I'm not a guy, and I don't have this texture hair. But cleanliness aside -- there is something so therapeutic about having your hair washed by someone. I don't understand why a barber shop wouldn't have a sink.
For generations men have been going to the barber shop for a shave because it feels good to have another human being help care for you. Even primates have figured this out!

A couple of days ago, I had to cut my dreadlocks for the same condition. I was not prepared psychologically and I was truly devastated. I thought I lost my identity with my hair, but it's just beneficial at the end of the day. Health over look and an healthy self-appreciation is always key to life. My hairdresser promised me to treat my hair so I will have my dreadlocks back and thanks to God, I feel satisfied with my new hairstyle even though it took me days before accepting my short hair.

This is one good looking young man. With this new style. This man has scars on his face so I am wondering it he doesn’t have a bit of excema to his face and scalp. @@theeALister I was wondering with this black young man if he had gone to a place where the dermatologist was a black person or a barber who was black and had experiences like this if he could have had another alternate. I am white and had a daughter with very very tight curls and my hair is poker straight I took her to a bigger centre than where we lived and looked for a black hair stylist to help me give this child the healthiest hair and scalp that I could . How to comb it out properly ect. Get products to help out. She was about two years old and that poor child had me and I had no clue. It was the best money I had ever spent.
You have to go to an expert on the different kinds of hair and I felt the best lessons I got for this child was a lady that had some ideas for me. Now this baby is 34 years old and her hair dresser is a black lady. She says mom some white hair dressers have no clue how to cut or style my hair and I totally agree . If the white flakes are dead skin, i totally get his decision. If one has such a dry skalp, it is so hard caring for it and i imagine that having the hair not moving when bound in dreads can prevent dead skin from geting out and start itching.
Good for him to get a change, a skalp treatment and a bit of relief for his skin👍

My grandmother use to say all good health begins in the gut, if the gut bacteria is bad it comes out in the biggest organ in your body...the skin! Feed the gut microbiome with fermented food, ditch wheat and sugar and take cold pressed castor oil at least once a week. @p.s.shnabel3409 10 місяців тому

@@LePuffyRamonCombsThe1st I found out that (probably) the root cause was chlorine in the water.
Officially, no chlorine was added to the local tap water. But I kept on asking, until I finally got a couple to spill the beans. Yes, they would add chlorine as needed (e.g. after really bad storms). They just thought it was in such minuscule amounts, nobody would notice.
Further cementing that as fact is that my rashes (mostly) went away when we moved into a place getting water from our own well.
So, please make sure you get to the root of the problem and find out what sets your skin off. It might be your hair care products, it might be your favorite beanie, it might be something you eat or drink. Or it could be the water itself. Everything you use on a regular basis could be the culprit.
As a first step, from my own experience I would suggest you buy scent free products. Including laundry detergent.
If you can, see a good dermatologist (most I met were quacks, so there is that). If you don't have the money or time, try to find out by eliminating things. Do so one thing at a time, and give it at least several weeks before you go on to the next.
Start with things you suspect, first (you probably have noticed a pattern?). And sometimes it can be a combination of elements, so you might see slight improvement if you eliminate X, but still suffer from most of the symptoms. Then keep digging.
I hope you will get better soon. Please, don't give up hope.

His skin flaking ended up not being a major problem for you I noticed. You sure have the "fade" down pat! It's a process but you have all you need to "get there."
I am glad you discussed the importance of washing the head as part of it all. As a woman, I would never get my hair done without a wash. Many older women get their hair done once a week, and it is the only time they do have their hair washed, and styled. I am happy to take care of my own hair :).

Pretty much du-rags serve 2 purposes:
      1) make the man look more menacing given the reputation of men who do wear du-rags (stereotypically speaking)
      2) hide an imperfect hair
Men that say they wear it for fashion or that they just like wearing them are lying to themselves. A man with great hair will always want to style it out and show it off.

      1) where is the insult in what anyone said here??
      2) What culture do you speak of when skimming through the comments made here [because it's obvious you didn't read through it carefully]
      3) where is there a mention of dreads and locks around this area in particular?? We're talking about du-rags, not dreads and locks.

    • @anthonymartinez6875
      @anthonymartinez6875 3 місяці тому

@@jozellhobbs8284 I owe you an apology. Upon looking into the video further, there was no recollection or any showcasing of any du-rags, so I'll take the time to say I'm sorry.
I was under the impression that this was 1 of the videos where a client came in with a du-rag since I do come back to videos I've already seen from time to time to see other comments, and most of the times I comment before rewatching because there's a couple of haircut videos where the4thken cut someone's hair and they came in with a du-rag. This one is clearly NOT 1 of those videos.
I made the mistake that I accused you of, and for that, I apologize. Also for calling you Mr. Sensitive. My sincerest apologies. Lesson here for me is watch the videos again before pulling off something as stupid as my reactive comment. I'm more guilty of that than you are. Mala mia.
Edit: wow now that I looked back at it, I see where you're coming from now.
@carolynwalls6787 it does seem that you're calling the guy's locks in the video "rags". Just to add to this guy here, this is very common among the Caribbean crowd (think Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, etc.) and African Americans as well. It is a popular hairstyle. It's what most would call the "Bob Marley" style because...well...Bob Marley made it really cool to have that kind of hairstyle (for those who had the hair to fit the style), though he's just 1 of many that made it look cool. There were many before him, but there was a time where most folks wanted to look like Bob Marley...
HOWEVER, to your defense, I can see where you're coming from, and I'm HOPING that's the angle you were shooting for because, to be honest, the look did not suit the guy in the video AT ALL, but going back to @jozellhobbs8284 , yeah this could come off as insensitive.

My ex has a problem like this and we were able to care for it through his locs. I’d scrape his scalp and use a brush to get the flakes out (there was no other way). Then his scalp was free for a medicated shampoo and oil for a refresh or retwist. We used the As I Am dandruff (blue label) shampoo and oil. It helped with breakouts in between. He even used it in his beard and around his ears. Looking at his redness his skin is about to go crazy. I recommend the line

I use apple cider vinegar to remove scale. Then I wash. You may have to use vinegar a couple of washes for it to dissolve dead skin. Maui Moisture Shampoo works the best for not irritating the scalp. Olive oil, Shea butter, Amla oil, or Argan oil help. I stopped drinking milk and almost gave up dairy completely. Castille soap is good for sensitive skin also. Great job.

It looks this customer has a skin condition that isn’t really fully seen until you get into it. My purpose in commenting is that all barbers aren’t clean. Customers leave looking good but got a little more than they expected catching a skin condition too. I’ve seen men that don’t see the backs of their necks and wha the skin looks like when the fade is done.
