It could be complete I-69 between Martinsville Indiana and I-465 in Indianapolis Indiana by late 2024. The I-69 will be almost 100% open in Indiana by the end of 2024, except for the Ohio River Bridge between Indiana and Kentucky which will be finish in 2028 as of target date.

Now his grandbabies are 2.5-5 hours driving and speed is the primary requirement because the destination is the reason for the trip. Scenery is for Sunday drives to nowhere when time isn't a factor.

US 30 between Fort Wayne and Chicago gets 2x the truck traffic than this route does, but nothing is ever improved on US 30.
