My 07 Solstice GXP was a little different. Instead of dropping down whole bottom piece (time 6:15) that part stays in place but there is a metal plate held on with 4 bolts (10mm socket) which was easy peasy as I much rather deal with metal plates and screws than plastic snaps and fittings. Other than that it has been easy so far thanks to your video. I got the new assembly replaced and now just have to put it all back together and test which hopefully goes well. You gave me the confidence to order the part and do this job so again THANKS!!!✌
Thanks for this. My car failed inspection in Md because of this. The shop offered to take if it for me for $200. Purchased the part for $30 and followed your instructions.
I just finished replacing my windshield wiper stalk on my 2008. I only needed to take off the top and bottom covers from the steering wheel. That gave me room to release the broken stalk and electrical connection. The new one easily slid in. It was much easier to deal with the electrical once I slid the stalk out of place. It took me longer to put the covers back into place and secure them than it did anything else.
I bought my Saturn two years ago - and the stupid blinker stalk has been broken the whole time. I've gotten so used to it now that I just manually turn everything off and on - but I might now give this a try. Thanks for posting!
Well you inspired me, so today I replaced both my stalks in my 08 Solstice! Kept my iPad and this video right out in the Garage with me! It was a piece of cake! I had the opposite problem than you had as my wiper stalk was busted up but I did both anyways as with my luck the directional signal stalk would break next week😂😂 it was actually bad as it didn’t allow for lane changing on highways where you only lightly hold it and not click it, I didn’t even know that part wasn’t working until I tested the new one! Anyways thanks for the video and your expertise!
As an FYI for Solstice oners...the Sol is an easier car to do this swap on regarding trim removal. And make sure you snap the new unit in properly, you might have to run a thin screwdriver behind the arms which snap into place, to get them to seat correctly. If you don;t get it to seat, it might not work correctly.
Make sure that the cone shaped base to the signal stalk stays INSIDE the steering column plastic cover and not over it when you put things back together. If it goes over, the signal cancel will still not function because the module gets pulled out a little. Otherwise, I verified this approach does work - my 2008 Sky Redline now has its signal cancel back.
Amazing! I want to thank you, sir, for this video. Just changed mine! It was not turning off when I turn left since I got my '07 Sky Redline 3 years ago. I just lived with it, dreading the cost to fix it at the dealership. Thanks to your video, I changed mine for $80 CAN for the part in around 40 minutes. I would never have known about those 2 bolts to drop down the steering wheel. Very much appreciated. Do have a video for changing the ambient light sensor on the dash? Actually, I could probably figure it out now that I know how to drop the steering column!
I've done all kinds mods & had the dash pieces apart installing digital volt meter...ect. But you know, I never focused on the simplicity of the signal switch or the wiper's. Martin, thanks! My turns are under 40K 2006, but besides the ease of the job, you pointed out that color change, so I won't have to do it twice, I'm changing out the wiper or at least have one if my purchase is like yours. The cars never been in the rain & even has the OEM window fluid, not used once. If the colors off, it goes, if not, I have to at least try it once.
This was really helpful. I really appreciated the hint regarding putting the lower steering wheel shroud back together. My biggest challenge was finding my 13 mm socket after it fell into parts unknown in the lower dash assembly. I eventually found it.
Hi Mike. I always watch your videos and I try to follow all your tips. Question for you, after I installed the turn signal and put everything back together. The canceling feature doesn't cancel the signal. My question is: is there a fuse that maybe got blown or
Thank You for this info! I recently came into possession of my girlfriend's '08 Sky. It has been abused by her ex in the distant past, and both arms are broken off. The car has been sitting since 2016 because of his damage. This is going to be much easier to fix than I thought, IF I can find the parts. Hopefully, I'll find info on changing the heater core, and that will be easy too! Thanx again. I just sub'd to your channel.
Thanks for the video. My turn signal started not cancelling a little while ago. How do you know it is the turn signal switch vs. the clock spring? Was going to just replace the turn signal first, but do not really want to open everything up if it is the clock spring and not replace that simultaneously.
When did you add the steering wheel audio controls? Did I miss that video? Was it already pre-wired and a simple install? I just bought a 2007 Sky and wanted to add that. Thanks!
Mike do you know if it is required in some states , I live in PA, to have a working return if the turn signals still work to pass inspection , if not how can I find out if the return has to work , my shop wants $ 240 to replace mine on a 2007 REDLINE .Are they just trying to pad the bill and do unnecessary repairs???
FYI. I didn't have a long enough extension to reach the steering wheel bolts so I removed that "bracket" with the six silver bolts. It dropped the steering wheel very low and made it super easyto replace the switch.
Thanks for making this video! I was just about to switch it on my Redline. Mine has gotten so bad that I have to hold the blinker down when making a left turn.
Hey Mike. Thanks for the video, install went fine but have the same issue with the new stalk. Any other ideas? Could it be the led bulbs? Help!!! Thank you!!
Thanks for the help Mike! Me: turn signal is going to be easy. GM: Hold my beer..... Wasn't too bad but unnecessary work. I left the bottom big piece off as its unnecessary.
Hi, thanks for the video, I also have to change both, where did you buy it if you can, and part numbers, I have a Soltice 2006, is it the same part?. thanks for the help
Looks like I can do it… just a question though you changed both the signal one on the left then changed the wiper on on the right .. do I need to replace the one that’s working too
It's not that difficult. The reason I changed both is because the new one's color was a little off from old one. I wanted both colors to match which is why I changed both.
Hope you didn't toss out the old one yet, the fix is to open it up and reverse the brass spring inside. I'm gonna have to do it on mine, it's starting to not cancel properly.
Hallo Mike! Magnus from Sweden here.. I own a Opel GT.... Great videos you do.... I have mount the short shifter (witch is absolute fantastic) and now also have ordered the Brace Bundle.... I have question about the rear lights.. Here in Europe the lights are white.... I want red ones like yours on the sky..... (my car is dark blue, so I think it would look great) I wonder if the turn signal is red or orange...... It is forbiden here with red turn lights..... If so any idea where to bay American ones? Looking forward for a answer and keep up the modding 😀😀 Best Regards Magnus
Again a great video Your washer fluid sprays from the wiper blades don’t they They do on my solstices Having the top up or down makes no difference Great video tho
Dang, changed out the part GM 20940099 and neither side will self cancel. The problem with my old one was the left direction would not latch so you had to hold it to keep it blinking during a left turn. When turning right the turn signal would latch but not auto cancel. So I put this new one in and it at least latches in both directions but no auto cancel. Any ideas? Maybe a shot in the dark but I think I will try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if maybe some body control module needs resetting. I'm not really sure how this works so like I said just a shot in the dark.
Ik this is really late but I just changed mine and you have to make sure the cover on top of the steering wheel is seated over (cylinder part should be inside the cover, not outside) the cylinder part of the turn signal switch. If the cylinder part is seated outside of the top cover that snaps together with the bottom cover piece then it won't self cancel
Changing Your Turn Signal Stalk: First, hoist your engine out of the engine bay...unbolt all 4 quarter panels...drop the transmission...take the differential apart. Sounds pretty simple to me.
Can you help me, when I turn the nob to headlights to light up it doesn't works. The headlights, dashboard and back lights don't turn on but my lights work. My brakes light turn on, my headlight works and dashboard but it doesn't turns on when I turn the nob at night mode to drive at night. Please help
Are you saying the lights where your gauges are won't light up? If so, there's a little vertical wheel on the left side of the steering wheel that adjusts the brightness of the guage (and other controls) lights. Turn it upwards to brighten those lights.
what a complete pain in the backside that looked like. Dont even know if I want to bother with that. Knowing my luck, I will definitely break something.....
That's something I've been thinking about doing. There's a company called Black Cat Customs www.blackcatcustom.com/ that have custom gauges that I may buy some day.
Hi Mike. I always watch your videos and I try to follow all your tips. Question for you, after I installed the turn signal and put everything back together. The canceling feature doesn't cancel the signal. My question is: is there a fuse that maybe got blown or
You're a life saver, Mike. Your tutorials are always helpful when working on our extremely user-unfriendly cars.

