Range is such an important issue for EVs, you really need to quote consistently sourced numbers. Your 277m "urban cycle" for the Fiat 500 compares to only 199m WLTP - the basis of most of the other numbers quoted.
The Honda and Mini tied for second place at 14 points apiece, then why did you not include thr Mini in the driving challenge too? I agree that this challenge should have been conducted in a city or urban setting; this to also determine regen breaking. But a fun video all the same.
The 208 is by far the best overal car: Modernity, Space, Confort, Range, Price Tag. The honda looks cool, but it should never be near the top because is terrible in terms of boot, price and range. The sells don't lie, it's been a disaster because it's just not good. I've read somewere Honda was making a lot of PR work among journalists about it, hope it's not the case with Fifth Gear.
Just figured out why the mini had to go because it and the Honda were on the same points. They just wanted to thresh the rear wheel drive Honda around. But I have a feeling the mini would have been faster then both especially the P electric
The Renault set the standard but everyone shot above them ... Even the fiat ... Bouncy city car, designed so potholes and cobbles aren't an issue with a huge range when compared to all the others
It feels as though you needed an excuse to make the Honda look like an actual competitor when it isn’t. Charging on the hood? Such a small battery and range? Feels like an ad for Honda. It sells poorly doesn’t it?! Obviously For a reason.
The range is only 12 miles but we can excuse that as it's a city car. And we will also make it the winner because we can drive it faster flat out than the 308. Great urban test....
Interesting, the Honda e is certainly impressive, although, what is most important in a modern EV is firstly range, secondly range and thirdly range. Picking a car that the also offers a lot of space can‘t hurt either, plus it should also be easy to operate as well for all the basics, e.g. the AC. If I had to dig deeply into confusing and lagging touchscreen menu structures to control and set climate control, it is a no go for me. Among all tested cars, the Renault covers all these basics well. The Fiat also, spacewise not so, but everyone has different needs, in my opinion, the Renault, among those cars, is offering the best overall package and besides of the missing ACC, feature wise it ticks everything I would wish to have in an EV. Spaceship style cockpits are certainly fun to have and look at but what is really important here is having great range in summer and winter time.

Aimed at a UK audience where the Zoe isn't that popular now and losing out to more desirable modern EVs. The MINI Electric sold ~6000 in 2021 which was more than the Zoe. The Fiat 500e for me is the best city car, the Honda looks ace but the pricing is ridiculous. Shame it's a rag it on a country road test and not a drive it in the city test..
Once again Rory Reid does the old "good for the shops" quip. My 24kwh Nissan Leaf doesn't have as much range as any of the five featured cars and I drove it on an 890 miles round trip to Scotland in two days. Most people don't drive more than 35 miles in any given day. Also "City Cars" implies good for pootling around the city. But, you'll be lucky if you do a total of 80 miles while driving around a city all day. So, these cars are clearly more than just city cars. People really have to get over this range nonsense. For 90% of drivers it's never an issue. For the rest it may be an issue once a year. And if you're going to go mental about range then let's remember the Zoe had easily the most range, but you chucked it out of the running after the first round. Consistency?
You did such a good job with this "deathmatch" this would help a lot of future EV drivers to pick between their ideal city electric car! Thank you for sharing! 🔌⚡🚘

Absolutely SHOCKING. You need to scrap this video entirely and redo it properly. These are city cars. Take them into a city where ALL of them will definitely perform well. Don't judge the styling based purely on the doors with your hands in the way of the "nose and tail" and don't LIE about the range!!
Exactly. This is the most irrelevant test I ever seen. Shocking that well known people giving their names and faces to crap like this.
Lol! You sound like it’s personal ! Relax, it’s only a fun group test. One’s proper is obviously another’s clown act. I wonder if the car you own dropped out early hence touched a nerve 🤣
@@kitlai768 I felt like a rant because this video is a prime example of what's slowing down EV uptake! My car wasn't in this video, I've a long range model 3.
So Honda wins because it was faster against the Peugeot. Just gave it to the worst by some margin
The Honda's range is unacceptable. On a cold day, it would not go to the post office and home without a stop to charge. Twice that range would be marginally acceptable.
What dessert do you live in?
@@ZesPak in a lovely trifle
@@Oldjohn52 and that trifle is more than 60km from a post office?
You've (very) obviously never owned an EV, that's for sure..... It might make 15% difference, that's all. Stop being silly, because it makes you look silly.
Honda is by far the coolest, but the range is a shame. Definitely would consider it though, and a longer range would just make the decision easier.
Rear leg room is also desperate, they've sold horribly here in Ireland as they're just too expensive for what you're getting, so most usually go for the fiat and Renault, but also the id3 and cupra born
@@Theferrariguy The Renault Megane E-Tech absolutely destroys all of these for not much more money new. This review is handy for people looking at these models coming on to the second hand market, quicker and for a bit less money than new.
@@IanMcc1000 that's it yeah I'm excited to see how the megane e tech does
I live in London and own a Mini Cooper Electric
and see a lot of other Mini Cooper Electrics in London,
I don't see as many Fiat 500Es (it's range is pretty decent and it looks good too)
and vary rarely see a Honda E, (I like its Space Age style)
as for E208s, they are that bland, I don't even notice them.
GOOD tests for a City EV, would include, "we randomly parked it in a full supermarket car park,
to see how long it takes to find it, due to its unique looks", then, "we tried to cheekily emerge from a side road,
into slow moving City traffic to see how many cars would go past, without letting us out", LOL,
and the classic, "we drove it at 20 mph, down one of those streets, with 3 speed bumps across its width,
to see how easy it was to avoid the speed bumps", then there's Tetris Test, "we got 3 passengers,
one small, one medium and one large, to see how long it takes to work out, WHO sits WHERE".
Wasted opportunity with these daft tests, especially the last one. Track testing 🤷♂what's up with that? City cars need a city based set of tests. Disappointing episode, guys.
I have the Peugoet - but must say the Honda does look great :)
The Peugeot has been improved. It can now do “228 miles”.
I’ve now owned 2 the old one didn’t seem to charge as faster.
My old one wouldn’t do anyone near 217 miles so I doubt the new one will 228 miles.
I wish you had have got the newest version.

