  • What are the human rights considerations in the response to COVID-19? How can societies move to control the spread of the virus in ways that do not create panic or unnecessarily restrict communities? What are critical considerations as governments try to strike the right balance between restrictions and depriving people of the ability to live their lives? Dr. Josh Sharfstein talks to Len Rubenstein, Conflict and Health program director of the Center for Public Health and Human Rights.

Human Rights need to be explored further in the light of the Covid 19 pandemic. This discussion is a good place to start but we need to keep the lines of communication open and make sure we are careful to consider what the collateral damage might be. Are extreme measures to stop the spread of the disease doing more harm than good? We won't know until some time has passed. What will the effects of social isolation be on the elderly? So many unanswered questions. At the moment we have to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

Ref: elderly Depends upon the mental state of mind of the individual. Maybe volunteers calling them might help bridge the gap.
