It would be subjective as you must consider your rod and lures you intend to throw. But in cooler weather, the waters would be clearing up and FC line would be more ideal as it's going to be less visible to fish
@@muhdanuar6901 a spinning reel have its own flaws as well. Line twists, heavy and inefficient. Distance isn't much more usually for light lures.. So with an experienced thumb, the BC reel will always be superior.
@@rawrfishing Xfinity speed spool Walmart combo with whopper plopper with 20lb Berkeley low vis line sometimes it cast great but then other times the spool will over run probably whipping it to hard I also got the black max baitcaster with 60lb power pro and I almost never get back lash
@SilentDiablo fluoro stretches too.. But it takes a little bit more to do so, but the bad thing about fluoro is that once it stretches, it doesn't go back after it hits a certain point. You can try it and be surprised! I usually tie braid to leader... Whether it's mono, fluoro or copolymer
Thx. But don't recommend the plate swap. The magnets on the sharky 3 didn't do much for the reel. Line was some cheap Line not worth mentioning. Bled all over and lost colors too quick
LOL. I tear my reels down and throw the brake shoes in the trash, first thing. Then when fishing fresh water I dunk the reel every 3 or 4 casts. Water is some bad ass lube. Try it
I like Sunline and currently exploring Varivas lines. Japanese lines are great and pricey. But they give you the accurate ratings. I like sufix mono too... But they are thick as they under rate their products. So 4 lbs is likely 6 lbs or so. Try some of those before exploring expensive lines

You need to thumb it during the cast as well, unless you're compensating with spool tension. You can get over runs at any point of the cast, especially the startup.
With no brakes the backlash comes at the beginning of the cast. Watch next time you throw it out. If u set it to half way watch as soon as u cast hard it'll bird nest as soon as u throw it but sometimes works itself out before it hits the water. Tension is for back last when it hits water, brakes are for backlash at the beginning of the throw. U have to thumb it as soon as u cast it if you use 0 brakes
You know I hate to say it but isn't your thumb a break break list is like when I have my tension set on my baitcaster right so I can just sail it out it hits the water I don't even have to touch the reel
Ur thumb is used for braking for sure. But I am strictly saying zero brakes on the reel's mechanism. And I have the tension set to zero... But not spool left and right movement. I prefer loose tension and rely on thumb for distance
The braking on this reel is supposed to be dynamic. Wanted to see if it helps change the casting behavior of the zephyr bfs reel. Of course.. Trying to look for improvements like smoother casting, easier casting, longer distance etc.. It made it harder to cast. Back lash more and shorter distances

u can choose a cheap brand and hope for the best, or a more expensive one knowing it works and last for the value. in the end of the day, neither are japanese, so we get what we pay!
@@vin18m it's a fun reel to use man before I had a 13 fishing inception I can use normal baitcasters I just find a dc easier to use and more fun, plus the zing noise makes you smile every time

@@goyslop4289 I have 13 bait casters. 12 don't back lash. I kayak fish almost everyday. 1 of those 13 is a kast king. That is the only one where the magnetic brakes are cheap garbage. Most of my other reels don't need anymore then 2 to 4 on brake settings and they are all different brands. Kast king is just the cheapest "big name brand" out there
I mean... Magnetic doesn't mean it's bad. Sounds like you are setting up the reels differently between styles of reels perhaps? I set mine like Daiwa. No tension and just put brakes at 70 percent to start and figure where your sweet spot is

I use 10# braid & a 1/8 oz split shot. I normally cast a good 60-70' with barely any effort

I use 20lb mono and I hate it it back lashes a lot because it's just to thick and has memory I'm planning on upgrading to 50lb braid
I don't know your full setup, but it is also possible that your rod, reel, line and lure weight are not working all together

@@prolordyt9356 budget combos can be hit or miss. I try to avoid those as much as possible.
I am using 50lb power pro and abu Garcia black max and I can cast 100 yards with a 7.0 foot rod with a 1 ounce egg sinker

I turned all the brakes off as soon as I started using baitcasters...it's not hard at all to just stop it with your thumb before hitting the water

Is the zephyr brs for like weightless rigs ? Or am I mis informed?
It's for lighter lures down to 2 grams total weight. So when u throw weightless plastics, you still have the plastic and the hook to count as weight

I have no idea what reel that you have mentioned. The Zephyr bfs reel is great for 2 grams and up and works best on a L or ML rod setup

I hate kast kings. I got one just cause it was on sale. Backlashed almost every time. All of my lews never back lash
Not every reel are the same. But don't think Lews have a BFS reel available
Sounds like user error I'm throwing 1/16oz micro cranks a good 30 feet with 0 backlash issues.
