Yes finally!! I requested this a while ago. It was really hard for me to choose what song to request from this series because a lot of them are fantastic imo. This one was best experienced in-game in one of the boss battles. It stuck with me because the boss battle was on a whole other level, that I was stuck on it for quite a bit. This kept looping in the background, and it wormed its way into my head, this song felt like it was encouraging me to continue and not give up. When I finally beat the boss it was nothing like I experienced before in a game, at that point.
The Falcom Sound Team doesn't get anywhere near the kind of notoriety they deserve. Not all of their songs are created equal, of course, but when they make a good song it is the tastiest of jams.
This piece particularly is most associated with a specific character. It really fits her well, she's a kind of stoic warrior type and this song really conveys a feeling of facing a serene, elegant power. As for the balance between science fiction and fantasy, the Trails series is pretty much just in the middle. This is reflected in the OST where in some parts you'll hear more organic sounding instruments, and in others you'll hear a heavy use of synthesizers. Well the entire thing is synthesized, but you get the point.
In one of his interview, Kondo, President of Nihon Falcom and creator of Trails/Kiseki series told Falcom JDK Team that all of the ost of the games must consist what he calls, "a beginning, middle, and end". Kondo said to them that the soundtracks must flow like how you're telling a story. Hence why the three parts. I think you can notice this format to most of their ost
Aw yes, here we go! Falcom's music is LEGENDARY, but also so unknown and underrated. Unfathomed Force is a boss theme for a certain character that's also very legendary within the game's lore. She's so strong and skilled that merely finding an opening to knock off her helmet is considered a feat. If you want more Falcom, I recommend Spiral of Erebos.
For another LoH music, I suggest Azure Arbitrator, Blue Destination, and Silver Will. Blue Destination, and Silver Will both very iconic for respective series (Trails of Cold Steel, and Trails in the Sky), while Azure Arbitrator is a banger last boss theme.
What's amazing about Unfathomed Force isn't just the music; it's also remarkable how it goes very well with the fights, e.g. Campanella, Arianhod, Mariabell...
Thank you so much for reacting to my fav videogame franchise ever, the developers of these games are siuch genius when it comes to the soundtrack and their songs have become my absolute favourites. I would love if you could react to other great masterpieces of this franchise such as Great power from trails of cold steel 1 or Phantasmal blaze from Cold steel 2
Thanks for this! Nihon Falcom's OSTs are famous for being excellent, and they also have a lot of them. They are one of the oldest JRPG companies, after all
yessss omg i wasnt expecting a reaction to music from trails, let alone ao no kiseki of all of the games, but since ao is not only my favourite but imo has the best ost, i am SUPER glad. if you don't mind, for more ao no kiseki music, i'd highly rec my two favourite tracks, whether for a reaction or just for personal listening: "delusion of a thousand years" and "mystic core"
Oh man this series, such great tracks all around. I personally think it peaked at Sora no Kiseki the 3rd OST - Dreamy and Boisterous Holy Land, even if it's not a react be sure to check it out!
I've wanted to see you react to Falcom music for a while now great to see you reacting to this song! If you ever have the time please check out GENS D'ARMES Super Arrange ver. from Ys VIII. Hope to see more Falcom on your channel keep up the great content man 😃
The part after the intro with the strange drum pattern is in 7/8 beat. That's my favorite part, especially how that intro builds into it. It gives me that "Oh, it's going down now!" type of feeling. This beat feels so elegant and aggressive, the way they emphasize certain beats, I imagine it as a skilled fighter moving to the beat, almost like a dance, and swinging their weapon on the accentuated beats. The opponent in this boss theme is a traditional female knight in full armor. She's supposedly a legendary hero from another era, who is somehow alive in the present and is now seemingly fighting for the bad guys. But she's portrayed as an honorable person who just have a different perspective, rather than a fallen knight who have turned evil. I really think the song fits her well. The classical style, and then the choir of high female voices fits really well, giving it that angelic feeling which fits well with her supposed immortality.
I recommend trying "Kiseki no Umi" by Maaya Sakamoto, the opening's track from the tv anime "Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight"! :)
Hello Atlas, I've discovered your channel just recently, and I am really enjoying the content. It's always very interesting to hear insights of a composer on various compositions. Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your work and the content that you are providing. Who knows, as I stick around, maybe I will come up with a request of my own. :D Keep up the good work and good luck.
Yes, this is the theme of a powerful boss, and the name of the song: Unfathomed Force, really suits it. In my mind, the intro is when the player/characters are getting cautious as this really powerful enemy is regarding them. Like "um, ah, what's going on? Am I in over my head?". Then that transition drops, and the boss comes at us, causing us to go "oh, shit". And then we finally regain our equilibrium.
Yesterday I bought trials in the sky bc I wanted to experience this story, but I just read that some sequels like Trails from zero that are not available in English, can someone tell if it's impossible to get the English version?
there are fan translations (i would recommend the geofront one myself). also they are not quite sequels. the story in trails in the sky is complete so there is no need to worry that you might not be able to finish the story. i would still recomend playing them if you can but you dont absolutly need to to enjoy the rest of the games
Get the original sky trilogy with voice mods, get the Crossbell duology with geofront patches and voice mods, grab the cold steel series and that's about it for now. You can later enjoy the gaghrav trilogy on the psp
I hope that you will do "Geofront" From what I understand It's very interesting from the musical point of view. It's really very... original, or special. I never heard anything like it.
I'd have preferred something from the Trails in the Sky trilogy, but this was alright too. Silver Will is probably my favourite of the late-game songs.
Hello, good sir. I can't speak for the technical aspect of this piece, but I can speak for the emotional part. I'm afraid you did yourself a great disservice by not watching the cutscene this piece plays over nor the boss fight that follows. You were on point that Unfathomed Force evokes a feeling of fantasy, because it's a feeling that's so out of place in the game. Ao no Kiseki is an Urban Fantasy. Other than a few fantastical elements like being able to attack with magic or melee weapons in an era where assault rifles have been invented, the people, the surroundings, are just the same as what you'd find in a normal modern big city. This is why the feeling of Unfathomed Force feels so alien and out of place. The player characters were facing down a being that the world had not seen of her kind for centuries. It is the hardest boss fight in the game that requires proper strategy and meticulous timing to survive. It is a setup that spans the length of at least two games in order for the player to feel the magnitude of the stakes they're playing for and the insurmountable obstacle they face. The fact that Falcom's sound team could convey all that weight within the first five seconds of an intro is nothing short of sublime. TLDR: The Trails games are masterpieces. You should play them.
Atlas...
Would love to see you react to "Tabi no Tochuu" by Natsumi Kiyoura (from the anime Spice and Wolf). The song has a lot of layers and has a really unique feel to it that imo just gives you goosebumps
Hi 😁. I’m a new subscriber. Found you listening to dark souls soundtracks. How about trying some halo, or silent hill stuff. I’m curious to see what you think of them. Maybe someone in the community can recommend some from those two series. It’s cool to see someone appreciating music in games😌
I recommend you listen to Kamado tanjiro no uta from the anime demon slayer And con lentidud poderosa from risk of rain 2 Con lentidud poderosa was made by the same person that made demon slayer and kamado tanjiro no uta was just very hype
I know you reacted to serpent eating the ground, but Revo did Bravely Default 2 final boss theme as well. It is at least on par with SETG so you should definitely react to it! 😁
Very cool review!^^ I don't know whether that would be possible but can I suggest you to react to "Dreamenddischarger" from a visual novel called Umineko no Naku Koro Ni (When The Seagulls Cry")? I think it would be very interesting^^ (Of course, there are other great tracks such as lastendconductor, Hope, Alive... ^^')
This series is made up of ten, going on eleven games, and they all have music like this. Some of my favorites, like Spiral of Erebos, came much later. Although Silver Will was introduced early on, three games prior I believe.
Hey, can i ask if you could do a reaction to the Berserk Raviente themes of mhf? (each themes loop once in Dravonista's version). I'm not really fond of asking things, but i'm quite curious of what you could say on it. (and i think it's sad mh musics always pass under the radar). Have a great day o/
Final fantasy 13 The Promise is beautiful! I think you’d love it. It’s so hopeful and soothing for me😁 . Edit never mind I just listened to it and it’s just a piano. It’s still beautiful though
Spolier alert, you have been warned!!! didnt play Ao, but the song screams Arianrhod/Lianne all over.
Overcome all the barriers
@@alvinalianto5643 good guess.

