Love this, Neil. As good as you are with both wood and metalwork, when you say "I'll give it a go" and "I'm having fun", you open up the world for us all. Thanks for this, mate. And I eagerly look forward to part 2.
@@youtubeuser206 I have zero idea what you are going on about. I meant what I said, Neil understood that and if you don't like what I said or how I said it, you can move along.
Single episode, or multi-part, your content is informative, interesting and a joy to watch... whatever format best suits your times. Just so long as you keep producing please
Always a pleasure to watch you work. Everyone always wants to say, "Jack of all trades and master of none", but the full saying is, "A Jack-of-all-trades is a master of none, but still always better than a master of one!" This describes me, and I think, you as well. To me, it should be, "To try, and do "okay" at many things is more useful in life than mastering only one thing!" Namaste, mate!
Although multi-part videos are probably good for return "customers", I usually make sure all parts are posted prior to viewing because I dislike getting interested and then "no return". Your videos are awesome, thanks for all the work you put into them!
I was so captivated by the video that I was almost disappointed when it stopped... Can't wait for part 2, so much talent and precision fascinates me. Thank you for sharing.
Mate, this brings back some great memories for me, I did my apprenticeship as a car mechanic back in in the 70’s and there was an old Indian guy that worked there he used to make padlocks in his break times out of scrap that he found in the welding shop they were works of art, some of them would have 2 keyholes and if you chose the wrong one a blank .22 cartridge would go off and make you shit yourself he was a real craftsman
I am such a huge fan of yours. It was you, more than anyone else, that inspired me to start woodworking, and I have really enjoyed your journey towards greater focus on metal work. That said, I would love to see you make more 'beautiful things' as well as pursuing projects that expand your skills. There are so few online that have your talents in both metal and wood work that I would love to see the furniture you could build mixing both crafts.
Wonderful project! For cleaning intricate pieces, you might investigate ultrasonic cleaning. You can build a simple cavitation tank with an ultrasonic transducer, ideal for cleaning parts with crevices, blind holes, etc. where brushing/scrubbing would otherwise not reach. I love your channel; keep up the great work and content!
Thanks Andrew - I do use an ultrasonic cleaner and will probably use it at some point in this project. I don't think it would've removed the flux though but I'll try it next time I solder. :)
I am amazed repeatedly at the way that you tackle an issue and find a solution. Im hooked on your Chanel. You do make some wonderful things. Once completed, it will look stunning. I agree with others, make a wooden one that can be a double sized working padlock to go on the wall with the propeller. Keep up the brilliant work Neil.
14:52 - Don't like the multi-part thing, but to be honest, your content is awesome and I really appreciate what you're doing and I know that multi part videos make you more money, so go for it. You've earned it. Thanks for the free content :)
Wow. I love watching your videos, regardless of what you're making. Some of the projects are ones I'll try, some I use for ideas, and some I'll never even dream of making, but they're all fascinating. Whether the video is short, long, single or a series, I'm watching, learning and enjoying. Thanks.
Nice work. One small tip on soldering tiny parts is to hammer the solder slightly flat before cutting it into small pieces. That makes them less likely to suddenly roll away during soldering.
God level, Neil. That is superb! Now....between the fiddly little bits here and the giant cogs on the wall.....I see a pocket watch in your future. I prefer all in one videos but its no real inconvenience and understandable (given the platform) but please UPLOAD PART TWO ASAP!!
Outstanding Neil. Loved all your setups and marking methods, like using the 123 block for marking...I've put that into the brain for future use! Always a treat to see you tackle new projects with such aplomb. Looking forward to the next installment! Thanks always for what you bring to the community!
LOVING IT! I like multi part videos as it's easier to digest and focus on rather than 40min-2 hour videos. And leaves me wanting more and excitement for the next video
1000K subscribers! Congratulations. An incredible milestone. Well deserved. I watch most of your videos. They are far beyond my skill set, most of the time. But they're so interesting to watch. I'm happy I found your channel a few years ago.
So dope! I find with soldering, there is a chance of too much flux and my rule of thumb with solder is “well enough to add more, though you’d darn yourself for wanting less” …for not much experience I believe the hammer met the nail’s head, well done sir and thank you for your enthusiasm!!!
You are the man, Neil!! I've never used a metal lathe before, but always enjoy watching you work. I'm definitely looking forward to the second video for this project. -Rick, USMC
Once again, you impress, amuse and amaze................though I usually dislike multi-part videos, but as I watch ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you release, it not like a multi-part video - its like "I know I'll stopping by the shop next week, so I'll see it then". Though the anticipation can make me a little inpatient!
It will be interesting to see how these metal videos do on your channel given that you started mostly with wood and some hand metal work. I wonder if it might get a similar reaction as do channels that add a CNC to their traditional wood working channel. I think you’ll do well regardless, Mr. Pask, as you seem to be a genuinely likeable guy who is always putting out original clever content.
Wowers that's a pretty awesome project. Can't wait to see more videos soon on this project. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Awesome job so far man and no matter how you make it, it is the right way since you are making a custom lock of your design. Love the video so far and can't wait to see it finished.
Absolutely love seeing this kind of project. Longer, single videos are my preference, but if the YT algorithm works best with splitting it up - I won't complain :D
Multi-part is no problem -- I love to see you spend some time discussing the details -- but I do think it's nice to know what to expect out of each part; opening with "this is part one, in which I'll be machining the case for the padlock" prevents the ending from feeling a bit abrupt. Part of the fun of watching something get made is the final reveal of the finished object; we can still have that fun in multiple parts, but only if we know ahead of time what "finished" means for each subsection.
So impressed with your talent. I’ve been watching you for along time and have never seen you fail on any of your projects. So I’m positive you’ll succeed. Congrats on 1 million subscribers you so deserve it
Awesome. This is totally awesome. I really like how you work. Even though you may not be completely proficient in one aspect of the build, you go right on ahead and do it. It's the only way to get better at something, by just doing it. Can't wait for the next installment.
Awesome work! Looking forward to se the next video! When the lock is done you should send it to The lock picking lawyer, that would just be awesome to see what he thinks of your lock.
Hi Neil, It was a quick 15 mins and really engaging as usual. If it was 30 mins I might have decided to put off watching until i had more time, so a series idea is great. This will be the sort of series that future viewers will binge. 🍿🎯 spot on.
Always love the videos anyway you can get them out easiest. Multi-part videos dont bother me but I do prefer when substantial progress is made, like this video
Getting strong Clickspring vibes on those tiny parts :o) Neil, thank you so much for the video and the constant inspiration that you are! I love the build and feel that multipart series will allow you to go for bigger, or more complex projects. Anything for your development and good feeling. I admire the progress you are making. You are very quiet about it but over the years you take on new tools, new techniques and are getting very skilled indeed. It shows! Thank you for taking us with you.
Excellent work especially for your first time making something like this. Multi-part for something like this is just fine. Your mate at Clickspring would be proud.

I was thinking along similar lines.
And then we can bring the lock-picking lawyer in at the end.
