Fuuka’s new voice actually suits her timidness, Mitsuru sounds almost identical, Makoto isn’t as bad as I thought. Junpei sounds pretty good and all I can hear is Hunter from the Owl House (which is a good thing), Yukari sounds similar enough to her original voice. And then there’s Akihiko who sounds like a 40-year old trapped in a 17 year olds body

The only one I'm disappointed by is yukari. The new VA is good. But I think the original's performance was just very unique and seems hard to replicate. (Nostalgia also has a hand in this comment)

I still prefer Sasuke/ teen Ben 10 voicing protagonist. Original has better protag, Akihiko, Junpei, and Yukari. Fuuka and Mitsuru are equally good as old VA but new Mitsuru has proper French so I guess that's a plus

Liam O'Brien is really the only old VA I'm gonna miss. The others were great but the new VA's I think have potential, but Liam has a unique voice that will take some time to adapt to his change.
We haven’t heard aigis or Elizabeth yet.
Honestly, some of them sound pretty similar most different being Akihiko and Fuuka but I don't hate it. Glad Mitsuru still sounds almost the same might just be me though 😂

I am just waiting for Aigis voice actress. Her old VA's imo was gold at the end it's gonna be hard to top imo. Also I prefer Japanese VA for the Protagonist. Hopefully there's a mod to change it.

Yeah. This makes the second role from a Japanese series that he’s got replaced from recently, namely Bleach and now Persona. He’s one of my fav VAs and honestly so underrated nowadays cuz he’s a fantastic performer and personally I think replacing him in anything should be crime lul
@@CharenZardI think it’s because he’s been doing more union work nowadays, and most dubbing studios don’t feel the need to pay extra for them.
@@paperluigi6132 That was definitely the case for Bleach, though I believe Persona games nowadays are done under the union, Persona 5 definitely seems like it. So in this case it was less a problem with the union than it was an intentional choice.
@@CharenZard Yeah, I mean when you look at the cast of P5R it's clearly Union getting Erin Fitzgerald, Ty Lee's OG VA from Avatar, and Rigby from Regular show as part of the cast indicates it's a Union dub. Including the anime they literally got all of the OG cast from the game. So yeah since 5, Persona games are union. Tara Platt even confirmed online she loves working with Atlus and Liam and Troy Baker reprised their roles for the Catherine Full Body remake so Atlus has no problem with the union. So this was most likely done on purpose with the new voice cast.
The sad part is he now voices the policeman that sells you weapons in p3r

If Alejandro went a liiiiiitle higher, this would be perfect. Fuuka is a straight up upgrade, everyone else is either extremely similar or a liiiitle better. Alejandro is just a lil too deep
Suzie’s Fuuka sounds very close to the Japanese VA, but I still wish Wendee Lee got to do Fuuka’s original lines.

Mitsuru, Junpei and Yukari's voices are all spot on. I'm a fan of Fuuka and Akihiko's too if only for how their voice actors have taken a different direction with them. The protag sounds great too but ofc the protag's voice has always been less apparent so I don't have many thoughts going into it.

Everyone else sounds awesome but Alejandro Sabb Akihiko hasn’t convinced me yet. He made his voice too dam deep when Liam version had some rasp in his voice. I mean who knows, it’ll probably sound better in the game🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

Akihiko seems more like a original Chie vs Golden Chie situation. Where the VA that s doing the character is very competent but is doing a different take.

If she was "imitating" someone (which is not the case, mitsuru's new va talked about this) it would be her japanese va instead, as she matches the pitch and the more cute side that yukari has, which was never shown on english dub

All the voice actors were replaced in english because the USA hates voice actors and have a strong age bias as well.

I was planning on buying P3R for the switch but I think I'll have to buy it in PC. I'm hoping the community is going to pull through with some mods to replace Akihiko's new voice with the old one. 😖🙏
Even if modded in there will undoubtedly be new dialogue with no previous dub lines to draw from.

Those lines were PERFECT.
I however didn't enjoy Zeno's performance as Junpei ngl, I grew too close to Vic's voice. It just leaves a bigger impact on me.

I was expecting a comment like this about Akihiko.
I would say, during this expo that he was excited to say that quote in that tone, it's also one of the most iconic lines people use as memes or references, even outside Persona/Atlus related games by just posting his picture whenever people have been waiting for something.
It would sound different in the main game in a calmer tone (i hope).

Yeah, I get that feel as well, he sounds a lot older and has a deeper voice.
Power of voice tech can always modify his voice to sound a bit younger whenever hes in the studio.

1. "I've been waiting for this." wasn't an iconic line that is the most likely to be known by fans of the series who have never touched 3

Yukari's original "Stupei Ace Defective" line always felt a little bit cheesy to me, like she's trying to be funny rather than actually insulting him. The delivery in Heather's version sounds way better.

The others sound good overall. Protagonist and Mitsuru's new voices is perfect. Akihiko's new voice sounds too different to Liam O'Brien who absolutely nailed the role. Maybe a different take or it's the nostalgia of the original.

Nah, it's just standard practice unfortunately within the English dubbing community.
They usually cycle through different va's especially if there was a huge time gap between the performances despite most of the original english va's still being in the industry albeit they're a lot older now.
On the other hand all of the Japanese dub retained their roles.

Actually, that's Allegra Clark, who voices Shamir and Dorothea from Fire Emblem 3 Houses. Coincidentally, Tara Platt, Yuri Lowenthal's wife, and the previous voice of Mitsuru, was also in 3 Houses as Edelgard.

aleks sounds better than yuri as makoto 100%, yuri's voice for old p3 isnt really that good, he picked up and did a incredibly good work with Persona Q on the other hand but he sounds incredibly high pitched on the OG. Makes sense since Makoto really didnt have a character before Q or the movies, and he had to sound different from Yosuke.
I dont really like Yukari and Akihiko's new voices but the rest of the cast is so much better
