    My high tunnels (2) are 60 x 25 ft cost about 3500 eur/usd a piece. I bent the rostfree pipes and built the roof structure myself.. saves alot but takes time. Snow load is heavy and you need good structure for that. Otherwise you need to clean the snow from the roof because it does not always slide down by itself.

    Yup. Cement stained lumber works just fine.

    I've always liked the look of used concrete form boards. It's sort of a random gray finish and you get some nice wood shinning through here and there and it gives it that rustic non-pattern look but still turns out to be almost symmetrical in a way, in the multi-color distribution. I tend to like it better; it gives your raw projects character.

    It looks great Curtis. I like the functionality of the whole entrance. Why struggle with a huge door every day, less is more in that design. Love it.

    My dream to have a greenhouse like this! I also live in a very snowy area with short growing season, which is such a game changer for all things gardening. I wish I had the skills to build. Good job, Curtis.

    I was leaning towards a Chinese greenhouse for this year’s project, however this is a great, cheaper and faster option.

    I like the idea of this type of greenhouse because it's a direct conversion of the sun's energy without as much energy losses. It's pure and simple and passive.

    Good video! Well explained! How many years will the poly last? And can tears/rips in that poly be repaired easily?

    • @garthwunsch
      @garthwunsch Рік тому +1

      GH poly typically lasts at least 6 yrs. Best repair tape is Gorilla clear UV protected.

    Thank you for the informative video. The end wall vents are similar to mine here in Western Washington. I placed a cheap 20 inch box fan in one end opposite from the prevailing wind and utilized a roof vent thermostat. It is set to come on automatically at 85 degrees and works great for venting when a quick heat phase comes up and I am not available to open other areas for venting. It also shuts down automatically as the sun goes down to retain heat over night. Thank you and I look forward to all of your content.

    The drip edge over the rigid insulation is a great idea. I have been wondering how I might improve that portion. Thanks for sharing.

    This video has empowered me with the knowledge of how to erect a similar high tunnel on rocky sloped land. I previously dismissed the idea not knowing how to go about it. Thank you so much for showing and explaining how you dealt with both these issues.

    My grow zone is 8B I wonder if I would still be a 3 season with this green house? We don't typically get more than a couple inches of snow that usually melts off in less than 2 weeks.

      4 season for sure if u put row cover over the crops. You still need light to grow in winter tho depending on how south you are.
