The guy looked good as a freshman, has the prototypical size, and the heart to lay it on the line getting injured in the 2023 FSU game trying to get a first down! Also I’d like to see Miami develop some of their own recruits, not just grabbing talent from the portal!
Mensah was the only one I would have wanted but he went to Duke. Emory is better than everyone else you mentioned. He has been with the team for 2 full years with Dawson and is a legit baller and leader.
If Emory or someone else on the roster dont start next year it will be hard to get a QB to come to Miami if they know all you looking for is other team established QB.

Defense doesn't win Championships. It sounds good but doesn't fit in today's game. While having a really sorry defense isn't ideal, you can easily look up who is in the cfp and their defensive rankings. Miami just had their best record in 24 years with its worse defense in 24 years and best offense in 24 years. It's just a cliché from the 80s. Championship game scores: Big Ten = 45 - 37, ACC = 34 - 31, SEC = 22 - 19, Big 12 = 45 - 19. The winner's averaged over 36 points to win their championship. Unless facts don't matter, there is you some facts that prove otherwise.
Coop, this is Emory's time. He has waited and proved he is ready. We can't continue to bring in portal QBs. This set's a bad precedence in the QB room. That said, we need more QBs. I would be ok if you bring a QB in to compete but don't promise a starting role.
In all honesty he hasn't proven anything just yet. When he did start last season they ran a very vanilla playbook that didn't require much of him. He'll need to absorb the complete playbook, and be able to execute it. He hasn't done that yet. He'll get a chance to prove himself, but without a legitimate threat to his starter spot (Anderson will compete with Luke for backup) Emory won't get pushed like he needs to be. Like all starters need to be as iron sharpens iron.
Miami needs to go into the Spring with the QBs on their roster and allow those guys to compete for the job. It will be much better for us to hit the portal for Positions of need that will make us a well rounded team not just an offensive juggernaut that can’t stop a nose bleed

You have to look at the entire room. Not just talent, but experience as well. I am looking forward to Emory getting his shot, but if he went down for the season, who is capable of leading the team ? He seemed fairly solid and competent filling in last year and had FSU on the ropes, before his injury. It wasn't the prettiest game, but he grinded out a good performance against one of the top teams in the nation last year. If the offense continues to trend well, then he'll be fine, even though he doesn't quite have the playmaker ability that Ward has. Hopefully Williams will make up for that with a good TD/turnover ratio, though.

Emory Williams is an extremely accurate, smart, and tenacious leader and competitor. I think the lack of game experience behind Emory in the depth chart might warrant getting a QB with game experience but not one who would only come to Miami with the assurance of a starting nod, and understands that open competition in Spring and Fall camps would determine who gets the nod. Is Beck at GA a great qb? Is Ewers at TX a great qb? Is Gabriel at OR a great qb? No! They all are average but have a good o-line and back field. Hi Coop! Good show! I think we should go get us a portal QB, but not a guaranteed starter type. If we get that, I think Emory Williams hits the portal. It needs to be someone that can help provide depth, but not a guarantee that he'll start. He has to know he'll be coming in to compete for the job, not handed the job. We can't risk tossing a hand grenade into the QB room and losing most of what we have. That is also why we don't need to bring in a high profile, multiple year QB. We can't afford to lose the future of the U, by losing Emory, Judd and even Luke. Just my thoughts.

Before I watch the video, let me say this. CFB is not the same as it was when many of you watched it growing up. Yes players still want to win, but with NIL, they want to secure their future immediately. Coming out of high school, thinking you’re guaranteed to go pro, when you haven’t played a single game in college, just isn’t reasonable thinking. The #1 priority is NIL. The #2 priority is being developed into the player they need to be in order to get drafted, so that they can further solidly their financial future for themselves and their family. The program should not be focused on simply winning now. We have the NIL money to give them. We need to prove that we can develop our players to get drafted on draft day. Winning is #3 on the priority list. If this wasn’t the case, then Florida and other teams with poor seasons wouldn’t have got the commits they did. The answer to this question is whether or not we can develop Emory into a good pick on draft day. If this is a yes, then that is exactly what we do. Even if he goes 8-4 his first season, in the end, we need to get him developed and drafted so that way, we have a strong pitch to the QB recruit that follows him. Miami did not prove anything with Ward except that we can have a great offense if we have the right QB. The teams before us were the ones who truly developed him. Sure, we may have had a part in his development, big or small, but he was not our recruit. If we cannot develop Emory to succeed on draft day, then we need to hit the portal in order to provide some insurance on our program.
My two questions are first of all why didn’t we take Mendoza? He’s from Miami second of all quarterback from Washington State looks really good but the true freshman and Emery I think there’s a little bit of potential there. Don’t really know too much about Judd Anderson, though.

College football is no longer setup to where you can wait and build a team. They need to do well in recruiting on the defensive side and I like the Cali QB as an option. He’s a Miami native and will be more driven to showcase his talents for his home town

Judd has no snaps, and Luke is a true freshman. The Canes need someone with meaningful snaps under his belt, and can push Emory. Cam at least has Emory behind him, but behind Emory would be a big drop off. So yes, sign a portal QB.

If there were another option this year on the same level as Cam I would understand, but if we’re talking about someone like Mendoza, I’ll pass. I’d rather we just take every red cent in NIL money and spend it on the defense.

Before I watch the video, let me say this. CFB is not the same as it was when many of you watched it growing up. Yes players still want to win, but with NIL, they want to secure their future immediately. Coming out of high school, thinking you’re guaranteed to go pro, when you haven’t played a single game in college, just isn’t reasonable thinking. The #1 priority is NIL. The #2 priority is being developed into the player they need to be in order to get drafted, so that they can further solidly their financial future for themselves and their family. The program should not be focused on simply winning now. We have the NIL money to give them. We need to prove that we can develop our players to get drafted on draft day. Winning is #3 on the priority list. If this wasn’t the case, then Florida and other teams with poor seasons wouldn’t have got the commits they did. The answer to this question is whether or not we can develop Emory into a good pick on draft day. If this is a yes, then that is exactly what we do. Even if he goes 8-4 his first season, in the end, we need to get him developed and drafted so that way, we have a strong pitch to the QB recruit that follows him. Miami did not prove anything with Ward except that we can have a great offense if we have the right QB. The teams before us were the ones who truly developed him. Sure, we may have had a part in his development, big or small, but he was not our recruit. If we cannot develop Emory to succeed on draft day, then we need to hit the portal in order to provide some insurance on our program.
My two questions are first of all why didn’t we take Mendoza? He’s from Miami second of all quarterback from Washington State looks really good but the true freshman and Emery I think there’s a little bit of potential there. Don’t really know too much about Judd Anderson, though.

College football is no longer setup to where you can wait and build a team. They need to do well in recruiting on the defensive side and I like the Cali QB as an option. He’s a Miami native and will be more driven to showcase his talents for his home town

Hmmm… I say Mario is going to look to the left (Mendoza) to the right (Williams) and say Im going with a proven player ready to go. He’ll bring Mendoza and Williams will go to the portal. Mendoza is turn key and will be a tremendous positive influence on Nickel for the future.

Competition makes everyone get better, and right now Emory has no legitimate threat to start right now to push him. Judd has no snaps, and Luke is a true freshman. The Canes need someone with meaningful snaps under his belt, and can push Emory. Cam at least has Emory behind him, but behind Emory would be a big drop off.
So yes, sign a portal QB.
Build that defense up and build the run game and we'll ride with Emory.
I think we should give the offense to Emory, but also go get Mendoza if possible.
