This wrench came out beautiful, as always!!! Over the years that I have been following the channel (since 2016), you have inspired me to try my hand at renovating old tools that I either randomly find or specifically seek out to match some of the ones you have presented on the show if they are within my budget. Before that, I had no interest whatsoever in old tools or antique objects. I have gotten a lot of practical advice and have learned a lot of renovation techniques right here, by watching you. You have been a patient teacher and a role model to me. All I initially had in my tool box was some sandpaper and a screw driver. Over time I have acquired more tools to assist me with my renovation projects, but being paraplegic and having poor postural balance, I remain a little afraid of power tools, in particular, the flap sander. You make fantastic use of a flap sander but it scares me as I think I would lose balance and fall over if I ever handled one. I did acquire a low level dual sander and a drill press but mostly I try to imitate what you do using only hand tools that I feel I can more safely control. I do not have a wire brush set-up like yours but found that putting a wire brush in the drill press works well for me. Anyway, I try to adapt and have a lot of fun with this hobby. You have single handedly been responsible for instilling in me this wonderful hobby which has grown to become a passion. At this time of Thanksgiving, I want to give Thanks to you John, for the hard work you put into making all these videos for us to watch three times a week. You never fail to be entertaining and educational. Thank you!
Teddy! I am so glad you are really enjoying this wonderful hobby. One tool that I don’t often show that really might help you is a hand held right angle pneumatic grinder and some Roloc attachments. The die grinder as it’s known isn’t expensive but you need a pretty good compressor to run it. Just throwing that out there in case you already have a compressor. 😂. Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Nice restoration. The railroad was the Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul Railway, later called the Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul and Pacific Railroad, also known as the “Milwaukee Road”. Well done!
Happy Thanksgiving to all. One thing I'm thankful for, among many others, is the learning I've picked up from Scoutcrafter. Learning about tools and their proper use, as well as vintage tools and gadgets about which I didnt know anything, has been educational and alot of fun. Scoutcrafter videos are never too long. By the way, the B&C wrench turned out great as usual.
Beautiful restoration, you need the horse drawn wagon for your front yard. There’s not much you can’t do or have done. Your skills always show in your restorations. Thank You
Had a little deer running around in front this morning but probably went to sponge off the nearby goffers. Toots will put them on the road if they start sniffing around the garden. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, John CS with the GF and Family. We're Blessed beyond measure! Snoopus 2!
Beautiful restoration. My 80 year old friend just showed me his that was dug out of the ground. I don’t know if I have one, I’ll have to look. You always go the extra mile. Thank You
CM&PRy = Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway, aka The Milwaukee Road. This was the name before their famous Pacific extension to Seattle. Nice piece!
Have a blessed THANKSGIVING! I have a wrench like that, so beautiful the way tool's where made back when you could get a quality tool MADE in the USA...
Great video 👍 That Bemis&Call Combination wrench🔧 turned out fantastic! What a great fix🪛for repairing the wood handle. I also like the finish you done to the handle. It now looks like N.O.S. Well again great video and have a wonderful thanksgiving!🦃🍖🍗🍲🥧😃👍
I have one just like it sitting in the garage somewhere, a gift from my dad. I used to use it once in a while for something, but I can't remember what now, getting old, I guess. I subbed to your channel, thanks.
They must have sold a lot to different railroads. I've mentioned mine before, I think. Mine used to belong to the old Missouri Pacific Railroad. I managed to keep the RR stencil on mine. Nicely done.
As always, excellent restoration on the wrench. Nice job retaining the maker’s mark, too. Thanks for taking care of your furry and feathered friends. Happy Thanksgiving. 🦃
Great video. Love how you treat all your critters. Soooooo nice I love that old wrench. You made it look like new. 👍.y'all have a great Thanksgiving. ❤..
John , Happy Thanksgiving wishes to you. The Critters Gazette must have this front page banner headline “Free Thanksgiving Meal at ScoutCrafters Home”. That is a beautiful wrench. First time seeing one of these. You really did an outstanding job. I agree, definitely presentation quality. Best Regards, John
Just a fantastic restoration! It looks beautiful and I an impressed with how well the metal parts cleaned up. Thanks for sharing this and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
My birds get fed extra this time of thee year. Budgies love fruit & veggies. Also, Deer, raccoons, turkeys, songbirds, etc. All get come to feed in my yard. I lmao when I watch the squirrels Chase each other around the yard when I throw some Unshelled peanuts out for them. That wrench is fabulous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That was such an enjoyable episode. The project turned out so nice and you got to use so many of your skills on this restoration. Really, really, enjoyed this one. Hope you and you family have a wonderful Thanksgiving .
