Ed, I've got a Sonerai IIL with a 1835 HAPI (single port/dual plug heads, 1 mag, 1 electronic ignition) sitting in about 1,000 pieces in my hangar right now. Need to assemble it and some tail dragger time but your video is great motivation for me! What surprised me most was how good the visibility was during touchdown, rollout and taxiing; is visibility from the rear seat of the S2 this good or is this attributable to where your camera was mounted?? Where are you based? I'm at KARR. Mitch
I usually fly from 60R - Navasota TX. As for vis: It's the camera location! In the air, visibility is great. On landing forward view is blocked from over the fence to touchdown - you have to rely on peripheral vision. Same with taxi. better vis when the canopy is open. Get that bird in the air!
I have been considering building one for quite some time. What engine are you using? I would love to see you loading and unloading from your trailer as well. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
It's a GPAS 1835 with Bosch 009 and Slick mag dual ignition and an Aeroinjector carb. Super simple. I have some vid of the unloading and loading process - I do it solo and it takes about 45 minutes to set up when I arrive at the airport.
Do you often do the approach with that high of a speed or is it just because your parking spot is on the far end of the airfield? Which airfield is it?
Recommended normal approach speed is around 100 and over the fence at 70 - 80 mph. No flaps. I hadn't flown in a while and I'm still "learning" to land. Plenty of runway and no traffic that day. 60R.
Beautiful Sonerai keep the vids coming. I'm thinking about buying one soon.
Go for it! It's a great little airplane. I have another one under construction - the stretch model: a little more legroom and a bigger engine.
Gotta love that German engine out front..
Ed, I just came across your video. I live in Tomball and would love to come and see your Sonerai. Any chance of that happening? Thanks.
Sure - send me a PM and we can set up a time. I live in Montgomery just south of the lake.
Nice landing!
Thanks - every landing is an attention getter!

I'll post the video once I ge a chance to edit a little (people always come by to shoot the (you know what)... So will edit that out!
@@edbell3631 Thanks! I look forward to watching.
