I completely agree with you, I owned a 2015 for 2 years and for the last year it was running 12 Psi daily. While I’m not going to tell you it’s not immensely amazing to drive, adding even a small turbo alters the entire character of the car in terms of power delivery which in turn changes the way you throttle in and out of corners as well as no longer having that feeling of driving a slow car fast if that makes sense. This thing really looks awesome, especially in that color and on those wheels, something else for sure! Most modern cars are just not doing it for me, but this is actually really nice, great job! 👌
I know people are mixed and a lot of people hate how the new gr86 and brz look. But i think it looks fantastic, and like it a lot better than the old one
Hopefully this new engine stands the test of time. I've been reading many nightmare stories recently of people with zenki models completely failing on them.
As an FRS owner the affordable fast car to get is the new Z. I'm happy with what I have though - but I only want to have a little fun without getting any speeding tickets. My 120mph days have passed. I just like drifting the occasional 90 corner, the highway ramps and interchanges.
WHAT IM FROM JAX FL TOO!!!! CRAZY, when you said he's from here in Duvalllll i was NOT expecting that. I'm definitely going to follow him now! And yes jax is completely flat land. lol
The power fogures from the manufacturer are underrated, most dynos are showing crank horsepower and torque are quoted conservatively. Bolt ons and a tune (Once available) will satisfy my need for more power without having to boost it.
I might have to look into getting myself one of these once I actually have a job, because in terms of pricing, it's really not bad considering how much you're getting
@@calebrose4607 I don’t understand why people don’t buy used instead of buying a new car for 35k minimum for like 260 hp lol. My 08 g37 manual on coils blow this thing out of the water for 10 grand and would outperform it in almost every aspect
I’m not sure these cars are comparable but both seem to be in my price range. I’ve been looking at the Veloster N or one of these for awhile. I’m a huge VW fanboy but ever since the Mk8s absolutely abysmal downgrade to interior quality, I’m opting out.
Can't go wrong with either. I own a VN and although I haven't driven the new 86, the old one was great. The N is fantastic, although if I was buying new I would opt for the kona N or elantra N as they have all the new fancy bits, including a better turbo and much better interior. I hate the outside of the EN but want a manual, so I'm waiting for a refresh or the kona N to be offered w a stick.
Thank you for the AWESOME videos you make. You have opened up my eyes and mind to cars I never would have thought about. I love your videos are short and to the point. I am a Subaru fan boy! But there so many cars to consider for power and speed. Subaru for winter fun in Ohio.
I can’t get over the weird smile on the new BRZ. I’d rather have it than the 86 just because it’s overwhelmingly a Subaru car (same reason I’d probably rather have a Z4 than a Supra, it’s a BMW motor+chassis with very little Toyota heritage about it), but the 86 just looks so much cleaner and more polished.
At 13:55 you mentioned that there is rubbing. Do you know if it was on the outside where the tire meets the fender or on the inside of the wheelwell? Thank you!
(Here's me thinking that light blue was a stock color bein like, OMGawdesss gimmedat! :) ) It's a wrap. Aww. :) ) (Nice, though. Really nice, whoever did that.)
dyno's are showing a 45-50hp difference stock to stock so you won't make that up with bolt-on's, tune & E85 with the 1st gen. many believe the 1st gen didn't make 200hp as advertised while the 2nd gen is definitely underrated.
Such is the demographic of these cars. Lightweight, great handling and cheap. So they go and ruin the handling, add extra weight and spend the cars worth of money on mods that add nothing other than style points. Each to their own by all means, but to me, the majority of owners of these cars modify them in a way that completely goes against their designed purpose.
We all have our past mods we’d never do again. It’s just a part of growing up. I had a couple stanced cars when I was younger, and it got old quick. It’s much more fun to have a giant killer than a car that destroys itself and drives horribly at any speed. I learned by riding in cars that were modified for performance instead of scene points and realized sticky tires and some actual suspension travel is so much more enjoyable to drive, and doesn’t make the car useless for driving to work.
@@smilepermile8165 you can never have enough. My Mk7 GTI community says the same thing. But this new GR86/BRZ is definitely a winner even without mods. My preference is to tune the car though.
@@ravenstylea2 Wrong. Whats the point of having 1000hp when you can't go wide open throttle on public roads with low speedlimits? Do you seriously think speed limits increase on a regular basis? How is it fun to press 10% of the gas pedal when you have an overpowered car on a road with speedlimits? You'll be using the brake pedal longer than the gas pedal - how is that fun? More power + torque means you'll go through tyres and fuel faster, you'll be breaking driveshafts, clutches and diffs, so you'll be stopping more than driving. The whole point of the GR86 is that it is a fun car at an AFFORDABLE price.
