I was going to get implants when I was 30. My boyfriend begged me not to, bless his soul. He found all this information about the problems you can have and put the fear of God into me so I didn't proceed. I feel really lucky now, especially as I have autoimmune issues, so am certain my body would have rejected them
That is some serious quality content Alana. Congratulations and thank you very much! You always hear about how great and safe cosmetic procedures are from influencers BUT almost never about the risks or things that went wrong during the healing process on their channels.
I have implants and this was lovely for covering a lot of things to consider before getting them. My surgeon explained so much of this to me to make sure I was 100% sure about doing the surgery. You have to really understand your body and what you feel it can take. Implants are extra weight and extra mass in your chest. I'm sharing because I have a specific body type that maybe helped me take them so well with no complications SO FAR. Doesn't mean things can't develop later, but if you're not okay with the risks, please don't get them done.
Biological Tolerance
My surgeon asked a lot of questions about sensitivities of any kind I may had, asked about scarring history, keloids etc. He noticed that I had piercings and tattoos, asked about any adverse reactions. He asked all this to get an idea if I had any biological intolerance of any kind right away. As the surgeon explained in the video, some women have no complications, some have some, and some have a very bad experience, just based on all our individual biology. Some of us are more prone to reactions with implants naturally.
- I personally do not get severe scars, and they fade / heal very well. My body takes to foreign substances well and surgery well. I don't get keloids or have any issues with scar tissue or wound healing. I have had alterations for my ACL in which parts of my body were moved to create a new ligament for my knee. All my scar tissue completely healed, and I didn't have any of the issues with scar tissue other patients did from the same surgery. Its just kinda how your body heals. I do want to mention that I was eating a LOT of protein at this time, which is great for cell recovery, that could've helped a lot, and I am consuming a lot of protein now after my augmentation to help with healing.
Breast & Body Shape
- My natural breasts were B-Cs and already very perky; I could flex my pectoral muscle beneath them, and did a lot of chest exercises in general because I liked having a strong chests to support my natural bust. My natural bust, though not large, was still "heavy." My nipples point straight forward, central on my boob, and my breasts were very round naturally, so there was already a lot of lift and support from my pectoral muscles.
- I am the "Introverted-Triangle" body shape, which is already more top-heavy with broader shoulders, broader rib-cage. It is also a very athletic shape, and I am athletic so my pectoral muscle was already pretty sturdy and used to being broken down (workout,) and repairing itself. They were stronger than average, as I bench press around 150-165ibs pretty regularly. I have naturally more space to work with than someone with a smaller rib structure, as well as naturally great "posture" in which my back muscles have been forcing my breasts /chests up and forward since I was a kid. I don't experience back pain or any pressure / issues in my chests or back as some women have reported.
My surgeon did say "women with smaller rib cages tend to have more pain if they get implants that are big." That makes sense, its less surface area, so more strain on the tissues to accommodate the implant. No doubt more irritation on the tissues as well which can lead to problems and discomfort.
-*I am quite athletic; my pectoral muscles were stronger than average.* Since the implant goes under the muscle, a weak pectoral muscle may lead to some implant complications. My pectoral muscles held the implants so powerfully in-fact, that I had to stop wearing my post-op bra just so they could loosen up a bit lol, and allow the implants to drop and fluff. My implants look no different than my regular breasts did, just bigger ofc, but my pecs really made a massive difference between Alana and my experience I noticed. Not saying she had a weak chest or anything, mine is just above average in strength and that seemed to contribute to maybe not having the side droop and such she experienced? It may be helpful to strengthen the pecs before surgery perhaps?
Pain
- My pain was only at the most a 6 out of 10 fresh out of surgery. I didn't need prescription pain killers at all, just Tylenol sometimes the rest of recovery. The pain stayed at a 2 out of 10 on average, exactly the sensation of having a good heavy workout on your chest muscles. The soreness is exactly what it feels like when the muscle is recovering from being torn down a bit, which is what muscles naturally do. Alana's pain was much more severe! I never felt at any point that my pecs were going to rip or tear - and I've pulled a muscle before lol. She had a legit complication going on there.
Implant Size
- *I went with smaller breast implants* than I wanted, at my surgeons educated request because he went off my body type rather than just "size." My frame can get a full look with less cc than other types of frames, and the smaller the implant the better. Please go as small as you possibly can for the shape you really want. Sometimes "big" isn't better as he put it, and you can get a botched looking job going too big for your frame, and ofc more risks of problems.
Having a Realistic Desired Look
- I gave myself 10 years to think about how I really wanted to look and if I could do it without implants first. Its super important to know 100% how you want to look. If its just "busty" well that's still too broad. There's different kinds of breasts looks / styles. A smaller girl may look amazing with just 300ccs, whereas a more tanky girl may need 500ccs and still not look as "busty." My desired look was to be a 6'0 Amazon (lol) which is exactly how my surgeon built me - as safely as he could.
You shouldn't be cutting into and spending so much money to achieve your "look." It may be too unrealistic for you and more risky to achieve.
The Procedure
- My surgeon specifically said he does not make a fold / does not cut the natural holding point. He stated I do not need it because my breasts were already so high perky anyway, and had plenty of space for the implant to settle well.
- My implants did not and still do not go off to the side as she described after surgery (T.T) I was surprised to hear hers did right after operation! Mine were cone shaped, and sitting straight up on my chest like a barbie doll (lol.)
- My surgeon did not have any assistant for my implants, he did them both on his own. He only ordered 400cc, and given my natural shape, said he'd size once to make sure.
Overall
It is always a risk, implants are at this time from what I've researched, seeming to be more a 80/20 chance of something going wrong and is still in development. Someday they'll be closer to 100% but until then I think we just have to take a little more care into ourselves and make sure we aren't trying to push our bodies too hard or far - especially too fast. I recommend giving your body time, building it up if you can pre-op as much as possible and then making lifestyle changes around your implants. I monitor more the chemicals I put into my body, and drink more water to help my body clear out anything the implants might start doing. Silicon can be absorbed safely into the body, so long as it has a way out and isn't in large volumes - but like tattoos its a foreign substance inside.
Media should also be more open like this about implants. Its not discouraging to be honest. In fact I think it would help a lot of of breast implant complications experienced to know what the risks are in detail, how to be prepared and how to treat them. Being "scared" to get implants is not exactly healthy either - because "risks" are everywhere - its a bit of fear-mongering to hold someone back from something that is likely to work out very well for them, all because of the chance of a risk. To each her own, but loved this video, I subscribed and hope everyone will be comfortable in whatever choice they make for their bodies ^^
For all the very young people considering getting an augmentation: I grew like 3 cups from the time I was 19 to now (26) and I didn't even have a child or anything!
People don't talk about how our bodies are still maturing throughout our 20s! Please give yourself the chance to grow and really settle into your body before spending serious $$$ you'd be really surprised to see how you'll grow and change even in a short span of time
Same! I used to wear a 34b and now wear a d … I didnt even gain weight! Just bunch of periods blew them up and they never went down. Last growth spurt was at 26-27

