E.coli sign and symptoms in poultry
Escherichia coli (E. coli) infections can manifest with various signs and symptoms depending on the strain and severity of the infection. One common manifestation is diarrhea, which can range from mild to severe and may be accompanied by abdominal cramping, nausea, and vomiting. In more severe cases, especially with certain strains like E. coli O157:H7, symptoms may progress to bloody diarrhea and even kidney failure. Lesions associated with E. coli infections can include ulceration and inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly in the colon. In cases of hemorrhagic colitis, lesions may be present in the mucosa of the colon, leading to bloody diarrhea. Additionally, complications such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) can lead to lesions in the kidneys and other organs. It's important to seek medical attention if you suspect an E. coli infection, especially if symptoms worsen or if you experience signs of dehydration or systemic complications.