@@ravenstylea2 More power requires more cooling, more pipes, beefier transmission and diff, making the car more heavier and expensive. You clearly don't understand the core principles of the 86/BRZ of being a lightweight, nimble and reasonably priced car do you? MK7 Golf are only 'fun' because of their straight line performance. They're front biased weight distribution means they'll never be as engaging as the 86/BRZ if they had the same engine + torque output.
@@smilepermile8165 it's never "right" or "wrong" to have a personal preference as to what You want to do with Your car. I really liked the video and it's cool how you involved the owner but I personally couldn't be content with 200hp. I do agree with the point you made that it's the perfect car for a beginner with rwd because it's not enough power to get out of control too easy.

hard for me to justify spending that much money on 228hp to the crank. bought my fiesta st for $15k and after $5k mods for full bolt ons and a big turbo it is at 350whp and handles like a dream while also weighing less. just cant justify it for a second vehicle
Maybe it looks better in person? Otherwise yeah, it's grown on me a bit, but not seeing why people think gen 2 looks better. Do people like those side rocker fins?
I have a hard time with newer cars. The chimes and buzzers and driving nannies all drive me crazy. If I can’t drive from my mailbox to my porch with no seatbelt without the thing freaking out, it really starts to affect my opinion of the car. If I put a tire over the paint line chasing an apex and the car is having an anxiety attack, I’m ready to get out and drive something else. The shift beep would annoy me too. Can I have a new car that just lets me drive?
Honestly trying to see how the GR Corolla is gonna stagger up against the GR86. I’ve seen people put out around 350-400 hp for the Yaris, so probably expecting the same with the Corolla hopefully. If that’s so, I would Prefer the Corolla instead of the 86.

Best of luck with your new venture into YT B Levan!
The car looks sick. And I love the color too.
Great job dude!
This thing really looks awesome, especially in that color and on those wheels, something else for sure!
Most modern cars are just not doing it for me, but this is actually really nice, great job! 👌
$1000 exhaust + tune fixes the dip easily. Still less power, but it’s not as much of a deal breaker as what this video is making it sound like lol
People here in the states are really used to big displacement huge hp cars. That’s one of the major reasons people complain.
This car is definitely car of the year material.
I know people are mixed and a lot of people hate how the new gr86 and brz look. But i think it looks fantastic, and like it a lot better than the old one
Absolutely love the updated rear end
Man those rims are perfect for the BRZ's sleek futuristic look.
Hopefully this new engine stands the test of time. I've been reading many nightmare stories recently of people with zenki models completely failing on them.
Does this BRZ have a Zenki engine ?
Sweet clean build man. That guy should be proud and that’s awesome he drove so far for this!
With the M3, WRX, Supra, and GTI being so mixed in opinion, its really nice to have a car where everyone is like “car good, me like”.
B Levan is killing it - SEMA here you come!
Those wheels are from fitment industries right
Basically yeah, their wheel brand is called annovia
You got it! We made a perfect size and fitment specifically for this car 👍🏻
Wow David you’ve got some nice drifting skills
As an FRS owner the affordable fast car to get is the new Z. I'm happy with what I have though - but I only want to have a little fun without getting any speeding tickets. My 120mph days have passed. I just like drifting the occasional 90 corner, the highway ramps and interchanges.
4:23 "dayum" lol he wasn't expecting TDIB (forgot his name sorry) to actually rip it
David
Lol and he was nice enough to drift it for him
WHAT IM FROM JAX FL TOO!!!! CRAZY, when you said he's from here in Duvalllll i was NOT expecting that. I'm definitely going to follow him now! And yes jax is completely flat land. lol
Managed to find his car at a show in Jax around 2 months ago before the wrap, beautiful car beautiful wheels
It's just too bad they're difficult to get your hands on right now. Been trying for months :(
The power fogures from the manufacturer are underrated, most dynos are showing crank horsepower and torque are quoted conservatively. Bolt ons and a tune (Once available) will satisfy my need for more power without having to boost it.
I might have to look into getting myself one of these once I actually have a job, because in terms of pricing, it's really not bad considering how much you're getting
Better get some good credit too
Once you get a job you gonna make 30k in less than a year?
@@nukedpancakes3_863 no, but I could finance one of these things with a good sized down payment.
@@calebrose4607 I don’t understand why people don’t buy used instead of buying a new car for 35k minimum for like 260 hp lol. My 08 g37 manual on coils blow this thing out of the water for 10 grand and would outperform it in almost every aspect
@@nukedpancakes3_863 you forgot the part where he wouldn't own a shit box g37.
VN for the Win.
@@coreybrainard3939 I agree, the new Elantra N is a CRAZY bargain, probably the best deal you can get it without the markup
Thank you for the AWESOME videos you make. You have opened up my eyes and mind to cars I never would have thought about. I love your videos are short and to the point. I am a Subaru fan boy! But there so many cars to consider for power and speed. Subaru for winter fun in Ohio.