Same here- no kids. At 40 went from a 36 C to a 36D, 50 38D with a fuller D, 60 - no more tear drop- full breast 40D- did serious weight lifting for the last 5 years and built up my pecs. So, give your body a chance.
You tend to follow how your mom develops in later life.
This was my experience as well! Was a B cup all throughout high school (and hated it) and then by 26 after having more regular periods they've been a D for the last 7 years. And I actually lost weight from 19-26 so it was totally a hormonal thing. I was always a late bloomer
I love how open your surgeon is. My surgeons were the complete opposite. I had capsular contracture in both breasts after my double mastectomy right away. Both breasts were raising to my collar bone and the pain was unreal. They convinced me that by changing the type of implants, I would not get it again. So I switched from textured to smooth and same thing, the capsular contracture happened again. We did the surgery one more time to try the very basic saline implants and sure shit capsular contracture happened for a third time. I couldn't do it any more so I spoke with a new surgeon about diep flap with removal of breast implants and had that surgery last year. Although it was the worst recovery surgery to date, I would never go back to having implants ever again. I truly believe our bodies no matter what, will have issues when foreign objects are placed into them as a permanent solution.
Breast implant illness is also extremely common. Where your implants make you soo sick and you literally feel and sometimes look like you're dying. I honestly wish that breast implants would be banned.
Completely agree with you. And I hate the pressure on us women to look a certain way too. I am bi and I love women and the women I am physically attracted to, I actually feel like walking up and telling them bc they are soft, they have curves, they have cellulite, they look NOTHING like what is advertised as beautiful. They are REAL women...but they would probably not think of themselves as beautiful bc of the social programming all girls and women go thru. I'm so sorry for the hell you went through and sincerely hope life has gotten better now for you. Blessings.
There is some really good information here but I'd like to pop in and give my own experience. I developed two large tumors, one in each breast, when I was 16 years old. (Well, they started very small, and grew significantly by the time I was 20). They were biopsy-confirmed benign, but I was told to strongly consider removing them before they grew any larger. Unfortunately though, due to how big they actually were, multiple surgeons informed me I'd be left with deformed breasts from the removal. Because of my age, one surgeon respectfully suggested implants to restore my shape/size following the removal of the tumors. She knew that body image is important at such a young age in womanhood and she expected the deformity to be very apparent. After lots of discussions and trips back and forth to my surgeon's office, I ultimately decided to get the tumors out and the implants in, all in one operation. It's been six years and I have zero regrets. I've had no issues, they look beautiful, and I haven't experienced any symptoms of breast implant illness so far. So to any women contemplating augmentation and watching videos like this, just know that while it's important to look at every decision you make from every angle, there are PLENTY of people who've gotten this done who remain happy with their decision, and it has not affected their quality of life at all. I've had a child and breastfed, everything worked out fine, and I still look and feel great. Informed decisions are the best decisions :) and props to Alana for sharing her story and giving just another perspective on her individual experience. These types of videos are great because many surgeons skim over the the details of what could happen.
I'm really happy that this worked out for you. Are you 22 now? I know everything health wise if different for everybody, but the people I know who had issues didn't start rexofbisinf them until their late 20s to mid 30s. Of course there are people that notice problems much sooner and even immediately for some, but just be aware. Also- DO change your implants every 8-10yrs. If you do not, you _will_ eventually have problems! Do not wait longer than 10yrs! Maintenance is very important!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm getting mine in July and to be honest I'm kinda scared, I don't want to regret getting implants. Now we have "implants that lasts forever" but the comment this doctor said made me doubt. I mean, I would love to have a surgery and never having to replace them again :( will you have to change yours?

