You had me in tears with these beautiful photo's just at a time that my own photography was blocked by external issues. Thank you, seeing these shapes in the water in the same way I look at clouds. You changed my entire perspective on photography. I fall asleep with your podcasts. My favorite poet Rumi says : "Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place". And you did just that.

Hello Kim, I'm not sure where to start really, or what to say that others haven't already said. I can honestly say I don't think I have ever seen so much beauty in one video. Starting with the natural beauty of the location and amazing water, followed by the wonderfully beautiful way you captured as much as you were able, and the truly beautiful and peacefilled way you presented the entire video. Thank you!! ❤
In answer to your question, there are two things I'd love. Definitely a book is one. The second is a set of 6 x 4 images on card, because a part of what I do is walk along side people who are struggling with various issues in life. One thing I try and get them to do is to use any camera at their disposal to take a daily image that speaks to them for any reason. I encourage them to then choose around 6 images a month and get them printed so they have the tactile image to look back on. When doing this with them I take along pictures I have taken and printed to hopefully encourage them.
I'd love to be able to use some of your truly stunning images to inspire the folk I meet.
I am so looking forward to the privilege of sharing in your continuing journey. Thank you again ❤❤

What a wonderful compilation of abstract images, truly some of your best work yet. Ironic how as photographers we capture images that we couldn’t have envisioned at the start of the day, only to capture a series of remarkably unique moments in time. Very well done and well presented in the video Kim!

Every week Kim I say, "I'm not going to bother Kim again with my comments!" But then I get to the office and up pops the notification of a new video and I feel compelled after sharing our weekly time together to tell you once again how much I look forward to and enjoy accompanying you on your weekly journey. You never disappoint and you are the perfect way to start another work day and set a great tone for my week. Thank you Kim. PS Over the years I've learned not to put off taking images when they present themselves. On most of my travels to do photography I am accompanied by my husband Charles. Of course he is so good to help me and he seldom complains when I say let's stop (for the umpteenth time). So I get to the point that I hesitate to ask him to stop again or stay longer in a spot as I feel he has been so patient up to that point. And I convince myself the image I see and imagine how I would shoot it will present itself again either just down the road or maybe tomorrow or even later that week. But I have learned not to do that. Well at least not nearly as often. Because often they don't present again! As usual you have given me yet another good instruction on my photography journey. And I think of all the photos I have taken that mean so much to us and I realize they would not have happened had I not taken time to stop or maybe even turn around and drive back a mile or two to capture them. Even on our own farm so many of the picturesque spots have been forever changed by storms. It's good to remember that the landscape is forever changing so capture the moments you love while you can. Love your photos in today's video. When I shoot water I am often amazed when I load an image how gorgeous the colors are and so vivid. Hard to see everything at the moment of capture.

Lovely abstract images Kim. I am sure yet what you could do with them but the river is a metaphor for a journey. The river finds its own path and in time cuts a path for all to follow. The river brings life to the nature and ends its journey at the sea where it starts all over again. A form of circle of life.

The floating foam with the mesmerizing reflected colors are absolutely amazing. I can understand what you meant by saying you could stare at them for hours. Incredible photos, thanks so much for sharing your work!
It would be interesting to try a collage with those images, maybe a square formation of 9 images, play around with the orientations and shapes, see if the whole forms yet another creature. The set of 9, or another number you prefer, could create a beautiful wall cover.

A public library would be the first stop to put a display of your images up to show the public, and the other place just maybe if there are any empty shops around near you ask the agent if you could display some of your images in the shop window don't put too many on display though! Personally I would not bother with a book, remember there is not a lot of money around in these present times! Once again I liked looking at your abstracts but they are not everybody's cup of tea, most people would prefer landscapes and I am sure you must have plenty of those to show people.....Thank you, take care....

