When I first saw one of these cars on a car lot,
I was sure no more beautiful car could be designed.
When I saw the Challenger, I fell in love all over again.

I owned and loved a "67 Cuda Formula "S" with the 273 engine and auto tranny.. It had the dual point Mallory ignition, the big square exhaust outlet, HD suspension, red line tires, a medium blue color with blue interior, and chrome valve covers and air cleaner. A real factory hot rod in its day. I ate most Mustangs for lunch. It was fast.
Wish I had it now Beautiful car.

Mr77Malibu....Im a Ford man, but I've owned 3 extremely nice Mopars....my favorite, that I had to SELL to pay my exwife as part of our divorce decree!! was my '66 Sport Fury....273 small block with an insanely wide intake, 727 torqueflight, 8.75 snubbed posi rear end, black vinyl and loads of chrome body molding inside and out....my god I loved that car....

I was lucky enough to have had both a '67 and '70 Barracuda ... as one year old used cars.... both were low mileage adult owned... the 67 got 100,000 miles added in 2 years... the 70 was a Gran Coupe... high trim... air conditioning... VERY sharp. It got 100,000 miles added over 7 years.

This car was available in a fastback, a notch-back (with it without a vinyl top) and as a convertible. In the summer of 1972 before my sophomore year in college , I bought my Aunt Lillian's '67 vinyl-topped notch-back barracuda. It had about 24,000 miles on it. She let me have it for $500 even though it was worth a lot more. It was a white one with a black top and red "Naugahyde" interior. It had a console-shift automatic, a 273 small-block V8 engine with a 2 bbl. carburetor. It must've been a 273 or a 318 - I never found out because it never needed any work. I did have an 8-track tape deck installed and put a smaller wood-rim steering wheel on it. If it had been equipped with air conditioning it would've been perfect. I take that back . . . it really was perfect.

    What's with all the dislikes?
EDIT: In my opinion people shouldn't dislike a video just because it isn't available in their country yet. Disliking means you dislike the video itself. If people are really upset about availability, they should complain to UA-cam about it. Also, it sounds to me like the video is available everywhere now... so now there are many dislikes for no reason at all.

A die-hard Mopar guy I've owned three six pack cars. I agree Jay. The cars back then made you drive them. In fact I think a lot of Youth today would benefit from having to learn on the cars we grew up driving in the 60s and 70s. For me it was mid- to late 70s. And I still have a 70 Plymouth. Lightweight, tons of torque, but they just didn't have the suspension to get it to the pavement back then. The Hotchkis suspension definitely helps that with the older cars. Most of the hot rods we drove back then would just literally ignite the tires in Billows of smoke if you got on them very hard. Street racing them was a real chore. They were not slow. So although you mention the old Challenger is slower than the new one, I would say put some slicks on the old one and take them to the strip. They definitely had the horsepower they just did not have the ability to hook the tires up and that's why the times were different from the factory back in the day. Beautiful Barracuda though, and Hurst is a great compliment to that era of car. It's about the experience of the bare-bones muscle car. We didn't have any air conditioning, airbags, the shifters had to have a man's arm and hand behind them as well as the stiff clutches. Like I said before the cars made you drive them. Learn on one of those and you can drive anything. They could be a handful on slippery roads, and you had to have some finesse. But the satisfaction... You might be able to get it with the new one, but there's something about that old school horsepower, and the way it was put to the road.

I just rode in my grandpas it’s very loud and it raffles but when you hit the throttle it’s sounds amazing. He has a 1968 red automatic convertible with air conditioning. I don’t know if it’s a formula s or not but it has 275hp the interior isn’t from the factory but everything else is. You should see people wave at you. The most amazing feeling in the worlds seeing people interesting in it. He’s trying to sell it for 30k but I asked him to save it for me cause I loved it it also has a CD player installed so yeah. I’m glad people appreciate it’s existence cause it’s very cool in every aspect.

Rim is slang for wheel. Zlatan is just pointing out there's a difference between rim, wheel, and tire. Tire = rubber. Wheel = metal circle thingie in tire. Rim = outer circle/lip/rim of said wheel (metal circle thingie).

Always one of my top 10 American cars, ever since I was a little boy. Something about the grille, the fastback, the clean lines; it all seems so right. Someday I'd love to own a Formula S. Maybe the next time the collector's market takes a nosedive it'll be back within reach as a weekend pleasure car.

Had a pair of neighbors, one owned a '68 Hurst Olds 442 w/ 350 Rocket and the other had one of these '67 Hurst Barracudas w/ a 383(?) and Torqueflite. I always fancied the 'Cudas for their smoother lines and more svelte body style. Pop was drag racing a '67 Chevelle w/ a 327/4-speed and Mom was rallye racing a '64 Corvair 110HP and I got to be her co-pilot/map reader. Too much fun! That Corvair really shined in the twisties.

Aabeautiful car Jay. I had a Dodge Dart with 3 speed transmission and 318 V-8 engine. Raced a BMWW down I-59 to college in Tuscaloosa. Left him in my dust. Missed the Tuscaloosa exit due to speed and did not turn around until Moundville. That little car could smoke. But I thought I might die because it was not really made to go over 105 mph. At least mine shook a lot. ....:)

You should check out a PROPER Hemi A-Body. One of the about 50 of each, Darts, and, Barracudas that Mopar built that STILL dominate their class to this day. Hurst actually did all the conversion work on those. Got to drive one once. Absolutely INSANE cars. A friend of my dad's had one, a Dart, that had never been raced. Never had a cage put in it, never been tubbed. Spent it's life as the most insane street car around. I've been a Mopar fan since I was a little kid, and, getting handed the keys to that, even if only for the afternoon, was a dream come true!

One of my all time favorite cars. When I was 8 years old my best friends big brother bought a brand new '68 Formula 340 in dark green. It had those rectangular dual exhaust pipes. I remember helping him loosen up the clamps and adjusting them just right. He also had the Firestone Wide Oval tires. I remember him painting the wide oval logo with a small bottle of white paint to get that raised white letter look. As for this car, I'm not a fan of Centerline Drags. The rear tires are too thin. But all in all, a great car.

I have had a bunch of Barracudas. My 67 convertible with a 318 was my favorite, yet a 68 fastback was cool as the backseat could fold forward and the trunk would fold back, a huge deck for sleeping with glass above to see the stars. I miss old cars...

this is the upload time i have become so accustomed to. the last month has been all over the place. it's weird how you expect something, and when it doesn't come you're literally a little bummed out. just for the sheer fact that you plan your evening around it. lmao. anyway, i like this upload time! ;)

I wonder, when are you going to have Jeremy Clarkson over for a tour of the Garage? That'd put 2 of my (and i would suspect, most of this channels' viewers) favorite gear (petrol) heads together, among great cars, with different points of view, great stories, and the inevitable laughs. And of course, the occasional drive. Or who knows, maybe Jeremy's new show will allow for that sort of visit.
    'Fuel' for thought...
    PS: Love the show!