That is also an old Railroad wrench. Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway. The Milwaukee Road. At one point, late 1970s-1990s I think they may have leased a former New York Central branch along Western edge of Indiana.
2 years ago you did that last one and since then I've won every one that's cone up on eBayuk , I think I have about 12 all with different nuts .. or handles no two the same , they are the most beautiful wrench !! For 150 year old wrench in such a start condition John this has to be one of the best restorations you have done ever !!
I had a feeling all day there's was going to be a good restoration video today! I've got one of those wrenches but this is how I wish it looked! I've got a long list of projects but at least I'm moving forward again:) I hope you have great Thanksgiving! (we don't celebrate it here but I've heard it does derive from a Dutch tradition where we thank the Lord for the crops basically. It's always on a Wednesday and there's also Wednesday in spring where we pray for good crop) Thank you!
Alex- Funny thing is because these wrenches are so nice they were rarely thrown away so there are tons still out there. Like those old lumberjack saws, not used anymore but people don’t have the heart to toss them! 😂👍
Great show today! That was my 1st tool I restored. I remember I had a heck of a time getting the Wood handle off until I figured out it was threaded backwards 🤪. We don’t have raccoons and I never see possums but I have birds and squirrels and they always get special treats on holidays. Thank You for sharing and I hope you had a awesome Thanksgiving and Gobbled till you wobbled 😂
Scoutcrafter you have done an outstanding job on that Bemis and Call wrench! It's so shiny I almost had to get sunglasses! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Hey John, That wrench came out beautiful. You just got to love the ole tools. I wish that they made tools like this now a days. Craftsmanship has gone to shit, as far as I see it. There's not to many companies that care about their workmanship anymore, the only thing care about now is the bottom line, which (in my opinion) really sucks. Nice job buddy, and Happy Thanksgiving. - Later
Thanks for this John, such a satisfying restoration and some great technique, I love the tip about using the zip tie on the handle and using the MT to hold it, I'll try and remember to use that one. Thanks also for demonstrating the capacity at the end, I was just thinking it looked small for a wrench that size ! Happy Thanksgiving, and be careful feeding your little friends, hoping your finger is healing well !
Just goes to show that we are all different. Beautiful work, impressive restoration, and looks, as several people have said, better than new. And now I wouldn't want to own it. All those marks where it had been used as a hammer, and the railway mark, and all the dings on the handle - those told the story of this tool, all the people who owned it and used (and abused!) it. And maybe I would have straightened up the handle, glued up the crack, and lightly sanded the wood and refinished it and left it just like you had it after the wire brush. I love the work you do - but for me, this one was better with less. But I know lots of people will disagree with me!
There is no wrong answer in tool collecting, the one thing I don't usually do is restore collectable tools. I almost always take common tools and bring them back to new like condition. If you go to any tractor show there are thousands of tools in used condition just rusting away year after year forgotten and overlooked. When somebody sees how these beautiful tools looked when new it creates a totally new respect for how these were meant to look. Abused tools are only a testament to mistreatment. Unlike a wooden plane that has been worn in with hundreds of hours of correct use and the oils and sweat from the hands give a golden warm appearance, when mechanic tools are abused or mistreated that is shameful and like a scar on the tool. There are literally tons of tools with use and abuse out there getting thrown out every day because they are disgusting. However nobody would ever throw away a properly restored tool, even the layman who has no idea about tools would appreciate the beauty and lines of this wrench now. I do own a great deal of tools that are in beautiful original condition and will stay that way but beat up wrecked common tools come here to be restored and appreciated. =D
BTW - After I cooked the turkey today I cut all the meat off and I put the bones on the front porch. There were two neighborhood stray cats munching on it when I checked a few minutes ago. Also today I filled up the bird feeders with seed (THAT STUFF IS GETTING EXPENSIVE) and loaded the suet feeders as well. I look out for the fauna in my neck of the woods like you do in yours😀.
Saw your channel a while ago and I think you to be such an interesting person. Did not subscribe to you right away and could not remember your name and lost you to the either. I am glad to find your channel again. Happy Thanks Giving!... I subscribed this time.
LOL- I often warn people not to subscribe right away. Destiny seems to bring us all together. We have such a fantastic group of subscribers and now you are part! Thanks very much and Welcome! 😃👍
The shape of the jaws would also lend well for holding a big cold chisel...miss th chisel and wacko the jaws instead of fingers, and likely be using a 24oz or bigger hammer too.
This wrench came out beautiful, as always!!!

