DW's Aisha Sharipzhan compiled a long list of must-dos: drinking beer, eating a pretzel and roast chicken and going for a spin on the ferris wheel are just a few of them.
Can she tick off all the things on her wish list on a budget of 100 Euros?

This was my first trip to Europe, my first time at Oktoberfest and what an amazing experience it was, and met so many wonderful people around the world. I budgeted about 130 a day but filled up on breakfast at the hotel before I went over to the festival.
I wish people in Munich, no matter visitors or locals, happy Oktoberfest!
@@djl7718 I wish a peacefull Wiesn
@@djl7718Or just: “wir schaffen das!”
When I was a student in Berlin, 100 EUR would buy me groceries for one complete month. ;)
I am currently a student and 45 minutes away from the Oktoberfest, never been there and I would never even think about paying almost 15 Euros for one Bier or spend 100 Euros in one day doing what she did xD
Awesome coverage. You did well covering Oktoberfest besides just the beer drinking. Well done!
Thank you!
Well, it's a folk festival after all. Pop culture just portrays it as a beer fest.
Very likeable, that's how you spend a day at the Oktoberfest, you don't have to get drunk in the beer tents, the Oktoberfest offers much more as Aisha has shown. ❤
Yes, you don't have to be in the tents, you can step into vomit outside as well.
I am from Munich and go to Oktoberfest every year several times. I love the atmosphere there, it's like entering another world everytime you go there. I love seeing everybody using the tradional clothes, the music, the smell of the foods, see the crazy rides, make friends,... Unfortunately it's very overcrowded sometimes but apart from that it's really a great event.
It should be set up on a larger space if it's over crowded, we don't want another Duisburg accident which means Oktoberfest will be shut down. On the other hand, shutting it down doesn't seem that bad when you see foreigners hijacking your own traditional regional event. Sorry
@@Mtl-zf9om as someone from munich, part of what makes it fun is having people from all around the world as well as locals. In my experience, most of the people complaining about foreigners are not from munich, but from the countryside that should maybe stick to their own local fests instead
Oktoberfest. Two weeks in year when Germans try to drink as much beer as Czechs every week.
😂

What most foreigners don`t know. The local breweries brew special Wiesnbier for the Oktoberfest which is quite strong at around 6%.

So what in your comparison is "Belgian beer" and what is "German beer"?
Both are traditional beer making countries with dozens of genres of beer and hundreds of breweries.
So if you don't specify, that's a pretty empty statement to make...
@@notroll1279 Not really, check the rankings, then come back again.
I‘m from munich and this is the best 100€ I‘ve seen someone spending😅
But I normally drink 4-5 Maß and eat in the Tent and then maybe Teufelsrad
It shoud have been mentioned that if the beer costs 14,50 you are kind of expected to pay 15 or 16 because of tips for the waitress. Otherwise a very informative video 👍
Good point.
It is a very demanding job. But in 18 days my friend earned over 15k. Tipping is definitelly not necessary, because the tip is already included in the very expensive price.

Girl, I enjoyed it for 30 back in 2019. a 100 is a stretch haha Beautiful as always!
Excellent report....
Oktoberfest is an amusement park with beer tent. And the beer tent is not only a drinking stuff. There is good music and vibe. By the third beer you got lots of friends there.
what a lovely and fun host. i hope she stays around.
Yes, she will. her next destination if everything works out: Bergen in Norway.
This host is awesome! So down to earth

That one Aussie wondering round trying to find a bar, at Oktoberfest! Facepalm
100 euros for just one day and beer is 15 euros ?!?!??!?!?!?!? Are visitors having 10 000 euros salaries???😢😢😢
Germany certainly is not normally that expensive

Wishing someday I could travel visit this country and tourist attractions
Nice video! I just been yesterday there. Thank you for sharing 🙂
All the food she ates, crazy :D
A very authentic video!
Congratulations! 🥨🍺
As an Oktoberfest neighbour i can say that! 🥨🍺❤️
Thank you very much!
I'm enjoying all the Oktoberfests here in Massachusetts, but would love to visit Munich for the authentic experience!
Where in Mass?
If you want it authentic you need to visit a Kerwa or a Fahnaweih in a small village
Oktoberfest is at least 50% tourists

