The Black Sea (Crimea, Turkey, Caucasus) orthodox people are divided into 2 groups: 1) Turkic speaking Urums, 2) Romeika (Greek) speaking Romeys. There are still Turkic speaking Urums in Greece and Russia.

      Seni seviyoruz.

The " one nation, one race, one flag" doctrine is one of the worst things that ever happened to humanity, so sad to see what a bunch of stupıd and cruel racists can do to so many people, destroy the whole demography of a place and cause such terrible suffering. I've seen the Turkish film "Yüreğine Sor", how Greek people at that region had to hide their identity to escape persecution. On my visit to Eastern Black Sea region however ı've seen how a lot of that culture is still alive and many young people are getting informed about their true roots and embracing them more and more. Hopefully one day we will truly learn from the past, recognize the terrible mistakes and we will respect and enjoy one another's culture and see how much we share, how much we got from one another and we, all the peoples of Anatolia have in fact one soul, love and greetings from Istanbul ❤

My soul cries everytime I see how much the greeks have lost. So many innocent greeks, so many beautiful cities & villages throughout anatolia, filled wit culture, education & architecture have been burned to the ground. Greek people & greek culture have lived from north to south Balkans, to south Italy & Sicily all the way to the far east Anatolia & the north Levant. Now the Hellenic spirit survives from the same small rock, from where it all began. I can only pray & hope that in the future the beautiful Hellenic culture & spirit will survive. But with all the globalization, global politics. It will be a tough battle, not only for Greece, for a lot of other countries and cultures aswell.

I used to live in Turkey, and I really don't understand what the Turkish government hopes to accomplish in denying the genocide. It wasn't even the modern republican government in power at the time so it's not like it'd reflect badly on them. I mean hell, the German government has recognised and apologised for the Holocaust, and made Holocaust denial a crime. Likewise the UK and America have apologised for the various genocides they've committed even though they themselves were the government in power at the time. But the Turkish government? Heaven forfend

@@gozcsulke1224 of course Turks were also killed, my first question is, why lived Turks in Greece, Balkan, Asia Minor? Either they were Greeks, Armenians etc. who converted to Islam or they were occupiers.
The second thing ist that genocid does not mean, that people were killed. Every day people die, in every war are victims to claim.
Genozid means the planned extermination of people only on the basis of origin, religion etc

When you show pontoon dances, you should know that the area from Trabzon to Georgia - Lazet - belonged to Georgia in ancient times and the Laz - Georgians live there, and they still live there. Greek historians even wrote about it in the first century. When the Turks conquered this territory, they named it Lazistan. Thus, the Pontic culture was not only created by the Greeks, it was also created by the Lazes from ancient times.

Because all the ones in Greek compare the sounds of peculiar pontian letter sounds to German and French and I have no idea about the sounds of those barbaric languages. English in the language of today so why not compare the peculiar sounds of pontian letters by using the relevant sound using English letters? Also it's too hard for me to understand in Greek the terminology of linguistic rules as I'm not fluent in Greek and I already have trouble understanding the terminology of language rules in English

The origin of the Pontic Greeks is the Black Sea region, which was occupied by the ottomans in the 15th century. Unfortunately the Pontians could not free their home. Beginn of the 20th Century they had to live their homelands. Turkey wanted to construct a new state with homogenous population. Therefore all Christian people were killed or deported of their homes. Most of them died. The rest was officially “exchanged” with the Moslems, who used to live in Greece. A very sad story. 😢 Turkey denied until now to recognise the genocide of Greeks. The same does Turkey with Armenians and Assyrians, who had similar fate.

Hard to believe the Turks did so much damage to Asia Minor and the Balkans. I know a lot of people from Turkey and they are all great people and good friends. Hard to believe some of their ancestors did this to the eastern Mediterranean countries including some of the Arab nations. Shocking. I love Turkey though. Read somewhere the real world history starts around 1792., whatever that means. I know history is so fake and full with propaganda, but ....
Great work anyway. Keep it up and try to stay unbiased. Cheers

It was a state thing, not exclusively average-simple people like you and me. The extermination of Christians was planned by the Young Turk government. You know, during that period many Turkish villagers helped (or tried to) many Greeks and Armenians. Those who still live there, are result of this humanitarian-neighbor aid. However, a state is more powerful, especially when it loves ultra-nationalism and hate speech. I'm glad there are Turkish people who accept this historical event and don't feel uncomfortable, since they didn't do anything anyway, they don't support the government that did all this and created a nation-state sending away all the non-Turks. Many even miss their neighbors. Thanks a lot :))

@@simplynuts5327 Turkey is more secular than the Arab World. Women in Turkey barely wear hijab, but you can't find one in Saudi Arabia without. @@VasilisDance I like your videos very much and believe me I am a person who avoids politics, but when it comes to history, do not turn a blind eye. Like so many greeks before, you write what happened to the armenians and greeks. Have you ever wondered what happened to the Turks, Kurds and us Jews? In Trabzon and in the east of the country there was not a single Jewish community after the armenian attacks. With the French army, a large garrison of Armenians came into the country to fight the Turks. Armenian soldiers stormed into the country from the Caucasus and allied themselves with the Armenian freelancers in the country to fight against non-Christians. Renowned british and french historians state that during the war over 1 million armed armenian men fought alongside the french and with the greek soldiers. Do you think that your greek soldiers and the thousands of greeks in the land fought with flovers against us not christians? The number of non-christian victims killed and massacred is 5 million. Please don't be so generous when it comes to your victims! We all suffered. The cross does not set you free from your deeds and sins. By the way i'm not a nationalist but a historian. As a gay man who grew up in Germany, I am very open-minded and cosmopolitan, but when it comes to one-sided representations and probaganda against Turkey, I don't turn a blind eye.

    • @VasilisDance
      @VasilisDance  2 роки тому +13

@@gbastile I know all about Turkish or Kurdish casualties, but do you know what was their plan, what they wished to do and why they got killed? I did not say anywhere that "hey, only Christians suffered". It was a war, that is not possible. But the Greek, Armenian and Assyrian (the three Christian populations of Turkey) genocides are an international fact, not just a side of a story or something to just bash Turkey. There is nowhere in books "Turkish genocide", but for Jews of course there is, the tragic Holocaust, but it is about another time period. Propaganda and narrating an event are different things. You also need to see the results. Cities like Trabzon, Izmir or even Istanbul who gave birth to the modern Greek culture or cities like Van, Kars etc. who are the birthplace of the Armenian civilization have about 0.5% Greek-Armenian people from being 50-50 or even majority with the Turkish settlers of that period. That says something, don't you think? Economic interests, pro-western campaigns and trade with Central Asia had one obstacle, the Armenian population. A war happened for global interests. Of course there are casualties in both sides, no one is a sitting duck. Guerillas were created, paramilitary groups etc. Unfair murders, revenge attacks especially. For Armenians, though, (and later for Greeks) it was a matter of survival, because the Young Turk government was literally trying to exterminate them. All. They're called genocides. Someone whose tribe has experienced this should know it, but it seems you choose not to feel it. Especially regarding Armenians. I'm not one-sided, but history speaks about a genocide and I don't turn a blind eye about it or try to balance it (!) with casualties of the same period, no matter if some people will feel uncomfortable or bad about it. A government tried to exterminate a whole tribe and you tell me "yes, but what about the casualties that this tribe did?" Of course it did, it's called a war of survival. History is cold hearted, doesn't take sides, you should know it.
