Chalfont & Latimer In The Snow

Chalfont and Latimer station on a bitterly cold snowy day.
Although the Chalfont - Chesham shuttle had been discontinued / replaced with trains that travel through to London the Chesham service is seen operating as a shuttle and using the bay platform.
The trains seen comprise Metropolitan Line A stock electric multiple units and Chiltern Railways diesel multiple units - I think they are all Class 165's, although earlier in the day I had travelled on a 168 on this route.
One of the London Underground Met trains has so many wheels with flat spots that it creates a rhythmic sound that is more reminiscent of a steam engine than an electric train!

If that was an 168, that must be really unusual. I thought only the 165/0s with their tripcocks could run on that route.

I think they were allowed if the front unit was a 165

I lived around there for years and don't ever remember one in service. Although I tended to use LU more as I lived in Chesham.

From memory I think it was winter 2010/11... just days before the zone 2-9 One Day Travelcards were withdrawn (1-9 still exist but cost 20 pence short of double the cost of 2-9).