This was amazing! I'm generally very pro-plastic surgery, although have no particular interest in breast implants. I do, however, feel that there isn't enough transparency around just how complex and life-altering many of these procedures can be. Your surgeon did a really fantastic job explaining potential issues around breast implants. She was super engaging and clearly takes the Hippocratic Oath very seriously. Removing my implants gave me my life back. People don’t realise the risk or don’t think it will happen to them.

I had implants put in 6 years ago when I was 20 and have been thinking of having them removed but I was so scared of what I will look like afterwards.

Breast implant illness almost killed me. I got them put in at 26 and removed at 30. Sickest I have ever been in my life. Breast implant illness can occur within months or YEARS after you get them in. Not worth it. I was terrified all the time I was going to die and not see my daughter grow up. Truly terrible illness.
Were you able to breastfeed
When u say "die" like was ist because of a depression u got from them? Or physical pain?
Had my implants put in 2008, we really had no information. Every surgen was telling me that complications are extremely uncommon, and that it's safe. Ten years later when I was sick and didn't know why, I went through the rabbit hole, so much information, so many stories, a hole community. Got them out, could not be happier even though could not find a doctor that took me seriously.

After putting Botox in my face and my cheeks I was getting very sick while everyone was telling me Botox was safe. Sure.
@@marym3355I had Botox one time and had such a bad scary disfiguring face reaction after my whole face got infected and blew up was deformed and infected and my whole eye and one side of my face was swollen huge. I have been afraid to get Botox again since then but have really wanted to be able to use it

I had implants for 8yrs and just removed them March this yr. I had so many problems and told my surgeon, he gaslighted me saying its in my head and implants are completely safe….best thing Ive done is remove them
if they admitted they were harmful, they would probably open themselves up to lawsuits.and problems with their malpractice insurance. Therefore, they are probably lying through their teeth.
I'm glad you've not simply denounced implants completely but suggested help for getting redone or just going into it all with the correct information about the longterm care and affects and signs of complications ❤

I learned so much from this video. Thank you! I always wanted implants because i have very small breasts but ever since people have been talking about breast implant illness it just doesn’t seem worth it to me. I have chronic illness and have learned just how important your health is to your quality of life. Right now I’m doing pretty good because exercise has really helped keep me feeling healthy but that hasn’t always been the case. Most women that get breast implants probably haven’t been through any major health scares and just don’t know how bad things can get. I definitely think that education is important and that surgeons and staff should do as much as they can to make sure that their patient is informed beforehand.
Getting my explant on 10/20, 9 days from today, I'm so scared but excited to be free. Thank you for sharing this.

