There are no standard diagnostic criteria for capsulitis or synovitis. Emphasis is more on hypo and hyper mobility rather than explaining the cause of it. A true clinician with experience in treating many TMD patients will know how hard it is to classify it. Disc pathology shall be covered bit more as it is the major cause of intracapsular problem. But my heartfelt congrats for attempting this because TMD awareness is very less in the field so this should bring some. Thanks.
yes, that's true. As it is inert tissue We have to diagnose synovitis and capsulitis on the basis of symptom and ROM limitations. www.jefferson.edu/omfs/pdfs/Temporomandibular%20joint%20pain%20and%20dysfunction. This link is very helpful.
If a jaw deviates from an anteriorly displaced disc without reduction, there may be NO inflammation. Therefore, there will be no pain on lateral palpation of the affected TMJ.
@ Linda. Thanks for watching critically. yes you are right either inflammation is reduced or patient is in chronic stage when pain is reduced. www.jcda.ca/article/e60 This article may help for further details of TMJDD without Reduction

This is awesome!
Being a physio u need to check for jaw deviation. You don't need to ask the patient "Do u have deviation?" lol
