Everyone acts like the Game and Fish doesn’t control the number of deer taken. You only get so many tags it’s not the weapon used that controls your bag limits. This is arguably better than crippling deer with a muzzle loader and will help get more younger hunters into the sport so it’s not all bad. If we don’t get more young people interested in our sport we will soon not be hunting at all. It’s hard for kids to take game with bows and arrows and black powder muzzle loaders.
I disagree you comment about black powder…with new inline ignition and pyrodex pellets and saboted rounds you get ballistics comparable to a 30-30 at minimum….wounding deer?…I don’t think so…even a kentucky rifle with a .50 patched round ball has probably killed more deer than any other rifle…being around since the late 1700’s
I disagree. The challenge of the hunt is what its about. Why do people think you have to bag a 10 point every time you walk in the woods. Modern gun is already too long a season and then there is a modern gun youth hunt. The kids will be fine.
You can still use your muzzle loader get one from mc Worcester 600 yard muzzleloader lol I think its great no more pull trigger 1 minute later did I hit lol
I used to live in Louisiana and they did that years ago nothing smaller than a 30cal. during black power season but it had to be a single shot. But here in AR from what I have read it doesn't matter hand gun or rifle as long as 30cal. or larger. So like the guy below said they pretty much have done away with muzzle loader season.
I get where you're coming from and if it wasn't for nationwide deer overpopulation (including places in Arkansas) and how that plays into the spread of CWD, I'd be pissed too (were I an Arkansas resident & muzzleload hunter). But given the need to get the population under control and prevent the spread of CDW, I don't see this as egregious. And when/if they can do that, it's possible if not likely that they will change things back. It'll be a year-to-year evaluation of the population.

@tp-mh2ji an idiot who can't read a simple law. Full auto is prohibited in hunting as are 8guage and bigger shotguns by federal la the use of poison or tranquilizers etc. Market hunting in the USA died long ago.now the federal police use them against those they serve..

The amount of approved calibers that sold here in Arkansas is amazing. However, a few folks i have talked to are planning on using their normal deer rifles. Opening day of muzzleloader is going to be crazy.

Deer population has soared. We need to decrease the deer population for the health of the deer and safety of traffic.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the 360 Buckhammer is, for all intents and purposes, a replacement for the very capable 35 Remington.

It’s a bunch of bull crap. Second weekend of gun the deer are gone. Now it will be the second weekend of what should be muzzleloading.
