My husband was a mad Mark fan. Since he passed away i have been listening to all his cds to feel closer to him. These lyrics made me smile. Thank you so much for that. The whole album has some great lyrics. Really cheered me.
I just started learning about you. I remember as a kid in Norman Oklahoma in 1984. My friend got cable. I would always switch the channel to MTV. I didn't really understand what you guys were saying back then about "money ain't for nothing and your chicks for free." I then realized you guys were talking about how life sucks when you are working every day in some crap job when you could be rockin'. As we get older I know that the road you all went down wasn't as glamorous as the magazines made out, but I will tell you this. You had us jammin as kids and made our lives pretty neat imagining we could be like you. I wish you the best, my brother. Thank you for the memories. Matter of fact. I am going to put that song on now!!!
The lyrics actually are "Money for nothing and your chicks for free." It was line Mark overheard in an electronics store and one of the floor assistants was saying about rock and roll stars get their money for doing nothing and how "that ain't working, we have to install microwave ovens" and so on.
“Only telling you, just so you know..” gone are the passionate days when points are so important that you have to immediately get them across and make people see, nah can’t be bothered pushing anymore and waiting for them to catch on - I just throw those tags in like “hey just letting you know..” like oh you’re not getting it, ok I’m going to leave this wisdom here for you but I’m moving on, so if I’m gone by the time your mind wakes up at least you’ll know I was thinking about you” - now where’s my bacon roll? 😅
I never got the elbow Just telling you Before you go Only telling you Just so you know I never got the elbow I slung it in Had it up to here I just pulled the pin Went and had a beer I used to love a bit of folding Just for getting by A wad of cash Now that's out of date And so am I As pie and mash S'cuse me, s'cuse me Have you got my roll? My roll? My bacon roll? The time they took us bowling What was that about? I thought what a joke I just went out And had a smoke Then the white water rafting Just some know-it-all With the new regime There to show us all How to build a team He says, "what do you think we're doing?" I said, "don't ask me I've no idea" They all laughed at that That was pretty funny actually S'cuse me, s'cuse me Have you got my roll? My roll? My bacon roll? Have you got my roll? My roll? My bacon roll? I could order you a toastie Just like that one there Or the same in plain white bread When you're dealing with a toastie What do you prefer Brown or red? I never got the elbow Just telling you Before you go Only telling you Just so you know Sending you love and best wishes from 🇩🇪🤞🍻😎
The brevity of life, for those fortunate to live long enough to understand that. Spend your life "building a career" (if so fortunate, not relegated to being a common working slob), only to find you are obsolete. because you do not want to tow the corporate line.

I never got the elbow
Just telling you
Before you go
Only telling you
Just so you know
I never got the elbow
I slung it in
Had it up to here
I just pulled the pin
Went and had a beer
I used to love a bit of folding
Just for getting by
A wad of cash
Now that's out of date
And so am I
As pie and mash
S'cuse me, s'cuse me
Have you got my roll?
My roll? My bacon roll?
The time they took us bowling
What was that about?
I thought what a joke
I just went out
And had a smoke
Then the white water rafting
Just some know-it-all
With the new regime
There to show us all
How to build a team
He says, "what do you think we're doing?"
I said, "don't ask me
I've no idea"
They all laughed at that
That was pretty funny actually
S'cuse me, s'cuse me
Have you got my roll?
My roll? My bacon roll?
Have you got my roll?
My roll? My bacon roll?
I could order you a toastie
Just like that one there
Or the same in plain white bread
When you're dealing with a toastie
What do you prefer
Brown or red?
I never got the elbow
Just telling you
Before you go
Only telling you
Just so you know
Sending you love and best wishes from 🇩🇪🤞🍻😎

Que grande!
"Just some know-it-all

How to build a team........."
Pretty much sums up the only sane attitude anyone can have vs. the utterly disturbed insanity of modern corporate "culture".