How did it go?
I had horrible capsules form around my breast implants almost immediately. I kept them in for almost 10 years. They caused my breast tissue to become very dense and made getting mammos a nightmare. Finally had them removed along with all the dense breast tissue and the pain finally went away.

No one regrets a good nose job. But yes my tip is still numb after almost 10 years. A very small price to pay for beauty.

Ive had my saline implants for 27 years. No problems ever. Feel great. I guess I was lucky. I'm almost 60, at this point I don't see getting them removed.

Great video! So Informative! 💚I got mine done in 2017 because I had a deformity: tubular breast deformity (TBD)! I was so nervous to get them done and did so much research before I did them! Thankfully I found an incredible surgeon Dr Horton in SF who specializes in treating this condition. If you have TBD you need a specialist otherwise they will make the Deformity worse! I’m so thankful I haven’t had any issues with mine (at least not yet) and I’ve been very happy with them! Honestly though I feel like (unless people have a deformity like me) people should really be cautious when getting implants due to all the possibly complications! So many things to be informed of! 💚
nice comment but did you hear the part where she explained that the implants caused her ribs to be deformed and concave? She is warning about deformities from them. So if you develop BII later, and then you need to remove them to save your life, you might face another deformity. So, if there is anyway to have surgery without inserting all the toxic chemicals like silicone and heavy metals, then great, but otherwise, it might cause more problems later.
Hey, as someone with the same deformity I totally understand and agree with your points! Others have no idea how hard TBD actually is, the benefits for me personally outweigh the risk with how hard hard it has been on my self esteem. @@samoyedhugger please watch Dr. Khan who is an explant specialist before you make your decision. One of the latest interviews was of a women who developed a neuroma from the scar and it caused her back to get thrown out and not be able to walk for periods of time. She lost 10 years of her life until she removed them. Please call Dr.. Khan to understand your options with your particular deformity.
I never wanted Implants even with small A cup breast. For what? Just to have a foreign item inside your body and just to have what society now consider aesthetics. F that. The only exceptions is women who might need reconstructions for cancer.

I love that everyday i become more and more appreciative of my natural breasts and choose to cling to the choice of intentional health and wellbeing, instead of living my life for the approval of others. If anyone is insecure, please just realize that is part of life. Life isnt about your happiness. Learn your own worth, beyond what you look like. Choose Yourself, because society will choose for you either way once your health fails and you have no back up plan for your looks. You have to be more than your looks, you have to be YOU

Plastic surgeries or procedures were created for people who need them if they had a terrible accident, cancer, whatever it is… the problem is that now people go and get a surgery, or botox, or whatever as if they were grabbing a coffee to go at Starbucks. We are born the way we are born for a reason… I’m just so sick and tired of this fake body positivism we have in this century where it’s all about accepting people with fake eyesbrows, fake eyelashes, fake butts, fake boobs, fake muscles, tummy tucks, liftings, fake nails, botox… instead of accepting ourselves as we are. I think there's nothing wrong with making changes, complications and risks should be talked about but it's amazing that we have so many ways to augment/change ourselves. Plastic surgery isn't going anywhere, almost everyone in the entertainment industry does these things and now everyday people do them too. Shaming people isn't going to make it go away.

If a person risks their LIFE going under anesthesia for their vanity, it is a reflection of their values or lack thereof. One might consider such a person to be shallow. I’m so glad I had a good surgeon. I went in thinking I wanted 650 cc implants lol. He was like “Yeahhh, not happening” 😂. He wouldn’t go much more than 400 so I got 415 cc’s on each side. They’re the perfect size.
I also know he didn’t use sizers because he didn’t order my implants until after I scheduled my appointment. The secretary called beforehand just to go over everything and confirmed the agreed upon size before ordering them. I mean…isn’t that why they measure everything in the consult after all?
I also never really had any pain. Stiffness and soreness yeah, but nothing that actually hurt.
I’m thankful for videos like this and 100% support the open and honestly discussions about any and all possibilities but still…I hope I never have to take my implants out. I got them at 41 and was an AA my whole life. Going back would be devastating.

