  • This is the first of a three part series on how I perform my remote PP switch modification to the Minelab Excalibur. It's not your typical PP mod. I hope you watch even if you don't own an Excal..

    Very ingenious idea. Your presentation was very easy to follow, unlike many "how-to" videos I see on UA-cam.

    Thank you for coming up with this Tony. Your videos are giving me the courage to consider some mods and I just e-mailed you about parts. George.

    Impressive Tony. You remind me of an old friend. He would tell me. If man made it it will break..If man made it I will improve on it..if man breaks it I will fix it. 🇨🇦 great stuff Tony look forward to #2 & #3. Cheers.

    tony- this is a great video. easy to follow and understand. The downside is with my history I would start the project then get messed up and have to look for someone to fix my mess. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3. If you ever decide to do this for others for a fee of course please let me know.

      Hi Joe. Yeah, I had the same issue a while back. I tried my hand at brain surgery and it just didn't work out.. Had to call in an expert. In the end, patient survived but the result may explain some of my wife's erratic behavior as of late:)..
      PM or email me and I'll tell ya what it'll cost ya for me to do it for ya.. That is the Excall mod, not the brain surgery...

    Thank you sir for the time and effort of putting this vid together for us, will any multistrand conductor cable work like for instance irrigation valve to controler cable? Cant wait for part two. Gl and hh.

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому

      My pleasure Alex. I don't think I'd use just any old multi strand wire. I don't think it would last long after a few thousand flexes. The wire I use is hi flex cable and it is also UV, water and oil resistant. Part 2 is up bud..

    Excellent video Tony. I like your video. And can't wait for the next one. I will save it for my eventual mod on excal ... Only thing I don't know is how to make those connections waterproof and able to withstand pressure of water.
    It is EDs excal?

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому

      Thanks.. Watertight conns are pretty easy. As long as you fill all voids with some kind of waterproof sealant before you shrink tube them. They should stand up to extreme water pressure. Yes, this machine belongs to Ed..

    Sweet Tony I have been waiting for these videos.Im gonna mod my Xcall over the winter. Question,I know your more of a wet sand hunter then a water hunter.Myself im chest deep most of the time.How do you think this mod will hold up being completely submerged in the saltwater 100%of the time?As always great video thanks for your time....GL HH

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому

      I'm chest deep a lot in the heat of the summer. I'm quite sure my switch will withstand 100% immersion with no problem.. I'm going on 2 years with my original design.. Thanks for watching bud...

    hey Tony at 4 minutes and 45 seconds into this video you show a bunch of the wires soldered together did you have to isolate those to keep them for shorting out?

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому

      HI buddy thanks for watching. Yes, I apply liquid tape and heat shrink each
      solder joint separately. I show how this is done on the clip following this one.
      All the best...

    Tony can you do a video on checking cal batteries and charger. Mine is having an issue. It would be good to have a reference.

    • @TonyEisenhower

      Dunno if it helps but I use an after market smart charger. It makes a big difference in batt life IMHO...

    Interesting.
    what is the switch your using and its screw holder ?

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому +1

      I make my own system out of two different flashlights. The cut-down barrel and switch holder from one and the tail cap switch and neoprene switch cover from another. Aqua Seal and epoxy makes them watertight. I expect close to an IP68 rating.

    Sorry to say, the interest may be a bit on the underside of grand. Perhaps Kate Upton would draw a few more viewers, but I doubt it. Ask the doc to be sure he leaves no sponges inside on his quest for polyps!! Good luck

      LOL. I may have used some of the same type of pod material during the soldering process, but I'm not sure..

    I recently purchased a excalibur with this mod and not sure if I'll care much for this mod. If I decide to not have this fracture hiw can it be undone?

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  3 роки тому

      Depends on how the mod was done. Send me a couple pics of what you have to tony@idigbeaches.com and I’ll try to give you a better answer. But if I were you, I’d keep it like it is for a while. It might just grow on you. I love mine😆

    Sorry Tony, but you lost me. I don't have an Excalibur and any of the tools or expertise necessary for this - so it's about as interesting as watching someone else's colonoscopy. I'll wait for dog beach....

    • @TonyEisenhower
      @TonyEisenhower  7 років тому +2

      Well dang Sandy!! I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy next year and I was hoping to make a video.. Are you saying it might have a limited audience??