I went to East Germany and my total budget was 100 euros. It was enough! I ate at canteens and shopping at supermarkets.
Where did u get ur top??
I was in Munich last August…half liter of beer was €4
Amazing the waitstaff carry such heavy, heavy beers!
one big thing you forgot to mention is the outfit you are wearing. It counts towards oktoberfest budget as well and is quite expensive ;) and yes, you could go in your jeans but I'm thinking you'd feel kinda "left out" seeing everyone else dressed up, so...
I’m going today!! Will be there in 3 hours!! 🍺🍻🎉
We hope you had a lot of fun! 😀
@@DWTravel it was sooo much fun! I want to come back ever year!
As an American, I think the prices are reasonable. Stuff in US is expensive. A single glass of wine at a restaurant would be like $16-25 so a big beer for $15 is reasonable.
That's interesting.
I was thinking the same thing. Margarita’s cost $12-$16+ nowadays. So to me a huge beer for $15 is cheap lol
man, I'm gonna miss the Wiesn
Beer & Pretzel in company, all you need!
This is insane
i would like to experience this sometime soon.
5:19 So lost, good luck finding a bar since there are only tents at the Oktoberfest .)
I was thinking people like this lady is what's making the event loose it's glamour. Might as well go to bar.
I think she was pre-gaming and was already drunk.
anyone know how to get ticket for next year?
€14.50 for a liter mug?! And I thought beer at a MLB/ NFL game was expensive. When I went in '86 I think a liter was DM 5.50.
Remember that a liter is almost 34 ounces. So that €14 stein works out to $7/pint, which is about what craft beer costs at a bar in the US, and is much less than macro beer costs at a major stadium.
Did you had to pay to get into the tent?
Considering you could've had six Mass beer and a free trip to the world famous Kotzhügel for 100 €, your Wiesn day was pretty wasted from a bavarian perspective.
😆

Even though it's September 24th we can't get enough Oktoberfest.
My friends and I planned to go in 2020...so, obviously that didn't happen. We've been postponing ever since, as we've gotten married over the years, but eventually, we hope to go!
Until then, I live vicariously through these videos, and honestly €100 is not bad for a whole day out.
If I was there. $70 on beer. $15 on chicken. $7 on preztel. $5 on dessert. $3 on tips to the lady bringing the beer. Thats how its done right
Vor lange Zeit war ich auch dort - aber bei den Heutzugagign Preisen, ne danke.
such a nice atmosphere
Loved the girl in this video. More videos with her!
Imagine how amazed an American will be when they taste proper beer.
German Beer is like any ordinary American or Mexican beer. No matter how Germans are proud about your beer, it's not much difference.
@@juanes1235no way 🤣
@@juanes1235 Hahahaha... no! I drank lots of beer from lots of countries and German beer is definitely at the top and Bavarian beer is top amongst all German beers.
I was not amazed! Of all the beers in the world German beer is far overated. After drinking over 500 different kinds of beer I can say for certain you can find great beer in almost any county. Especially New England style IPA(but not all) from American micro and craft breweries. BTW, the 4 kinds I had in Oktoberfest all made it into my beers I like category. They were Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Lowenbrau and Augustiner.
@@horsepowerandtalk1033I don't think it's overrated. There is great quality control in place and the country shows a diverse beer landscape from Pils in the North, unique Kölsch in Cologne to the different Weizen in the South. And that's only a few examples. I think it holds up to the reputation.
Alcohol and spinning wheels….. smart combo 😂
It is getting ridiculously expensive, yet tourists happily pay for such high prices.
I would rather get some food or eat something outside before entering Oktoberfest, or even get drunk with cheap beer from supermarket
If you're not drinking and partying in the tents with 5000+ of your closest friends you've never met your missing out.
.. to do what on the Oktoberfest ? Having a walk and look around ?
Isn't that the point?
Yeah good job Aisha!
Now
In my opinion, Germany has great beer! I can only think of three better beer countries, that being Belgium (1st), Czechia (2nd) and Denmark (3rd). Norway and Latvia probably has the best microbreweries.