Super clean! Love these little monsters definitely a great street car
An advertisement that actually I’m wanting to look into for once!
At 13:55 you mentioned that there is rubbing. Do you know if it was on the outside where the tire meets the fender or on the inside of the wheelwell? Thank you!
I like this guy, you to give credit! Curious what he does next to the car
(Here's me thinking that light blue was a stock color bein like, OMGawdesss gimmedat! :) ) It's a wrap. Aww. :) ) (Nice, though. Really nice, whoever did that.)
Lol you couldnt tag the guy? Lol Class act
I know you've had to have driven last gen with headers and custom tune. How does that compare to stock gr86?
dyno's are showing a 45-50hp difference stock to stock so you won't make that up with bolt-on's, tune & E85 with the 1st gen. many believe the 1st gen didn't make 200hp as advertised while the 2nd gen is definitely underrated.
David come to Texas and drive mine on the track, I'll get us a track day
Between one of these and the new gr Corolla that’s what I’m hunting for in the next 2 years
Amazing wrap color.
Blue ridge parkway?
Yoo, I live in Jax too, just ordered my GR86 the other day. Excited to get it in.
Ayy I’m from Jax too! Gonna have to give homie a sub
Talks about how good and nimble the car feels then wants to put air suspension ..🤦♂️
I know! Like wtf..🤦♂️
Beautiful car! Would be perfect with a S/C
Isn't 228 horsepower a lot for an N.A four-banger?
yea its pretty good, not like crazy record breaking. its more like 240 though, they are under reported from factory
Definitely. But being a boxer definitely helps it make good power.
Jeezzzzzz I’m never this early!! Should be going to sleep like but il wait 😂
I have a Audi S3 and I really want a BRZ.
honestly i still like the looks of the original better. something about the front and back of this new one bothers me.
When the aftermarket header and tune combo comes out, this should be even that much more fun to row through the gears.
You'll still say the same thing even if this car had 400hp 🙄
If I want to dive into a bigger turbo for my car, than i will need to deal with all the expense and headaches that go with it. This is common knowledge. When I attend car shows, I respect everyone's build, because it's not up to me what they should do with their car. Don't play yourself.
GT 86 LOOKS BETTER THAN THE BTZ TO HAPPY TO BE LIKE THE OLD ONE IT LOOKED WAY BETTER
The styling wull have to grow on me. I remember in 2014 when the mustang changed body styles took a while to get used to it. Bought one in 2017. Love that its comes with a stick. You guys more excited for this or the 400z
Will you review the 2022 Miata with its KPC system?
Damn David, just make me buy a BRZ then😭😭
damn didnt even linked up B Levans UA-cam channel in the description :D
OK, I had an S13...I gotta know: Which is better BRZ or 240SX?
I love it that’s probably going to be a car that goes up in value
I really liked the video and it's cool how you involved the owner but I personally couldn't be content with 200hp. I do agree with the point you made that it's the perfect car for a beginner with rwd because it's not enough power to get out of control too easy.
It's officially 220hp but most dyno closer to 250hp with about 215 at the wheels
I hate my gt86 so much..
I meant to say l like my gt86 so much I broke the motor by 30k.
I can't put that engine back in so what do I do??
30047mile to 3cyl running rumble.
Anyone know about this problem 🤔
hard for me to justify spending that much money on 228hp to the crank. bought my fiesta st for $15k and after $5k mods for full bolt ons and a big turbo it is at 350whp and handles like a dream while also weighing less. just cant justify it for a second vehicle
its more like 240hp, your fiesta barely weighs less and its fwd
@@arcanevoid9199 my car is gutted and weighs approximately 235lb less than stock. And already weighed 2690lb stock to begin with.
Woul like to see the new elantra n fulll mod
The looks are slowly growing on me, but that shifter beep would get on my nerves.
Can I have a new car that just lets me drive?
a lot of it is required, not something they want to put on. Pretty sure all of it can be turned off though
previous gen looks so much better imo. the new one looks like an accord
Honestly trying to see how the GR Corolla is gonna stagger up against the GR86. I’ve seen people put out around 350-400 hp for the Yaris, so probably expecting the same with the Corolla hopefully. If that’s so, I would
Prefer the Corolla instead of the 86.
4 doors yeah,is corolla fwd?
@@crisaldrinemasilang3125 yup four door but the gr package is going to be AWD. I read reports that there’s a possibility of 4 cylinder engine over a 3 cylinder engine but nothing concrete yet.
One is a supped up economy car. The other is a legitimate sports car. Im sure it will be good to drive but at the end of the day it will never be a lightweight RWD sports car. I will take the 86 any day of the week.
@@Zayd0o0o AWD makes drivers 'think' they're great at driving, its a false sense of security. The GR86 and MX-5 teaches car control at an affordable package and has cheaper consumable costs.
What was the buffering noise they pointed out?
I just bought me a new gti. I love it so far
