In New Zealand the .222 was offered to professional deer cullers and meat hunters, again promoted as the ideal medium game cartridge. Many hundreds of Red deer were taken in NZ with the .222 and Norma ammunition. This practice was in vogue when game numbers were at an epidemic.

Thanks for that Peter! Turns out you don't need a 300 Win Mag to take a tasty meal :D But if you want to run a 300 WM, go nuts! :D

    Nice discussion’s!
The lock rings the Lee ones I have a set haven’t tried them yet! However, Frankford Arsenal I see has similar type called Dielocker Rings set. Three rings, torx screwdriver/allen wench style for set screw and a head wench for fitting the slots on top to tighten. The set screw squeezes the dielocker band and not damaging the threads. Anyway interesting!
The new chronographs the power is by a small rechargeable battery which only provides so much power to produce the radar. Thus it needs to extrapolate distance after it calculates what it can read say 100 yards vs 200yds or that what I believe of the science. Just a thought.
Waiting on the videos comparing Garmin, Labradar, True Ballistic and Caldwell Velociradar

@@Majeskty we are as yet unable to get the Caldwell to register a single shot with full bars of signal. One more test this week before final review.

@ Humm, there was another video showing shots getting picked up, he even used the recoil trigger on his rifle.
Will be interesting to see if yours works or just a faulty unit you received.
Good luck, hope all works out on testing and reviews.
The Garmin I found the display too dim, the high should have been their low point in my observation. Indoors I had other shooters being picked up and liked the recoil trigger option on Velociradar. Never tried the new Labradar FX.
Thanks for the update and input.

Very disappointing to hear about the Caldwell. I was about to order one as soon as they are available in stores, was hoping in next few days. But now not sure. Might have to look at the FX. Just the price is really high.
I need one for my pcp air rifle, to tune it and check performance of different pellets or slugs

As we say, more testing is required on the product before we pass full judgements. Hopefully we just had a bad crack at it in a sub par environment. Time will tell

As below James just hold on a few days and we'll give it a run under better conditions and see if we get some better results.

Stick with the Garmin, we all use it at our range. The FX is 'too little too late'. Twice as bulky and heavy by the looks. And the Calldwell looks like cheap junk. The screen looks huge, yet the active part of the screen is a tiny.
Sure, you can shoot over the top of a Garmin for downrange velocities, but if you hit the device don't blame Garmin. Why not protect it with a slightly angled Biseloy steel target, lying flat in front of it.
For downrange velocities our ShotMarker targets record this. Pretty sure Silver Mountain targets do this also. The downrange data quality is good for calculating BC's with velocity string SD's the same as what we record at the muzzle.

Lanotec lanolin oil mixed with metho or 100% isopropyl alcohol in a pump bottle (bug spray or similar) is the go for extremely cheap and great case lube. I have a 1ltr bottle of it and it will last me a lifetime. Give it a spray and let the alcohol disperse the oil and give it a tumble in a dish and evaporate and your ready to go.

Can you post a link to the lanolin oil you are using? Thanks :)
