@@marisolgarcia3123 - I agree, we have to evaluate all skaters (and people) on an individual basis. But I feel that in the last 20 years artistry has too often taken a backseat to athleticism.
Two words sum up his skating , Grace and Elegance ! So beautiful on the eye ! I'm from Bristol and I'm also a former figure skater , I have met Robin a few times , though I was very young at the times I met him , about 10 years old . We are all very proud of what he achieved ! And remember , in those days there was no lottery funding , and not much support for our athletes , especially in minority sports such as skating , I think that what he achieved was nothing short of astonishing !
It was a good time for British skaters with John Curry, Robin and Torvill and Dean. It seems strange that its over 30 years since we produced anymore world beaters especially nowadays with more funding available.
Не только великолепный фигурист, но и новатор оригинальных элементов, движений, жестов, и они ушли в "народ"! Браво, Казинс! Ты остался для нас блестящим, любимым, настоящим борцом, победителем! 👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹⛸️⛸️🕺🕊🕊🕊
Easily the best solo skater of all time....he never made a big deal of his flips...he just wove them into his performances...he was elegant and showed great finesse but had masculine strength and vigour....everything was balanced. The man deserves immense respect for the fluidity of his skating. His skating was seamless.
WOW!! How talented Robin Cousins was. He was so fluent and effortless on the ice. He made it look so easy. I've skated before. We went to an ice skating rink. I was so scared to get out on that ice. Every little step I took I felt like I was going to fall down. I could roller skate better than I could ice skate, but still not really good. I like Robin's choice of outfit. He is so handsome and tall and good-looking. In another video, they said he is 6 feet tall, but he seems taller to me than that. The 80's was the greatest decade ever. For music and movies. Wish I could transport myself back there and stay there. Love the video. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic, apart from the bloody commentators who never shut up throughout the routine! Clearly under the illusion that anything they said was remotely interesting.
I know your comment is from years ago but I just came across this video and you are SO right. I remember watching this when it was first on (yes I’m an old fart). The woman commentator was Judy Sladky, and I always called her Judy Blab-ky because she never shut up!
Between all the blah, blah, blah from the commentators and the jump, jump, jump from the competitors what’s left of figure skating? Nothing! The beauty of the sport left with John Curry, Robin Cousins,Paul Wylie,Peggy Fleming and other great artists! A once beautiful sport that is dying! What a shame!
Yes, I can confirm it's the 1985/1986 hit single " Out of Mind, Out of Sight" by the Australian new wave rock band, "The Models". It reached Number 1 in the Australian singles chart in 1985, then in 1986 it got to Number 37 in the international Billboard Hot 100.
Those backflips always give me goosebumps, he is such a great artistic skater
Probably the most artistic male skater of all time.
He’s great but there a lot of artistic quality ice skaters in all decades😅

Красавчик, высокий, пластичный, харизматичный
I had forgotten how relaxed he was when he was skating. Cheers for uploading.
Wow! what a great routine from the local Bristol lad. Haven't seen it before.
Необыкновенно!!!

A few years ago I went ice skating, I was clinging to the barrier most of the time while 5 year olds went whizzing by on the ice.
OhioGirl1973 best skater that time and so far. I remember I was very young girl that time and his skating was surreal for me.
nobody does it better
Wow double flips...awesome

I think the music is 'Out Of Mind Out Of Sight' by The Models.

What music is he skating to?
No sound?
Robin Cousins is a fabulous skater but it sure is the 80's! LOL!
Mary Carla I don’t see in 21st century’s skaters even quarter of what Robin did in 1980s.
The 80s were the best years for everything, especially ice skating. Definitely on a downward course since then.
