4 and 990v6. I had a 9060 first, but they felt almost… too squishy? Definitely comfortable, but the 990 styles felt better overall and are more wearable for a lot of walking.
Bro im glad you discovered the new balance world, they are awesome, dont get me wrong i have more jordans than new balances but they are awesome to wear and the quality is superb no gr jordans can match them. The 991s specially the v2 is good also but they are made in uk so a bit more expensive, just waiting for them to release new color ways
It varies. My 992s fit perfectly at 11.5. My 993s are too big. I tried the 11 and it was too tight. It depends on the shape of the toe box. All Made in USA
For MiUSA 990 V3 I had to go up * 1.0 full size * as it was too narrow .. I'll never buy the revised MiUK 998s either after trying them on in store as the proportions leave you with a long shoe and 1 - 2 cm toe clearance to get a fit that's not tight in the middle. No idea why but put it down to clowns making clown shoes. Otherwise I have the MiUK ALD 991s and Vietnam made JFG 2002Rs a half - size up which both fit perfect without issues ..
I wonder why you don't find them comfortable. Maybe you prefer the firmness and stability of basketball tech? Running shoes have softer cushion, which is great but is less stable so they're not great for standing long hours, then there's most NB shoes where they strike that nice balance between stability and cushion, plus the materials are so quality, firm yet breathable.
Models like the 990v3 and 990v4 balance stability with comfort. People say the heel of the 990v5 feels like a brick or the 990v2 is too firm. The firmness is definitely better for all day wear after breaking in and longevity compared to Boost or React tech.
Same problem here, I liked a lot NB 990v2 from Salehe Bembury ,got my usual 9,5 and had to sell them ..prices are higher than a Jordan, he re in EU the retail of the 990 v6 is 250€ !!😢
My opinion about the v6 is they feel so bouncy on the feet. They kinda overdid it and wearing it for non running purposes kinda awkward. Besides it being too functional they are perfect in every way. The looks are astounding.
Style & design of NB"s arent touching earlier model J's (1-6, 10-13) to me. Rock my 992' usa joints occasionally though. Quality is easily above J's though to me.
I don't like them either Chris I prefer the 574 runner it way better looking or the basketball high top classic thank you humbly Chris can you do episode on lottos sneakers classic in the hood where I'm from which is Connecticut by the way of new haven
Been finding it really ironic lately that all the Jordans I've been wanting have been relatively easy to get but the new balances I've been after I've been taking L's lol
I have the same problem. Im used to basketball shoes and i love the look of NBs but theyre not comfortable. Too soft and poor heel support. But they get better jf you wear them in. And they all fit different
For all-day wear, almost nothing beats the 990v3 and 990v4 for me. It's not about super-squishy cushioning, it's just the right support and structure for all day. Glad to see you in some USA New Balance!
I found my 990v4s to be uncomfortable my v5s and 2002rs are insanely comfortable

I agree. Said as much in this video.

New Balance materials are actually worth the Jordan price point
I appreciate you reviewing these. The entire 990 line, v1-6, goes hard. Quality is always top-notch.
Your statement in the opening about the sizing- I felt in my soul. I really want to dive into their products/ but sizing is so wonky and price is so high it’s an actual risk.

Keeping it 100... New Balance is probably the most underrated shoe on the face of the earth.. Great shoes from the bottom to the top

Being from the DMV area these are a staple for us. Glad to see NB on your channel, hell I still rock the OG 992s myself!

Everybody has Jays but also many sneaker heads have out grown Jays although we love them. I love the NB mature aesthetic and style!

I love the 9060. Possibly the most comfortable lifestyle shoe on the market. Plus they look wacky and come in a lot of offbeat colorways. Big fan.

I own a few pairs of New Balance, a few different models.....I love each pair, great quality and comfort. They're actually a great change of pace from my Nikes, Jordans, and Adidas.
whole different level of success when you start wearing these bad boys lol wearing new balances shows growth
I love the marron colorway, but don't need another pair of V6. Olive V4 are definitely gonna be picked up once on sale.

Yes, Made in USA you should definitely size down a half size but for some reason the 993 was tight and I need to go true to size.
Finally!! Been wanting to know what Chris thought of the teddy santis line
I was new to the NB game until last year when I was able to snag a pair of the Salehe Bembury 990v2 for close to retail, and I freakin love em. If the v3s and 4s are anything like them or better, I'm gonna have to expand my collection.
NINE-NINETY-V6 ;)
Love to see an honest review from a non NB head ;)
Love you guys !
New Balance is better than Jordan in every category. The quality alone is top notch.