You gotta pick one or the other. Either you drink like no tomorrow or enjoy those rides attractions. Youl'' be pukin your guts out all day if you trying to do rides after drinkin all those beers.
Yeah I imagine that’s the case.
What if.. You took the rides first then drink beer
its against the law and they will lock you up. you have to have at least 1 promille when entering grounds. 0.5 if you are under age. please keep informed abour rules and regulation! @@alihorda
Yeah was wondering how you could drink all of that and still go on a ride. That wouldn’t work out for me 🙅🏻♀️
Dorky fun for the whole liver.

And than you have to eat something, before riding the rollercoaster.
Top notch investigative journalism as usual. Cutting edge stuff.

@@DWTravelwhy are "woow"ing? This is the reality of Germany for the last 2 years. If you are a family of 4, 300 Euro are so possible in a day of Oktoberfest, excluding accomadation and transport! So, we are poor, thank you.
Seems fun, I however can’t get over 14£ for a coffee and pastry
I pay 10$ max any higher that coffee better keep my awake for the rest of the day

Beer is cheap in Germany, just not at Oktoberfest.
@horsepowerandtalk1033 I was just there last week , and it was about €14 for a massive beer glass that equals 3 beers , still not bad ..
@luisf2793 then it should be cheap for you , I literally just landed from California and I paid $6 for a water bottle when I dropped off the car rental , go to Sofia stadium or any event in California and you'll pay way more than Germany for anything
100 € is much money...
geeeeez, i remember the maß for less than 9€ xdd
14 euro for a coffee and pastry, come on
Last year(2023), it was e13.50, a litre, average.
Isn't 100 euros too much for a festival?
It is. But once in year - who cares...
Love from India hope i visit soon their Octoberfest to have a chug chug chug of beer 🍻🍺
100 € gets you away from Munich to literally every other Bavarian city via train ("Bayern-Ticket"). That's actually the better deal than to actually attend the Oktoberfest.
Everyone as they like. Lots of people just like Oktoberfest. That's why we were there. But thanks for the tip with the Bayern ticket!
Sure, and DB will either cancel your train, or make you miss your connection. I will take the Viesn!
@@davidlynch9049The DB might be a meme, but it isn't as bad as you may think. I'd avoid Munich at any cost during the Oktoberfest and I think that visiting another Volksfest or even Kirchweih in Bavaria might be also a very decent option. But that's the good thing: People can decide themselves what they're going to do :)
For me personally and many residents (in Bavaria, I am not from Munich), the Oktoberfest is just a overcrowded and overpriced mess, however, there are also locals enjoying it a lot. So it's as everything in life just a matter of taste. But I think that the Oktoberfest doesn't really make for a good impression and that Bavaria has way more to offer than an overpriced place to get drunk.
14€? for beer damn that got creazy expensive
Definitely expensive, but I guess it has to be more expensive to pay for putting up those huge tents (which are more like buildings than "tents"), and they only got 16 days to make up for that.
Well, normal prize outside Oktoberfest is maybe 10-11€ for a liter. But they announce "tip included", and the life music is included, of course you pay for the athmosphere.
If you rarely drink, 1 litre of 6% beer is more than enough.
Where did DW find the Ameri-Asian lady?
Aisha lives in Germany.
What about if you want to spend an afternoon with your family with 2 or 3 kids? Then it is not fun.

There's a big issue with everyone wanting euros and not many accepting cards at Oktoberfest. It was frustrating.
Nah it‘s tradition. We use Cash and Cash only on Oktoberfest.
That‘s why there are dozens of bank-automats all over the area:)

Yes, it certainly is.
this is an absolutely bullshit event, I took part in 2012 and already then they charged 10 euro for a double glass of beer, plus they charge also entrance fee into those beer huts, plus entrance on terrace was additional 10 euro, the toilet cost 5 euro - imagine that when you drink beer, it's literally golden showers, I remember I spent 100 euros just by crossing the place, I had one sausage, a pretzel, and two beers, plus there is a lot of drunk people, police, urine smell, etc, I recommend you take your 100 euro and make yourself a beerfest at your weekend house for one week
