A story I hear a lot of in Japan. When someone is outcast from the inner circle of shop owners like this they are completely exiled. Anything to do with them & anything in the past no longer exists. It sucks you've been caught up in some dark Japanese culture but it's great to see you focus on the new story you're starting with the car! Excited to see where it goes!

"NO SECRETS" is both the greatest tip of the hat to this cars heritage and a magnificent cheeky little middle finger to the plans that fell apart. Forgetting the name it will be great to see this icon restored to it's former glory.

Zake Anderson maybe but when you have bad memories like that you don’t say “no” if this brings bad memories or smokey is sociopath
Especially the way DK and Orido and all this people trying to talk about street racing theres mystery but no deny, you can see the emotions and the memories when they talk or within the old DK movies (don t remember the name)
So presumably if someone die in this car he would respond “no sorry i can’t” or something...
specially when you see a non japanese fan i mean if your not japanese it s hard to guess what they are really thinking
Maybe smokey got his reasons but clearly he is an asshole at this time you can’t just say “no” 😞

I don't know, something smells fishy about Smokey denying that he had anything to do with that car. It sounds more like he may have gotten confused and thought it was the more well known 33. For that car to have so many Top Secret components, even down to the steering wheel (if I remember correctly, those wheels weren't exactly common right?), it's either someone who was obsessively fanatic about Top Secret, or they actually did build it and he just doesn't want to admit it due to bad memories. That's fine if that's the case, it'd just be cool to know for sure.

Probably just embarrassed about the standard that the car was built to back in the day and bad memories of business deals that didn't work out. I have driven the stretch of highway in New Zealand where he did a top speed run and it's crazy to think what he would attempt back in the day. Australia has some of the most die hard import car enthusiasts and meticulous builders because of what guys like Smokey started. I think the moment you handed over the Max Power magazine was the turning point - perhaps they thought you had an association with the English owner of the official ex demo car? The Japanese man Soichi who used to own ST Hitec in Auckland is a very close friend of Smokey's and he did everything he was ever asked to do in the NZ scene. Their gold 34 came to NZ in 2002 for a demo race VS Croydon (NZ's) R32 and Smokey arranged for the D1GP cars to come to NZ and many others. Very strange he reacted the way he did; I wouldn't take it personally. Stoked to see the aussie R33 in your hands. From what I can see it didnt have the "mid mounted" T88 kit to begin with (the TS kit had the turbo mounted lower than the T88 Greddy kit on a large runner manifold,- used a Sard wastegate and a 45 degree downpipe off the turbo instead of a 90 degree like the Greddy kit. Your R33 was perhaps a tribute car built by a fan of TS in Japan.

Imho Smokey’s Top Secret shop had absolutely a shit tonne to do with it but obviously fell out with the business partner that part owned it or owned the car or whatever that story is who then took the car and did what he wanted with it. Obviously the shop being what it was, wanted tight control over its products and this guy obviously didn’t adhere to that and showed it to the world. It’s imho 100% a top secret car, it’s a shame Smokey can’t get over the past and has to lie about it even not being a gentleman just straight rude to someone who travelled half way around the world.

This kind of reminds me of the "Devil Z" 240z from Wangan Midnight, Mysterious car with lots of backstories just dumped, waiting to get scraped. SAMMIT's response is what I think happened. Top Secret shouldn't care about it the car, hopefully, you transform it into something great! The car's real history starts now, with you as the new owner.

You guys remember the white veilside Gtr that came to NZ to do the top speed run?Where did that go?There was a rad RX7 and i do believe a Top Secret supra.would have been late 90's perhaps early 2000's.Subbed great channel!

While unlikely. I'd love to see this built with an full O.G: Trust/Greddy T88H kit with all the goodies. Use a Motec with e-throttle and torque based throttle map to control the show (you know so it's actually driveable.)
Even more points use a Greddy ITB plenum to keep the 6-ITB's and use a Jenvey e-throttle actuator.
    Looking forward to the series

Dude, first off, please rescue this car, make it right, and get an interior back in there once it's all straightened out! Next up, that sucks about Smokey man. Japanese can be pretty intense sometimes but don't let it get ya down, looking forward to see what you do with this!

*Got way deeper than I thought it would at the end, but really awesome story. I would have had my feelings hurt really bad if that happened to me. I bought a 300 dollar rear fog light from Top Secret, just so I can say it has a Top Secret Part lol.

Top secret mystery would also be a good name, I now want to find out what the link really is between top secret and this car, hopefully once it's done the recent story of the car will get back to Smokey and he will come to the party
