- I got a whisper from The Spirit to go and honor the legendary 78-year old Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi who has been in the music industry for over 60 years and whose music made part of my growing up.
I called Laitan Dada and Emmaohmygad and they were happy to go. We went as simple as can be.
We were very excited as little children, of course! It shows in this video😁😁

OMG, daddy Shina, what a wonderful musician. I remember when he used to play for my father Baba LF60 at Idi Oro and Boundary hotel Idi Oro. Ebenezer Obey a talented musician, humble man to the core. Baba Shina will never drive past my father when his coming from Abeokuta without not coming down from his car and prostrate to Baba LF60 when we moved to Oshodi. And I remember when you played for Abeokuta club on celebrating there 40years anniversary soo much enjoyment when I came to Nigeria. baba Shina, baba Bukky, baba Tolu, baba oreOluwa, may Allah Subuanatalah continue to be with you and your household, give you good health, and more years on this very land of living. Growing up with my parents in Ghana every Sunday morning from 6am to 3 pm in the afternoon till mum go out for any program we are forced to listen to Yoruba music we didn't understand much lyrics despite our own Yoruba way of speaking Yoruba and also growing up was the influence of hip-hop, what we call in Ghana hip-life hence we were not enthuse by Yoruba music . But during our secondary and after secondary School we start understanding life we(my siblings and I) don't have any companion than music from Dr. Ebenezer Obey, Sunny Ade and Barrister, whiles mum is a big fan of Ebenezer Obey but I am a big fan of Sunny Ade. God bless you sir your words have been motivation and assurance during my hard times of my life and my happy moment Aimansiko have been the best song for me tolearn how to endure patient. Indeed if we understand God's time we will wait upon God.

This video popped up and magically ferried me on a floating Arabian mat, right from the apogee of mountain 54 and down memory Lane to the heart of Abadina in University of lbadan in the 70s when l was six years old and in my teens playing football bare footed on stretch of untarred roads ,those good old days ,when turn tables swirls plate records from neighbours and mobile salesmen blaring and blasting these evergreen songs booming from open doors and windows and from lbspeakers mounted on vans roof tops parked in street corners fuelling our infantile frames. Then Nigeria was on a journey and we were the future leaders taught morals from these evergreen songs with hope in us like one in a fortress .Nigeria was growing and with the beautiful hot tropical sun Nigeria was beautiful . But 48 years after ,the relics ,the effigy ,the cadavers of looters abound like Abiku recircled hunts and taunt our octopus enclave .Today Nigeria is like a raped homeless dirty urchin let loose to bleed to die robed in rigor mortis.But these evergreen music remains evergreen in our hearts .The singers have sang their songs, it is left for us to dance our dance. I wish i can give 10stars.....i find it so interesting that Baba's songs still evoke so much euphoria and I feel nolstagic whenever this is played....yes, my husband plays Baba Obey's music almost every day; mind you we are both in our early 30's. When I was so young, i so much hate to listen to it guess I was too childish then. I keep wondering what my father see so much in baba song.
One night my father played his song tittled epo ila . We all stood up in anger to sleep, my father called us back , explain details of d songs to us. Before u could say jack Robinson that night we fell in love with baba obey song. The next morning he played all d track for us. Since then we love listening to obey song till now. I miss my late dad cos he plays alot of obey song in his car at home.

I derive pleasure in Daddy Obey's evergreen songs. I'm in my 30's but I grew up listening to his songs with that of King sunny ade, I.k dairo, etc.. Those songs inspires soul. Unlike the set of songs we are listening to nowadays. Shows the world already moved from the part of righteousness..

I learnt almost all Daddy Ebenezer Obey's songs while travelling with my Dad in those days and during all their small house parties. Irrespective of the level of education I have today,these songs cannot be erased in my memory.