My experience is very similar to yours - went to a great surgeon who picked the sizes day before surgery. No complications after 3 years. I had slight increased sensation in my nipples for a few weeks after surgery that went away. I was 36 at the time and had been researching and going to consultations for a few years. I am not prone to bad scarring or autoimmune issues, I have a feeling they play a part in many women’s experiences with breast implant illness. I have even had a baby since having my surgery - I didn’t expect that! I was not able to breast feed much, only supplement to mostly formula. I knew this going into surgery, in hind sight I would have waited a few years to have them done. My breasts look amazing and I have felt great about them ever since my surgery. Pick a good surgeon ladies!! I think this also makes a huge difference in what experience one will have. Shout out to Dr Robert Freund!!!

My nipples got hyper sensitive too but it was by a lot and it lasted a good 2-3 months. Even just them rubbing on the softest cotton was uncomfortable lol. I figured it was better than losing sensation though and they did go back to normal thankfully.

I was a small 32c prior to implants and 32a after they were taken out with level 4 capsular contracture

About to go through my 2nd explant surgery after another experience with implants didn’t work out. The first set lasted about 9 yr before having severe pain. This time only a few months before getting a capsular contracture. I was told I could just get the implant replaced. I’ll be 40 in a few years, no thanks. I’m done with these things.

When I was 20, I had so many bad ideas of things I wanted to do but they sounded so great to me at the time. By the time I hit 30, I was very thankful that I didn’t wreck my natural body with lipo and implants. We often fail to appreciate the gifts we have when we are young.

I’m so so grateful for your video, the doctor’s information and all the education provided here, and for all the women who have spoken up about their complications! It’s crazy to think that I was so stuck on going through this surgery just to love myself more.. now that I see all the horrific things that could happen and am no longer interested in this surgery, I not only have a peace of mind with my decision but I’ve also grown to love my A cup and genuinely feel so grateful for my healthy body doing what it’s intended to do which is to protect me and keep my vital organs healthy, as long as I am doing my part such as eating healthy and keeping my mental and physical health on check. I love my body, I’ve grown closer to God and realize this temple is to be protected and adored just the way it is. I’m much happier and I’m still an A cup. It’s about shifting our mindset and realizing how perfect our imperfections are and trust that we were made this way for a reason and we just need to honor and love ourselves each day. Yes but they don’t last forever. Eventually you’ll have to have them replaced & that requires another surgery.
I’m fully aware of that and that doesn’t change the fact that hundreds of thousands of people who get implants have no issues at all
I had my implants removed in 2022, after being in 14 years. I had a lift with it and they look so beautiful and I feel so much better now. One was capsular contracture and one shell was completely off on one side !!! Scary

Had my boobs done at 35, 48 now and they still look great. Maybe because I went from a B to a C, I love my saline implants. My surgery was 45 minutes. He went under the muscle. I had 3 day recovery and went to work, I worked at a nail salon doing manicure and pedicures, constantly moving my arms. In addition, I took no painkillers 😬.
Had the smallest cc too, 332 cc.
I guess for some ppl, there are no complications.

I got mine 4 weeks ago, had emediatly Bad Symptoms Like dry mouth, earknocking, i almost think i get Depression from it, constant headache, all sounds to loud, i feel i walk on clouds, my skin gets worse, heart knocking , my hormones are different and the List goes on! In a few days i Go to a doctor to keep them out! I had a cooper iud and the symptoms where almost the same!😮 i Never ever put something into my Body! I‘m a Little Bit sad about how can doctors do this to women without good Information! But maybe i let put them in with good Information, i dont know! But… now its time to Look foward and put them out, Even the cost is so much.. my health is worth it!

