A fan of the Mamas and Papas, I enjoyed John Phillips’ songs. The band expired and Phillips’ controversies kept me away from anything he put out. Now I am older, have learned to forgive, and now I return to Phillips, and he lives again and forever, through the magic of excellent songs. John P, you are missed. And forgiven.
Such a gorgeous song by the legendary John Phillips. What a gloriously tender steel guitar pervading this beautiful track throughout. Wonderful rhyming lyrics, ... and that gentle voice, though allegedly not the perfect gentleman himself. But JP has left us a legacy of timeless songs and we can be eternally grateful for that. RIP, John Phillips.

He farmed the words and notes, did the unthinkables, so they kept his name, brought empty buckets to fill not with loyalty but royalties.....,.... The price we pay for taking what is not ours....... .Find God that's s start.
That what i was just thinking. I found a good price for an original pressing but I'd never heard the album so i went searching. The song s good but hard to get over the lyrics 😂
@@bromf5372I wasn’t sure if i was hearing that lyric or not until i read these comments. Yeah as a gay guy who has just just discovered this beautiful album it’s a bit disappointing.

my favorite track from what is one of my favorite albums of all time
they ran his name into the ground. this album is timeless. RIP John
Beautiful ballad. Bought the album at the time, lots of great music on there, phenomenal composer for mama's and the papa's
Extra lovely
Great album, imagine the Mamas and Papas singing these songs
Que hermosa canción.
John Phillips - outstanding talent - intoxicating but it stops there

Such a great album...the Wolfking was a genius
Mmmm....some louche goings on here....most likely with beautiful views of the Pacific as well.
You only can say that after his history. In 1970 nobody knew what John would become, not even john .
Y isn’t the album on Spotify
It sounds a little to George Harrison in his All things must pass.
Im here before anyone says that came from x reference...
Is that jerry garcia on steel pedal guitar?
In the credits they are credited in pedal steel guitar, Buddy Emmons and Red Rhodes. Jerry Garcia does not appear.

how about they lied about him
hmmm... some pretty dated lyrics here. Good song but if I were LGBQ I'd probably think otherwise.

@@TheRyanH. I wonder what the intent of that lyric was? This album is so full of odd dark imagery that its hard to take it all at face value.
gay guy here, not pleasant to have to hear that word whenever i hear this album but no other album gives me this vibe so i just gotta deal with it