Gotta do Azure Arbitrator now, arguably one of the best boss themes in any game.
Yes.
YES
Ohh god please yes I would love that.
I mentioned that one on an earlier video! AMAZING song.
YES PLEASE. I've been posting this for a while
Aww shit son!
If you are popping the top on LOH, Spiral of Erebos is lit as hell. And Whereabouts of Light.
Aw yes, here we go! Falcom's music is LEGENDARY, but also so unknown and underrated.

Holy shit someones actually doing the trails series
The Trails series has some really good music. Unfathomed Force, Decisive Collision, One-way to the Netherworld, Belief (Super Arrange Version)
What's amazing about Unfathomed Force isn't just the music; it's also remarkable how it goes very well with the fights, e.g. Campanella, Arianhod, Mariabell...

Still waiting for you to react to "Tie A Link Of ARCUS!" From legend of heroes trails of cold steel

That song is one of my favorites from the _Trails_ series in general.
Blue Destination > Tie A Link 😋

this is the theme song of a very powerful and beautiful woman of this video game franchise. they nail it after all the build up for this character
They really nailed it with this track. Fits the character perfectly. It's mysterious, calm, imposing, yet sad at the same time.
gooood finally Legend of the heroes !!! thx for making more video about game !!! thx you you gain a follower ;)
Again, i had no clue about this too. This requests are really surprising!
Damn, i saw Ao no Kiseki and i was hoping it would be azure arbitrator! Unfathomed force is still amazing though