5 year old video helped me out today. Followed everything got it done fairly quickly

That was a good demo on taking off the switches. Thanks for the help and ideas thank you Sir

Thanks 🙏🏾 helped me with my Pontiac solstice. It’s was pretty easy to do!
My 08 Sol GXP just had this failure...the day I took it out of storage for spring! Thanks for the vid.

Thanks for posting! Gotta change mine out soon.

This is perfect, my turn signal handle failed about a week ago!
Great video! Helped me get mine swapped.
As another person said, the panel removal tool (inexpensive at Harbor Freight) really comes in handy.

Hi Juan. Thanks for the comments. You can get the turn signal and other stalk here.

Glad that worked out haha, now I know lol. I actually have to do that to my wife's Malibu, I had somewhat an idea.
Nice video.always top notch.love it

Magnus Persson to answer your question yes the tailights on a american saturn sky do turn red
how did you find the part numbers?
Again a great video
Your washer fluid sprays from the wiper blades don’t they
They do on my solstices
Having the top up or down makes no difference
Great video tho
They probably do. I wasn't sure since I don't use them much. Didn't want to take a chance :)

Thanks, same instructions worked for my Solstice.
That's great!!
Mike: Where can I find a passenger door handle for my 2008 Saturn Sky? Thanks
The Chevy Cobalt uses the same door handle so you'll probably find it easier by searching for one of those.
Can you help me, when I turn the nob to headlights to light up it doesn't works. The headlights, dashboard and back lights don't turn on but my lights work. @MikesHouseOfMods I did, to the max. My car aren't registering the nightmode, it's stuck in daylight. I try everything to fixed it.
Mike .get a panel remove tool.makes it alot easier
I actually have one, but was too lazy to get it out...lol.
what a complete pain in the backside that looked like. Dont even know if I want to bother with that. Knowing my luck, I will definitely break something.....
Just bought mine on 6 days ago and it had the turn signal broken
Mike......have you ever changed the horn on your sky?
No. I still have the same horn. Although, that is one thing that's been on the back of my mind. Maybe some day.
Can you make a video showing how to change the speedometer??
That's something I've been thinking about doing. There's a company called Black Cat Customs www.blackcatcustom.com/ that have custom gauges that I may buy some day.
Mine needs replaced. Won’t turn off...
Well now you know how to do it.
Blinker's broken? Car's totaled.
If I can do this, anyone can.
Forget it. Too much hassle. I got the same problem, but I'll take it to the shop.
Hi Mike. I always watch your videos and I try to follow all your tips. Question for you, after I installed the turn signal and put everything back together. The canceling feature doesn't cancel the signal. My question is: is there a fuse that maybe got blown or