@@ScoutCrafter Thank you John, I'm going to look for a Die Grinder. One more tool to the arsenal!!!
That stamping is for the Chicago, Minneapolis and Saint Paul Railway.
Nice restoration. The railroad was the Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul Railway, later called the Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul and Pacific Railroad, also known as the “Milwaukee Road”. Well done!
Thanks for the info! 😃👍
That’s what I was thinking too.

Dude... I'd say u brought that one back to life!! . I didn't think u were gonna get the tap marks out. I ike the lathe-manship. Great stuff man!
Beautiful restoration, you need the horse drawn wagon for your front yard. There’s not much you can’t do or have done. Your skills always show in your restorations. Thank You

Beautiful restoration. My 80 year old friend just showed me his that was dug out of the ground. I don’t know if I have one, I’ll have to look. You always go the extra mile. Thank You

That is an amazing wrench and done up flawlessly 👍 that’s definitely something to hang up in a pleasing way to show it off.
Well done, Scoutcrafter. I have the same wrench, marked NY railroad, 15 inch. It’s a beast.
Wow! What a transformation, absolutely beautiful work on that wrench. Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving and Thanks very much for all you do.
John... You really are King of the flapwheel. What a beauty. Greetings from Weston super Mare. England.... Bob.
Happy Thanksgiving. Lucky critters at your house. Beautiful wrench.
Wonderful episode. So enjoyable to see you take this thru its paces! And it looks super!! Happy Thanksgiving Mr. John!!
I have one just like it sitting in the garage somewhere, a gift from my dad. I used to use it once in a while for something, but I can't remember what now, getting old, I guess.
I subbed to your channel, thanks.
The best restorations are always the tools that belonged to our fathers or Grandfathers... Those are my most cherished! Thanks and Welcome!
Holy cow that turned out great!! This was so good to watch as I have one extremely close to that one that Resto Rob sent me.
Great job on the wrench. One of the nicest ones I've seen👍👍👍
Wow! Great job, it’s a beautiful wrench! I feed all the critters around my home in the Sonoran Desert here in Arizona.
I bet there is a lot of unusual wildlife there! 😃👍

Happy Thanksgiving ScoutCrafter!
Good job, John...interesting, the one i restored has a much coarser thread than yours, and i did the handle in mahogany, looks pretty elegant too.
Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for all the great content
Happy thanksgiving 🦃.
Happy Thanksgiving John!
Have a great holiday.
GOOD ONE, HAPPY TURKEY DAY
First tool i ever restored was a b&c hawkbill
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Happy thanksgiving John hope you have a great day.
Happy Thanksgiving !
Happy Thanksgiving buddy have a great one
Happy Thanksgiving
Wow, Beautiful, John! Weren't they plated originally from the factory?
The ad said “Bright Finish” meaning it looked like this but I don’t know if there was any plating- all I have seen had no plating. 😃👍
That is Chicago,Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railway.
👍
Love your channel. I have a wakefield bicycle wrench I would like to restore, how do you take it apart?
