I also like that chiming sound from the categories shuffling. Too bad nobody made a full recording of that cue. But the fact that the contestants always hit their buzzer so quickly so we didn't get to hear that sound for more than 2 seconds is a bummer
One of the very first tape trades I've ever done I got this episode. It wasn't off of USA, but original broadcast. Thanks for bringing up these memories.
This version of TTD is much different the contestant can keep playing as long as they keep winning but the difference is that they don't win a car after 5 games I just noticed that
@@FreestyleAllTheWay-ik4gm I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just saying when it comes to comparing Jim Caldwell to Patrick Wayne Patrick Wayne is dental surgery without the anesthetic call Jim Caldwell is dental surgery with a little anesthetic take it from game show garbage
Patrick is a great actor. As a game show host, you could tell his enthusiasm was forced. Wink Martindale and Jim Caldwell were much looser, they always joked around with the contestants.
I think Soul/R&B artist James Brown would have been a great host for TTD - his toothy smile reminds me of Wink Martindale and Patrick Wayne. Only problem was this aired during a stint in jail. Plenty of charisma though in interviews and on stage! (He DID later compete on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune with Little Richard as his partner.) On a more serious note...they could have hired the Poet Laureate of Television Nipsey Russell (who had Barry-Enright game show hosting experience). I consider him the James Brown of game show panelists and hosts.

A better host and a theme that didn’t get ripped off the Main Street Electrical Parade and this could have been a good show. The rest of the show was left basically intact.
A couple of differences between this one and the previous versions of TTD: Besides a new host, the set has totally been revamped. Second, the contestant stops the shuffling here, whereas on the previous shows, the shuffling stopped automatically. You could honestly write an essay on how not to host game shows just by watching this show. This is what you get when actors try to be game show hosts.
@@LogoMan7777 That's true, but they're primarily known as reporters or TV show hosts, which often require improvisation and thinking on your feet. Patrick Wayne probably never did anything like that, hence why he comes off as real stiff hosting. It’s time for “Yooooouuuu wiiiiinn! The New Tic Tac Dough”.
5 made her a Winner.
Hosted by Patrick "YOU WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN" Wayne
2 things I've always loved about this version:
1) The music
2) The animation of the X's and O's flying on the board
You can thank Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Henry Mancini for the music.

There probably is a clean full recording of the theme, just unavailable to the public
And that's about it.
I actually really liked this show as a child; theme song and all.
Love these episodes! Please upload more if you have them!!
Can't wait to see Tic Tac get a REAL revival with Tom Bergeron hosting on ABC in the near future.
It will be on NBC though.

I actually enjoyed watching this version of Tic Tac Dough. He was a good host.
Patrick Wayne sucks! I can’t stand him! Thankfully the 1978-86 version is still a true classic, and I still have the board game.
Grew up with Wink and liked that version better, with the contestants not stopping the board themselves.
I remembered watching this game show on television.
And Now, Our Host, Who will Guide Us Through the Next 30 Minutes of TIC TAC DOUGH, Wink Martindale!

Dumb luck
Say something good about Tic Tac Dough '90:
I like the theme song...that's it.
The board animations are quite neat too
The increased pot value, although in tie situations the pot should have been carried over, as well as increasing the stakes.
It was Henry Mancini who did this theme song. He was best known for the classic “Moon River” from “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”.
