    I met Jake in Kenya back in 2013 when I was on a training stint and he was just as tenacious and focused back then as now. These guys would do a 45-60 min session with almost no rest between sets of different core and strength exercises - the amount of work output was incredible.

    Wow that's some pretty interesting mental training.
    Back when I was training for my marathon, I would do 16 miles: 4 miles out 4 back to home. Then I would force myself to not stop once and just turn around for a second lap.
    Really helped the "don't give in" mental strength

    Nothing inspires you like a killer marathon workout. I am not shitting on other distances, but marathon training is inspiring AF. Can’t wait to jump into a marathon block sometime in the future. Ready for that suffering.
    Maybe some constructive criticisim: too much cutting / editing while he’s talking? It gets a bit weird and you might not be making the talk much more dynamic? It’s a bit distracting I think and it kinda messes up the flow of some explanations.

  • @hannesaltenfelder4302
    @hannesaltenfelder4302 2 роки тому

    Very good insights. If I was him, I'd jump right into your camera, when you put it in his face. No offence, but when you run the last quarter of your race, you are so pumped with aggression against anything, that might disturb your flow😇
    What helps me at the last hard miles the most is:
    -no distance on the watch, just power/pace and the time. So I know only approximately when to kick in the last miles/how long I must keep the pace, but not exactly.
    Another tactic is to count to ten again and again, because once I know I have to run 2 more miles, especially when I am on the track, I start to calculate in my mind how long/how many rounds until the finish. It is that moment, when my mind decides it is not possible to finish.
    Therefore I do not give my mind the chance to calculate.
    In the army I did the cooper test and I calculated that I had to count 720 seconds until finish, BUT I counted way too fast. So when I had counted to 720, I thought: come on, it should be over any second (I was just halfway through the test). Never in my life did I run that hard again. Faster, yes, but never so close to collaps. When I finished, I breathed so hard, it felt like suffocating. There was simply not enough space in my lungs to get any better for at least 5minutes.
    It's also a good comparison in case I want to give up, I tell myself:
    you are not even near to that moment after the cooper test.