I watched you when you were talking about getting them and then after you got them and I was so worried for you. But you were determined to get them. Im glad you’ve gotten them removed. And im glad you’re talking about it. Girls, you may think that you are not good enough but you are! Don’t compare yourself to others as hard as it may be. Try to practice gratitude. Take care of yourself, and you’ll shine from within.
And this is why natural is still best. Respect since it's your body but their are several risks and downsides.
Im trying to tell my 28yo best friend to not get implants but she won't listen 🤷🏽♀️ even after I told her my mom is trying to remove hers because of ask these health issues. A lot of people just like to learn from personal experience 😬
This was an excellent discussion. The surgical tray of “try on” boobs freaked me out. I’d have thought that a vacuum sealed, sterile surgical package of a right and left implant in the desired size, shape, and texture would be used, and inserted extra carefully. What you described is so wrong in every way. I would personally never mutilate myself for anyone else’s approval, but a lot of women feel otherwise, so they could at least operate in more sanitary conditions.

BII and damage to muscles are things I heard about, but your problem of debilitating pain is yet another major problem to be aware of. You said HALF the women in the hospital complain about breast implant pain?! That's crazy! Women are not going to feel sexy if they are in constant pain. How can a person pay a doctor to permanently HURT them when doctors are supposed to take vows of no harm? I like Dr Khan in Michigan because he is an explant specialist and would NEVER perform implant surgery for all those reasons, but especially because of the risk of cancer.
Just a different point of view: you have a brca2 gene mutation which puts you at exactly height risk of getting Brest cancer. Mastectomy (complete breast removal) is recommended to be done as soon as possible. Breast implants are really the only option for such people. Would you rather have a completely flat chest in that case?
I mean, this surgeon was explaining the risks but I heard her mention that she believes breast implants are necessary and a positive at times! They aren't for everyone, but you're right, in this case they would mean a lot ❤ I dont know if youre dealing with this personally, but I wish you the best either way. Also also..my breasts have never been above a b cup, I notice over my weightloss journey they're going back to an A..and like..I'm pretty flat chested at the age of 25. I can't speak on anyone else but it's not such a bad life but I can see why someone wouldn't have the self confidence to be flat chested if they weren't originally. It's a tough call 😢
So you’d remove your breasts to try and avoid cancer and then put in a foreign object that can literally cause cancer? Make it make sense 😞 aside from the cancer risk, Implants can really mess up your immune system. SO not worth it. The size of someone’s chest doesn’t make them more of a woman.
Neither of them are saying to never get implants. Just do your research, be aware of the risks and need for frequent replacements, and to choose a great surgeon. Information is always a great thing! 😊
There are other options using fat or fat flaps from your body. That’s what my mom had done after her mastectomy. No issues at all. I had breast implant illness from my implants.
breast implants have a black box warning for cancer, so it's not good to get them if you are at higher risk of cancer.

I was thinking about getting mine next year and now I feel like this is confirmation not to. I’ve been taking to God about it since I lost 80 pounds since last November and my chest size went from a 36 DD to more like a C. Ever since being Christian I’ve been letting go so much of my past traumas and who I was and I think it had been had for me to give up what brought me attention from men in the past. Maybe God wants something different from me. I’m gonna work to get rid of the mindset of needing plastic surgery to be loved. And thank God for leading me to this video.

I wish more people knew the whole picture about implants. I still wonder about a roommate I had 20+ years ago who got them while we lived together and I helped her recover from the surgery. I came across this info some time ago and always hoped she planned to get them removed if she feels unwell.

I had my 450cc implants removed back in 2012. Chose not to replace with new ones. Just didn’t want them any more.
Yeah they looked pretty saggy for about a week but then everything looked better than before bc I now had some scar tissue from the previous implants and my breast looked fuller and were still perky. I had the implants for 4 years and they looked just fine after removal. I was 31 when they got removed
I got my gummy bear Mentors in 2010. They had a computer program for presizing. So only one size was ordered and he talked me into going smaller and did inflamammary (because of the risk of sliding to the side with axillary). I do experience nerve pain since they were put in too. I thankfully have had no shifting, rippling or hard spots anywhere.

This is why I flew across the country to get fat transfer instead. Went from 32A to 32C/30D cup and the result is basically my breast if it was born with a c-cup. ~Half of my dr's patients are explant patients and their experience will convince you to never get them.
Apparently fat transfer only lasts 9 months tops. Far too expensive to have to keep going to have done every year or more !