Loving it, let’s move on from poor quality and lack of respect for the customer brands. NB, saucony, ASICS you get what you pay for.
The 580 is another nice shoe and not expensive and so right about the sizing
Been saying that for years half the ppl say that Jordan’s too expensive wear NB at least in Bmore and never been on sale older models of 992’s which has been recently 🤷🏾♂️
Materials CRAZY
New Balance is awesome, you will convert. Also, it feels like only old men wear Jordans now, I'm one of them 🥲
Great review!
The 990v4s are some of the most comfortable for my feet, especially as I evolve/age and my feet need more stability
Wonderful shoes. It’s look very nice.I think v3&v4 are still my interest 990s is growing on me.
Hey Chris!I love the 2002r for $140 good looking and a decent comfort. The suede on them joint is a good buy.
SIde note 990V3, and V4's you have to wear at least once to break them in (Like a day and you should be good to go).
I was just looking at these online this morning. Really want to start picking up some nice NBs as I too am evolving/aging.
I’ll take NB over Jordan or Nike any day. Especially any of the 990 series.
I’ve been looking at both of these pairs for the holidays this year! Awesome pairs, great review as always 😊
I had the 990v4. Worth the investment. They were my work shoes.
Put some Move inserts and you’re golden! I can do a full Disneyland day with some 990s V3-6 + AllDay Move inserts
I go from true to size to one size up depending on the sale/discount 😂. Love the 993 the most of all NB.
My great grandpa and grandma love these
I think I gotta grab the grey Made in USA 990v6 now. Darn Chris always making me spend money.
Love my gray 990v4’s! The suede is god tier.
I'm from Baltimore and I approve this message
Long live Teddy Santis - latest season has been fire!
Very comfortable. Picked them over Jordans for that reason
For sizing, usually you go down half a size for MiUSA shoes and up half a size for MiUK. All others typically can be your true to size 🤘🏼
These are cool.
I'm a big fan of the 9060 model
Same problem here, I liked a lot NB 990v2 from Salehe Bembury ,got my usual 9,5 and had to sell them ..prices are higher than a Jordan, he
re in EU the retail of the 990 v6 is 250€ !!😢
I love my NB, quality is hella good
Here’s the trick: anything that is in the Made in the USA line, go half a size down!
6:54 from this angle they'll always be dad shoes for me
I would take v3, v4 over almost any J's any day. Jordan 3's are probably the only exception.
Love to see more NB reviews
in terms of comfort it's v5 over everything for me. i own all versions besides the v1, and i have to give it to the v5.
My opinion about the v6 is they feel so bouncy on the feet. They kinda overdid it and wearing it for non running purposes kinda awkward. Besides it being too functional they are perfect in every way. The looks are astounding.
Thanks for reviewing nb even though it's not your wheelhouse your opinion on them is valuable!
Definitely been grabbed NB in recent years
Waaaayyyy nicer than any Jordans. I've been wearing NBs Made in USA/UK for years and I'm incredibly happy that they're picking up steam.
Style & design of NB"s arent touching earlier model J's (1-6, 10-13) to me. Rock my 992' usa joints occasionally though. Quality is easily above J's though to me.
Dude the NM480 is a great shoe too!
I mean, the quality is pretty top notch - so it makes sense!
These are the Teddy Santis releases , basically these are under cover ALD releases Same designer just Direct .
Your money goes much further buying these. Can’t beat the quality and I support 🇺🇸 companies.
I got the purple colorways. They are siiiick. I'll pay that price for Made in USA
which was the better half-size down fit, AJ1 low OG or the NBs?
I don't like them either Chris I prefer the 574 runner it way better looking or the basketball high top classic thank you humbly Chris can you do episode on lottos sneakers classic in the hood where I'm from which is Connecticut by the way of new haven
I love the way you talk about new balance. 😂You can tell you just joined the club. You will get better with the names
Washington DC signature shoe‼️‼️‼️
Chris, where’d you get that hoodie sir!!!🔥🔥🔥
Been finding it really ironic lately that all the Jordans I've been wanting have been relatively easy to get but the new balances I've been after I've been taking L's lol
The v6 is amazing. The price is a bit high. I’m waiting for the basic grey pair to go on sale.
It just came out it’s not going on sale anytime soon lol like years
Dad shoes are the winner this year🔥🔥🔥
Day to day, I wear NB more than anything else. Vans is next
I have the same problem. Im used to basketball shoes and i love the look of NBs but theyre not comfortable. Too soft and poor heel support. But they get better jf you wear them in. And they all fit different
As a man in his 40s, NB has me in a choke hold just like JB has the kids in a choke hold...
990v4s compared to v5s and 2002rs are a day and night difference. Idk why the v4s are so uncomfortable
Nb 1080v13 review up next !
Sold my Jordan's for new balance along time ago... once I was 28 standing in line with kids for shoes I said I'm done smh
