The 30x rebirth is done to increase the stat cap. It's still advised to do 30x rebirth first than replace the green/purple stats later on as that will be more resource consuming. Doing 30x rebirth before locking stats will give you better stats cap. You're saying that the purple attribute was better than the golden one but you did not consider which slot it was rolled. Level 9 12 15 and 18 differ from each other. Higher level means higher stat cap so you shouldn't compare the purple attribute on lv15 to the golden attribute on level 12. Just for example, a crb rolled with purple attribute on level 9 has a cap of 2% but after 30x rebirth, the stat cap for crb on level 9 increases to 2.5% thus, giving you an opportunity to roll higher stats for each line.
Some people says that purple stats shows better than gold stats, but wait for the star rail upgrades reaches to 4 breakthrough and then you'll see how this gold stat in rebirth works.
