Some people might forget that Black Doom is able to project illusions and recreate visions of the past. He does so, for example, in the cutscene before the stage "The Doom" in Shadow's game to remind Shadow of the evil, violent acts that G.U.N had committed during the raid in an attempt to manipulate Shadow and fuel his hatred for humans. These nightmares are more than likely Black Doom's doing, with him taking advantage of Time Eater's effect on time and space to lure Shadow to him.
This, and not to mention Shadow was even curious at the very end if "he" was still alive somehow, which I pressume to be Black Doom he was referring to, given that Shadow has had this happened in the past (in his game)
@@BonitoJoe111 at least where Shadow is regarded I think most complaints come from how little Shadow does and how needlessly antagonistic he could come off. But that was more Sega’s restrictions on Shadow than anything else.
Guys, Doom has ilusion powers and made Shadow relive flashbacks multiple times before... and Gerald had to alter Shadow's mind for him to execute his revenge plan when GUN recovered his capsule, before the freezing, so yeah, he must've seen his cell
The ending is definitely interesting, but i feel like it is definitely the easiest explanation of just, someone or something is bringing these memories back to the surface in ways he isn't anticipating so he wants to see who's messing with him. But god i'm so pumped for this series

Black doom & time eater are going to make shadow *choose* to restore the timeline where Maria’s death plays out as we know it. It’s gonna be so traumatic and I can’t fucking wait.

The "Could he have survived" Line it is obviously Black Doom, i don't think emerl makes any sense, also emerl is a machine shadow Could have Said : "Could It..." And Black Doom is messing with his memories, which would explain Shadow's question if he is alive somehow.
The animation was incredible, it gave me so much dragon ball super hero vibes and proves that 3D animation can work if you let the animator do there thing and cook!
So I'm guessing the Black Arms wiped out that armada when they invaded because if GUN had that lying around, Sonic Unleashed would've never happened...
I'd say that makes sense. First thing they'd want to do is wipe out the space armada to leave the invasion nearly unanswered,and that'd take at least a couple decades to rebuild I'd imagine
Gotta be honest, It doesn't look like it was 2d animated. Most of it anyway. There's hints of 2d animation within the effects, some facial expressions and the background. But if I didn't knew better then I say that either they use a 3d software and made it look like 2d or some of the animation are rotoscoped from 3d animations. I'm not saying it looks bad or that it makes it worse. But after looking at the animation for a while. It makes me think there was some helped from 3d animation. Just an observation that I made from looking at the Spectacular animation!

This does take place during Generations, so the Eggmen changing the timelines may have already begun, and is affecting Shadow.
I'm calling Infinite if this is a post Frontiers Shadow that gets caught up in this.
