Thank you so much for the shout out and for supplying ride footage for the next few weeks of news moto! It was so great to see all of our old haunts in this video - Kampot has a lot to offer, much more than you would expect for such a small place. Looking forward to the next installment!
I'm living in SR and some of my friends love Kampot. It looks boring AF to me to live there. Dusty roads when dry and muddy roads in the rainy season. Nice video though!
Retirement in Cambodia often comes down to Kampot vs Siem Reap. I don't know which one I'd prefer. SR has more infrastructure - I'd like to be able to go to a movie theatre. Kampot has more nature - the river is very appealing. The For Riel people have lived in both and they prefer SR too. I think I'd try a couple months in both before deciding.
Hoping for a really good burger in Siem Reap ! --- Supposedly a lot of good food there ? --- It's my ideal retirement destination for super cheap comfortable living. --- Great look @ Kampot - close enough for me ! Too remote and isolated for my liking. More my style to fly from SR to Bangkok for some really awesome food and looking around a bit ? Maybe a quality cheap medical checkup while there for a few days. --- Enjoyed watching this though just don't need to go. I love pepper & enjoyed that. Overall a nice trip. Keep em coming !!!
Have been waiting for this one. Best town in Cambodia, brilliant food, scenery, eassy to get around. Love it here,PP is great for a two day break, then back to the Pot
true but unfortunately the expats from pp and sihanoukville and the drug addicted social problems are taking a toll on once quiet kampot the police should drug test the westerners if arrested and act accordingly.
Thanks for the shout out, seemed a bit hot out there. Never seen long pepper either, and she did say it was spicy The bloke who owns the coffee shop you went to for breakfast is Angus and he is from our home town, Rockhampton.
Oh! By the way my cousin went to Cambodia 🇰🇭 three months ago from Bradford Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 he will be back to Canada in June of this year i told him to buy kompot peppers 🌶 one of best peppers in world for me. Thanks again take care
Hey, I'm a retired truck driver from Calgary. I've been living in Kampot since July 2022, I absolutely love it here. I won't be going back to Canada, I'm here to stay!
be sure not to miss the fishing boats coming out at night...they have to lower all their masts to fit under the bridge and even with that some of the boast get semi-stuck and need to get pushed by the other boats...theres a little pagoda to watch it from - got amazing photos of this and the crew dancing to music as they head out to fish.
Love kampot. Last time I went there I stayed at a small resort call yellow sun bungalow. I camped there, $6 for a tent. Sun rise and sun set were amazing. I believe it was along the same river you are visiting.
Probably. There are a bunch of places along the river. I felt bad cause I know a lot of them suffered cause of covid. Now they're falling apart but there's no money for improvements.
Thanks for sharing your video what a beautiful kompot province me and my whole family went to kompot in 2016 i really missed kompot so much. Last time you told me you live in landown and college yes is in downtown Toronto i live in milton west of mississauga ok enjoy your time in kompot province take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 nice weather now in Toronto sunny 🌞 plus 14 degrees
Brilliant guys. Thank you. If you're still there, please spend far too much of your own money and visit more accommodation and cafes, restaurants and bars in Kampot. Pleeeeeeeeze.
Hi Charlie from Boston USA here. I will be visiting a friend in the south for one month in April Banteay Meanchey Cambodia. Of course I have been watching many of your videos and I appreciate all the information. I got to be honest you are so Friggn funny man. I gotta tell ya I loved you breathing fire and catching that young Cambodian lady‘s ass on fire while she screamed. Funny stuff. Great way for me to start a day with a good laugh. Sending you both peace and love. Look forward to more videos😊

Is the Rusty Keyhole still going? They used to do incredible ribs... Oh, should have waited😊 Looks like they have a nice new site. Kampot was always my favourite place in Cambodia 10y ago. Looking even better now.
@@mikebaker7522 Thanks for the info, Mike. To be honest, it was pretty small and on the big road so I can understand why they'd move to the river - I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Coming on my motorbike from Thailand to visit old sailor friend who moved here from Phuket a number of years ago, great to get a pre view of the place.
Great vlog bro. My wife’s Khmer. Hopefully be up there in August. What’s the story with the police pulling up the barang on scooters ? Apart from the normal shake down to make their lunch money we’ve heard rumours they are trying to discourage barang from riding / hiring scooter ?
Mate Cambodia is just perfect country. we have everything, if you want seafood we got em, you want exotic food and fruits we got em( suggest you try durian kompot it the freaking best). We got a mix food of Chinese thai Vietnam indian khmer cuisine for you. i recommend you to go to the north east of our country for some good Mountain vibe

Kampot the last hold of the Holocaust causing Khmer rouge. Some dark spirits there. Never saw happy vibes in that city. Poverty .poverty and them young expats acting all hunk dory in a spiritually dark , dark history. Enjoy your black pepper

I took tourists there quite a few times, later on they relocated shop to the pool area. No one welcome and showed us around the plantation. Sad that i have to choose The Plantation for their great service.

Really good burgers are hard to come by in Cambodia. Mediocre burgers are available though. Maybe try Jungle Burger in Siem Reap.
Am i the only one that got legitimately scared when the buffalo moved his head?
Watching this from lockdown in Shanghai reminds me that there are places where "PRE ROLLS" can be written safely on a wall - it's a lovely reminder.

You should check out Sabay Beach. It is really beautiful! Oh. You went to Sabay Beach. lol My bad.

So many great restaurants there. You could do a 2hr video easily! Favourite town in cambo without a doubt.
top video ! thanks
Sabay Beach location is outstanding, probably the best place to stay in Kampot, their food is amazing too
It's great, but a bit far from town if you want to enjoy Kampot's lovely dining scene.
Welcome to Kampot✨💛🙏
Watching this while chilling in our hotel in Siem Reap, we'll be in Kampot in 2 dayyyyys, we stayed at Baitong in PP after your vid, excellent hotel.
In Kampot definitely eat at Twenty Three Bistro and Tertúlia. Both have incredible food at reasonable prices.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap Just ate at Tertúla for lunch today, I think someone needs to get Michelin in on them and get them a star
Grilled eggplant, a little of salt and peppercorn on eggplant. And pair with steak, or pork chops. Yummy in the tummy.
In Sichuan they'd grill it up with tons of garlic and chili oil. SO good!
@@itchyfeetonthecheap yes, very delicious, but too much garlic, raise the blood pressure. Use moderately.

There's also a Rusty Keyhole 2 that was pretty busy every time we walked by, despite it not having any riverside views.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap The old one was on the main river street. But even back then they had a #2, a Sports Bar further back from the river.
The original Rusty Keyhole closed many many years ago...

I'm not sure if that Rusty Keyhole is connected to the original restaurant that Chris setup 15+ years ago.
I don't think so. I think this one is owned by a former business partner, maybe.
Did you go to Bokor, by the way? That's an interesting trip, though I dare say the mountain has been overtaken by Chinese gambling?

Hey man, any cool backpacking spots to recommend while in Phnom Penh?
I wonder, is that pepper similar to Sichuan Pepper in China?
No, totally different. Black pepper is a berry, I think. Sichuan pepper is the husk of a seed. The taste is way different too.

Cambodia should keep their forest for tourism many country can visit when you cut down the forest like Vietnam you country not beautiful anymore
I hope they can, but it comes down to money for a lot of these developing countries.