Going quickly and around a track for a city car?
I thought this was going to be more realistic
I'm really disapointed
The Zoe sold (and continues to do) really well because I suspect the general public has more common sense than be bothered by these bizarre comparisons.
Fair play to the Peugeot. It's not bad.
Renault's very competitive PCP schemes will have played their part too.....
But a fun video all the same.
fast charging on these cars needs a CCS connector, only the zoe could take 22kw charging on the type 2 connector shown..
They're all good cars. It depends on what your needs are and very few people put driving dynamics over practicality.
Such a bizarre set of testing criteria. The vast majority of people would dismiss the Honda immediately due to range vs price.
Yeah, I'd like to know how much battery percentage was left after that! All fur coat and no knickers as nan used to say! 😂
Totally disagree the way they eliminate cars. E208 no comparison to the Honda and 500e. etc
That Honda with double its range absolutely but that’s so poor for today.
I am very confused...

Fifth Gear
It's Fifth Gear not top gear, but I think the same thing, sniff sniff bull s~#*.
Might need to be aware..... The content in this video is many months out of date. It's taken from the TV series. So stats will not add up potentially
The battery of the e 208 is 46 kwh usable, not 56. And the final test is just to make the Honda win, right? Cause it’s pointless! 👎

Great test! For me the Zoe lost all credibility when it scored 0 in the NCAP crash test. I love the Honda, but also like the Mazda MX30 - another driver's car with small range.
In 2013, the Zoe scored the maximum of 5 stars on the EuroNCAP test
In 2021, 0

I knew the Honda would win on the track.
Zoe and Peugeot - Commute cars
The rest - City cars
Nice to see but for me range is the standard to go for so the Zoe or Peugeot for me. Honda, mini and 500 - just to limited in spite of the gadgets. And the lowest range won - really! Was this sponsored by Honda?
I’m Italian and I hate the fiat 500e, too much expensive, no space inside, old interior and same 500 style that is old today. Also fiat must make cheap cars for people. It have to be like Dacia spring but is so much expensive
City car car , low range does not mean city car , smaller is city car , normal city ice can go hundreds of miles . Honda poor range for the price
The test is wrong regarding the needed parameters welcomed in cars with such purposes, and it feels biased from the beggining. I lost the intetest in watching it until the end because of that.
The US market Mini only gets 110 miles range. I'm confused.
thats because Americans are a lot fatter than us Brits, LOL.
I don't think so. Battery to small. It's the 208 the Zoe

Rubbish choice, Zoe 50 Best Choice as it will take my Take apart electric mobility scooter, with good range so don't have to charge it so often

Pug is winner but Corsa e is same car just cheaper! No one is buying the Honda.
Poor test , just as not everyone works in an office, people don't drive on test tracks everyday. If you are testing a city car test it in the city . No way should the least practical car of the two finalists have won with it's pathetic range and load capacity. City car or not I don't want to be charging it up every five minutes.
Why do you not test the crash test safety.
Car journalists don't crash test cars. Manufacturers do
This felt like a sponsored review. Staged winner.
I'm sorry but there is an error with the Peugeot 208, the real battery is not 56, 50kwh (45 utilizables).
In this test there are many errors, I understand that you like the Peugeot for its aesthetics, but giving false data is not good. For the price they all have, the best is clearly the Zoe, it has also been on the market for years and is proven to work. The Honda's battery is ridiculous and the interior doesn't matter, for that price it should have a minimum of 50Kwh
Yes, the range of the 208 would not be good if the battery were 56 kwh, but it’s 46, so it’s fine! The Zoe has 52 kwh, so logically it has better range! The winner is the e-208 👍
@@atreyuidaho Winner why?
Regarding battery, consumption and autonomy, the Zoe is better, another thing is that you like the design of the Peugeot more.
@@atreyuidaho In Carwow with the Peugeot, battery of 50 (real 45) a range of 161 miles
With the Zoe with the 52 battery (real 50) in the same test they achieved a range of 229 miles. The winner is the Renault Zoe
@@adrianromero92 i like everything more with the 208, the ride, the comfort, the fast charging capacity. What’s the point of a better range if charging is a hassle?
@@atreyuidaho According to official data, the Peugeot can charge at 100Kw(DC) and the Zoe at 50kw(DC)
The Peugeot needs a little more than half an hour to reach 80% and the Renault 1 hour and 5 minutes. Also I doubt that the 100kw are constant.
On a 22kw(AC) charger the Peugeot needs 4 hours 3 minutes and the Renault 3 hours 15 minutes.
Counting that the Zoe has at least 30km more autonomy, I don't see it so bad either.
