Gonna miss this guy in a Leafs uni... You endured the worst of times in Toronto, you also helped them become competitive again. I wish you all the best in Philly JVR.
The flyers got him first, he played in philly for about 3 years then got traded to the leafs, then traded back to the flyers so technically the flyers raised him lol
Sad to see a player like JVR go. He had career highs the last few seasons, great player, TO just couldn't afford to keep him. He'll be missed in the 6ix for sure. Goodluck in Philly
WELCOME BACK JV!! One of the lower moments as a fan to see you traded. I always kept a side wise eye on you up in Toronto and couldn't be happier with your continued success into the rightful ALLSTAR you are today!! Peace from Alaska.
JVR is a class act.Wish him the best from Toronto.Great player for those garbage goals.JVR always cleans up the trash around the net.See JVR Nov 24th in Toronto.Standing ovation.
@@SirManfly - I wouldn't say hes glad to be out of Toronto, he loved The Leafs. But yeah of course he is glad to be back ' Home' with his family & friends, who wouldnt be? Just like how Tavares is happy to be back 'home' in Toronto with his family & friends as well. The Leafs took in JVR & raised him like there own. But you guys traded him & betrayed him at first. You could tell the resentment he had inside with everytime he played against Philly how hard he played to show that you guys fucked up for lettng him go. And how that goof Claude Giroux said he's a no talented "Pigeon" that feeds off of other players skills... So for you to say that he's so happy to 'finally' be out of Toronto like he hated it here is bullshit, and your a prick for saying that. 'your an asshole'.
I enjoyed JVR's time in Toronto, but it was the best choice to let him walk because he more than likely is never going to replicate the 36 goal season he had and it would have ended up being a massive overpayment.
It wasn't funny one game when JVR was waiting for the puck to come up the boards to him, someone hit him hard from behind in the boards. The guys gets a penalty and JVR is skating to the bench and Giroux was doing that.
During the summer when the Flyers' prospects are down at the Jersey shore, there was a meet and greet at a local watering hole. JVR was just a teenager back then and I bumped into him when heading to the bar for another drink. There were a few young women standing next to JVR and I told the group, ' Someone should latch on to this kid, he's going to be a star ' ...I dont know what happened that night, but I'm glad he made it...and made it back to Philly
Chubby? He's a huge guy full of muscles and probably a very low body fat %. So, it is your imagination and most likely you projecting your own self-image on to JVR
Odds are rented. There are several places around Philly owned by players of Philly teams past that - for whatever reason - rent them out. The pro sports circle is pretty small, so these places end up housing pro players while they're in Philly for however long.
I'm glad he's back. I thought trading him for Luke Schenn was a terrible deal. But Homer was known for making terrible deals. I think trading Brayden Schenn for a 4th liner/healthly scratch was probably the worst thing Hextall has done so far. I know he wanted cap space but I mean come on. Schenn had a career season and they trade him for a nobody? They didn't even get drafts. If they had JVR, Schenn, Simmonds, Konecny, Patrick, Voracek, Couturier, and Giroux. That's almost 3 lines of star players. Oh my God. I mean, they still have one of the best lineups in all of hockey but that Schenn deal was a shot in the foot. Sure they wanted to make room for the younger guys but Schenn isn't old and he had just hit his stride. Now he's the Blues' best player. LOL. At least Hextall isn't Homer.
I must of forgot or got wrong info about the picks. I was told it was a straight up deal. Either way, even with the picks, I think it was a stupid deal. I mean, they already have the deepest prospect pool in the NHL. They don't need more. Schenn was a know quantity. A solid, tough player that could hit like a train, fight decently, but most importantly, score regularly. And he was on an upswing. Look at what he did with the Blues. I think Hextall is a great GM but that was a bad move. They don't need more picks. They need scorers (well, not anymore) and goaltending. If they were going to trade Schenn, they should've gotten a high end goalie. Someone like Price, Lundqvist, Fluery... someone along that line. Sure they have Hart coming but he's not a sure thing and he still has to mature as a pro. By the time he's a top goalie, Giroux, Simmonds, and Voracek will be out of their prime. Giroux is good enough to be a top level guy until he retires but still, he's not going to have many more 100 point seasons. They need a top goalie NOW. Not 3 seasons from now. Giroux is one of those guys that comes only once in a lifetime. They need to win a Cup before G can't be the best anymore.
I don't know how you can say it was a smart deal when you don't know how they'll fare. And, even if Frost is a beast in 4 or 5 years, that won't help the team win the Cup when Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, and a few others, are all in their prime. A smart deal would've been to get a top 10 goalie if you're going to get rid of a guy like Schenn. I hope Frost is a beast this year. I'm a Flyers fan. But I still think dropping anyone for anything other than a top 10 goalie was stupid idea. Unless they are getting a high value star and able to have cap space. They'll need room for the guys coming up that will need to be re-signed.
That's not true. He had a great season right before being traded which upped his value quite a bit. They could've gotten so much more for him. And, I never claimed he was a cornerstone player. But a top 3-6, 100%. Like I said, trading him for what they got was why it was stupid. They could've gotten so much more. Like I said, go for a top goalie. They have so many prospects they're going to have to trade some of them at some point. They could've given away one of their better prospects, a draft, and Schenn and gotten a serious goalie. I never said he was he couldn't be traded. I said the trade they made was stupid. Don't be such a homer. I love the Flyers more than anyone but I can still see a bad move when it's made. I wasn't the only one that thought that.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Let's hope they can make some waves this season. Even though I think it was a dumb trade, it's not like it's going to change so I hope they make the best of it.
Just gonna....uhhh talk like this..... uhhhh and uhhhh play uhhh everything uhhhhh down the uhhhh middle uhhhh because uhhhhh hockey executives uhhhhh look at uhhhhh any player with uhhhhhh personality uhhhh as a liability.....