There’s nothing quite like holding a book or Zine of your images. There are many services that make it quite easy to create these. A Zine is very inexpensive. If you are not sure how to create them you can watch UA-cam videos on how to do it plus there are many classes offered that will teach you. I just completed a class with Santa Fe Workshops online that showed me how easy it was to create a Zine. It is something that you could sell or share with others to show them what you are doing. I am enjoying your videos. Best of luck on your journey.

These are very good images and I think that you should try to get them into an exhibit. Look not only at Art Galleries but dining establishments, Taverns(Pubs), and Theaters. Look around and ask if you could display them at different sites. I have watched your channel for a while now and say you make some good videos, keep them coming. As for a book? I think it would be best to hold off until you have a larger body of work, make more images so you can fill a book with outstanding images, or even a second book if the first one is a success. I have been a photographer for about 60 years so I am coming from that perspective. You are improving all the time and already have a lot of good work to show.

I naturally went to book and exhibition. Perhaps a contemplative type book could be the go. Your ripples, full frame, in the water are great. You really tapped into the essence of the universe, as good art should.
You mentioned time as an aspect of photography. Photography is very linked to time. A photo is a slice. Before is different and after is different. You can never go back and the future is yet to be seen.
So if you try to return to the same place or tree or anything again it will be different. Even the super basic things. Even if it's the exact same time of year and time of day it's different because time has moved. The leaves, the lichen and so forth have grown or not but changed forever. Not just days or years or weather, are part of the change. 1 /1000's of a second passes and it's a new world. That world just keeps moving. After years as a photographic artist I have had my awareness of this fact illuminated by photography itself. Good medium to work with if it can heighten your sense of reality.

The colours in Morayshire look so beautiful. Hubby and myself headed over to the Inverurie side of the shire yesterday and it was much more colourful than the side of the shire where we currently live. It was great to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful colours... I thought we had missed autumn here because it is so dull and grey on our side. Perhaps the winds we had a week ago removed much of our colour. Anyway, really enjoyed Inverurie and the surrounding area and managed to photograph quite a few autumnal images. Would love to go back again next weekend, but like you say, the scenery won't be the same next time around, but maybe... just maybe it will have held on to its colour. Enjoyed your abstract images - especially "Blue Flames".

    • @kimgrantphotography
      @kimgrantphotography  10 місяців тому

Thank you Alan! The issue with adding exposure details is every situation we photograph in will require different settings. When I'm doing more abstract work, I also don't think much about my settings. It's the last part of my process. I understand how they can be helpful in some situations, though. I find the best way to learn is to play around. What camera and lenses you use along with what focal length, tripod/handheld and light available, will all determine the final settings. Unless you're in the same location at the same time with the same equipment, the settings cannot be copied. I hope this makes sense. I do add them when I feel it's beneficial 😊

These should definitely be a themed exhibition.
I must admit I was of two minds watching this video. On the one hand, as pure images, these are fantastic and beautiful. On the other hand, I found the ones with foam disconcerting, since it is likely that foam came from industrial pollutants in the river. (While there often is naturally-occurring foam caused by decomposition of organic compounds like leaves and branches, it will normally be off-white or tan. Pure white foam, as we see here, is usually chemical runoff.) It’s a shame that the primary subject for images ostensibly celebrating nature may be the result of the endangerment of nature by human technology.

A small amount of foam as seen here is much more likely from the surfactant properties of naturally derived organic compounds from the breakdown of decaying plant and animal matter in the water.

Thank you. I am no expert on river pollutants but I am relatively confident that the foam here is natural. This river is very clean and pure. It changes a bit at the entry to the sea but this high up, there's very little pollutants around

Wonderfully imaginative theme, Kim. Particularly attracted by the elephant and prehistoric dog. Thank you for the photo inspiration.

The colors and movement looked as if they were molten metals flowing. Beautiful photos.

Beautiful shots Kim, imagines that will never be seen again. Thanks for sharing with us, have a blessed and safe week ahead. I am sure framed prints would sell, a calendar.
