“Ang Bol-anon” was composed by Boholano (not Cebuano) composer Regino Bastes Dano. He swept music lovers off their feet with his “Ang Bol-anon," song that Baby Boomers love to play again and again. Dano came from Poblacion Ondol, Loboc town. The song was one of the repertoires of the Bohol-Tagbilaran Sanghimig Choir, the second time National Champion in National Choral competitions held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (1973) and Folk Arts Theatre (1974).

That’s true! I just went with whatever was noted on the record.
The same with Usahay. It’s often credited to Nitoy Gonzales of Cebu. It’s now a public domain song. But I’ve never seen any official credit given to him: like noted on the records themselves. Usually, because it’s public domain, it’s credited as a “Filipino folk song.” But there was a recent court ruling that credited the song to someone in Davao.
There also seems to be some confusion with regard to Kasadya as well. It has always been credited to Vicente Rubi (of Cebu) even as Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit. Levi Celerio provides the Tagalog lyrics. And Mariano Vestil provides the original Bisaya lyrics. But Josefino Cenizal claims that he wrote the tune! Which is not true! He claims he wrote in 1937 when the tune was around since 1933! Levi Celerio (a Tagalog) himself said that he does doesn’t know why Cenizal is claiming he wrote it. “It’s not true!” says Celerio.

Love this one, the arrangement is superb and the rondalla accompaniment is awesome. Never get tired of listening to this over and over again on my way to work and coming home from work and don't mind the traffic. Every time we visit, Bohol is an iterinary and my daughter learned to sing "balik sa Bohol balik" and sound so cute. Oh the memories are priceless! Mabuhay singers album is one of my favorite!
My dad used to sing this when I was a child. Really fond memories
