Ukraine war teaching defence industry how to combat future threats

- The Ukraine conflict shows that the UK needs to have a structure in place to work with industries to face modern threats, a leading defence company has said.
Defence industry giant KBR, which has been providing support to the British Army for more than a decade, will now be working with the UK to support Ukraine and says lessons can be learned on how to incorporate defence and industry in times of war.
"The UK industry and UK MOD have had as much, if not more, to learn from the Ukrainians in that exchange and, likewise, British industry has a huge amount it can provide to support the effort," said the head of policy and public affairs for KBR, Hugo Rosemont.

Why are we supporting and funding a US company?? What about building up UK capacity??
UK to busy giving free money to illegal imagrants and Muslims.. 😅 UK is a failed country.
cause they make the best stuff lol
Well both - we should have a European defense army which could be independent from the US (see what is going on there) but without the US the Ukraine would have fallen
Know they said a company, but Biden sent huge amounts of cash and military surplus from what I've heard. When cash was over there heard Netanyahu was there Not in Israel when it was attacked Oct.7
if UK made their own weapons US wouldn't make money from it so they would influence UK to not do it and only buy US stuff
Who knew that Mr Bean had so much knowledge of the armaments industry?😅
Research and development is essentially why NATO is providing all this aid in tech and vehicles imo, this is the first modern war between two conventional armies and by having Ukraine use their gear it allows them to observe and note what improvements and upgrades should be taken
you'd think point-defense systems would be commonplace by now
🤗
There has always been 2 problems, those systems have always been very complex to mount and to get eletricity output to it, vehicles not ment to be equiped from factory with such systems do not generate enough eletricity to power those defense systems. Secondly, virtualy all of NATO and much of the world, is using armored vehicles who's design dates back 20 sometimes 40 years ago which despite modernized, they where never even envisioned to get such systems so, mounting them has been the hardest challenge since vehicles don´t have enough space for all the components while externaly, the defense systems interfere with the vehicle systems such as antennas, weapons and so on.
Best to stop thinking then .

Dont build tanks, just build thousands of drones. Win win every day.

It shows in all cases the lack of ability amongst upper ranks to foresee future wars and they keep buying updated versions of old kit that won the last war!

You know this is ramping up for a forever war.
If that is what Russia wants, they can have it.
Russia can barely hold it together without military aid now with it they are coming apart.
Somewhat correct. Forever yes but with a far higher intensity.
This basically means that if the west will not loose the political will eventually Russia will loose since the west can play the game longer.
Recently, Ukraine estimated that it has destroyed over 8,000 orc tanks since the Krime-lin's invasion on 24 Feb 2022.

What a waste of men and equipment
I agree, Russia should withdraw from its invasion and none of this would need to continue
Ukraine is a great proving ground for arms manufacturers. If it works today it will sell tomorrow. So why is it that Russia hasn't fielded the T-14 Armata? Too scared to show the world that it isn't as good as they claim.
Send in the Groans !
Just watching this video tells me that we have learnt nothing from the ukraine war
Eye eye, summat not right here.
This should have been done in 2014. What is the point of setting up a defense industry in Ukraine when they don't have any money to buy the equipment.
Land will be cheap, workforce who are cheap, experienced and work hard. Less red tape from the government as they will owe these companies. It will generate employment and taxes to a country that needs it.
Because we couldn’t be seen to be Involved in the killing of ethnic Russian civilians in Donbas and the Crimea, we had to wait until the focus was off of that before getting involved….

Russia has no interest in Europe. They just can't accept NATO in Ukraine. Doesn't take a genius to work out what the yanks would do if China setup a few bases in Mexico does it? Rest easy and stop drinking up the propaganda
no it isn't they have shown that old russian and soviet era tanks suck against modern and even not so modern anti tank weapons...and have shown that drones are useful to people that didn't already know that but one new thing they did show that you can probably destroy a crappy military like russia's with just drones or mostly just drones if you have enough of them...but i dont think they can sell their systems with the sales pitch about to be attacked by a crappy military?? our drones........
So are western tanks they are taken out just as easily
diddnt cheap drones destroy supposed state of the art western equipment to
Drones also wrecked Abraham, not sure what you are talking about. The era of tanks is ending now.

So, the British establishment are making money from the Ukraine meat grinder, too. Bravo!
For Darwin sake! So are the Ukrainian defense companies. Profit motives is what has driven our societies to countless innovations. Do you expect these companies to work pro-bono?
Defense companies made money during WWII. Did that make the war against Hitler unjust?!
Don’t confuse symptom and cause. Yes there is money to be made now, as all western states are tooling up their defense posture and their ability to help Ukraine.
That doesn’t mean the war was engineering for profit. Putler decided he wanted an empire, now we are resisting the mad man. When the war is done, we will need to make less weapons, thank Darwin.
My reply about the US making money from wars was randomly removed. Imagine that. What a free world we live in.
Russia can stop the meat grinder any hour of the day, any day of the week. They just need to withdraw from Ukrainian territory.

Nobody wants war, but when it happens you have to learn otherwise the enemy knows more than you. Even if there is no enemy presently the best offense is a good defense. Otherwise others will bully you. It's just the way it is.
Has the UK started to increase its own force numbers in personnel and hardware? No, it hasn't taken he very real threat of a coming world war seriously at all. Heading into 3 years of a brutal unprovoked war in Ukraine, the UK government certainly stepped up to support Ukraine, but do not appear to be building their own forces up for a possible large scale war itself. I know that spending billions on defense is not popular with taxpayers, but being attacked when not prepared at all is far worse. You don't want to try build a decent military during an active war, prepare right now, when preparations should really have commenced when Russia first annexed Crimea. We all saw the future full scale invasion coming back in 2024, when Putin stated that he would not take even more of Ukraine lands and peoples, that alone confirms he wanted more, Putin is a liar and war criminal.
22548 🤫🤐About those ruSSian ships going to Cuba. 🤐Perhaps someone should start a go fund me account for Ukraine to purchase fishing boats and/or seaplane(s) so Ukraine can sit in waiting for the ruSSian ships to enter/leave Cuba into international waters. I imagine the fishing boats/seaplanes acting like the mother ship for a bunch or rubber boats. Once Ukraine gets word the ruSSian ships are approaching international waters, Ukraine launches a bunch of manned rubber boats (to lower radar footprint) with several of those wonderfully effective Ukrainian sea drones in various strategic places to discreetly sit and wait. When the ruSSian ships are in range, the rubber boats launch the swarms of sea drones and...
