    I'm pretty excited for this one. Went out and bought various lengths of pvc pipe. For multiple size mandrels. And bought ALL the set screws the hardware store had. I also bought a tap and die set for making the threads in the pipe.
    Will be Maki g one later today after work to try it out. Thanks once again for another great tutorial!

    I am hoping that the combination of your instructions and the mandrel will make it possible for me to finally be able to tie a globe knot. Thanks!

    if I know the diameter of the ball, how do I calculate the length of the rope to braid it in this way?

  • @ВладСамойлов-д1д

    share patterns of weaving, or tell me where to get them? I understand they can be very diverse! Thanks for your vids!

      Hey!
      I will be covering quite a few globe knots here. The number one book on this topic is the Globe knot cookbook, which at the moment is not being sold.
      I recommend joining the Facebook group Globe knot greatness. Some nice knots there.
      Kind greetings,
      Mark

    Your English is excellent, just like your cordage skills and the knowledge you're sharing, but im curious about where you're from because I cannot work it out from your accent.
    Would you share that with us, please? Nothing too close, of course, just a general area. I'm in Scotland, by the way, just so I'm not asking you to share more than I'm willing to share :)

    Anyone know how to get A copy of the “Globe Knot Cookbook”? Don Burrhus doesn’t seem to be selling/distributing it anymore through his site.

    Where can you get the Globeknot Cookbook?
    Don Burrhus (author) no longer offers it

      Sadly Don does not offer it at the moment. I am hoping he will do so in the future. Finding a used copy is your best bet, but it is very rarely found.

      An IGKT member who has spoken to him directly said that he said he had lots of ideas for new books. One hopes that that means that he will also resume selling the books he previously published as well.

    Briefly, are you able to tell me the difference between a globe knot and a Turks head since both can be tied in a mandrill”. Thank you.

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  Рік тому +1

      Well, they are both similar in many ways. The globe knot in general has many more nested bights (which do not show on the sides). As such the globe knot is an excellent covering knot for many shapes of objects. Secondly, the globe knot is usually designed to have 3 or 4 sided gaps in the knot, which are again ideal for covering knots.

      @@Paracordguild So a cylinder covering rather than an 3D or all around covering. And a pineapple or casa are the knots within the knots. Thank you.

      You can make a simple one with a Pringles can covered with a piece of paper, and using T-pins or something similar.

    • @tanalee229
      @tanalee229 Рік тому

      I'd recommend putting both column numbers near the edges of the jig. Otherwise they get covered up by the cord.

    Did this with 550 paracord and 1 1/4 PVC pipe. What a time consuming project this was. No idea how much cord I used though

    Use a core (smaller than the jig) as close to the size of the jig as possible, so you don't spend the rest of your life tightening. : )
