So cool to see you collab with some super elite powerlifters. I am myself a powerlifter but even your weightlifting content is always appealing, even thought I never C&J or snatched any weight.
I can remember Candito squatting 220kg for a grindy triple, and more or less being the authority on squats on this platform at the time, almost a decade ago. Now tested women in a similar weight are getting closer to these numbers. The growth/evolution has been fun to watch in real time.
To me the growth has mainly been depressing. I know I have never a chance at competing at all. No matter what you do if you don't have elite genetics you have no chance.
@@drschwandi3687 would you go play a game of basketball knowing you could never be in the NBA?…Don’t worry about if you’ll ever be some sort of champion. Go compete… it’s fun!!!
This video was so fun I had to watch it again, and I just noticed that her shoulder mobility is out-of-this-world haha she grips the bar like you would for a high bar yet she's doing it for a low bar
omar sponsors jessica via raskol and is doing some project in austin for the brand w Jess (Austin is where zack lives, who is omar’s friend) and this brought Jesus and Pabs out from some nearby Texas city (i forget where they live, san antonio?) who he met in Sheffield. only question remaining is why was omar wearing a belt for spotting 😂
And remember, this rad chick deals with diabetes while being a badass lifter. I have friends who have young kids who are T1 and the amount of additional work each day is nuts. Also when she leans down, sheesh. And she does that again, while being diabetic. Crazy.
The issue isn't really the leaning down, what I had issues with was keeping a level blood sugar level while working out. The sensors help a ton but still it's a hassle to eat half a banana every 15 minutes. Doing it at world class level would be worse when every fluctuation is the difference between winning and placing 10th.
Jessica Buettner is about 5kg heavier than me, and I honestly think, that if I could just gain 20kg of pure lean contractile tissue, that I could be 3/4 as strong as her. Maybe. And that’s a huge “maybe”...(and by “huge”, I mean: not a snowballs chance in hell). She’s so fucking strong!
@@jmart1393 No amount of gear would ever make up for my age, or sheer lack of athletic talent. The only thing it would increase significantly is the rate that I’m balding.
Awesome to see you got Jessica on camera and that you trained together! :)) It´s not away from anyone other than Jess´ competitors in same weight class, if she is very strong! :D Very motivating to see what on top of other things consistency can do. I should try it too..
4:20 Lmao. Can we please find out the place where they make the Omars and ask them to make many, many more? The world is in desperate need. This is a cry for help.
I NEED people like Omar as a regular gym bro I can meet up with. a person who acknowledge the meaninglessness of existence, yet fights everyday to become stronger while joking about it. a nihilist, but also not a nihilist doomer type of guy ya know
She's a bloody legend! Reminds me of Courtney Dauwalter a little in that they both dominate in their chosen fields but have such a genuine, laid back attitude about it. Awesome stuff.
As a youth lifter, I was told flat side out so that when you grab the plate your fingers grab the edges of the plate and you have a sure grip on it. This was 30+ years ago.
Hey Zach, how would you approach someone who constantly deals with muscle spasms in their back. Everything out there tells me I am over training but I hear from every major lifter, you gotta do this stuff every day. I drink a gallon of water daily, do yoga, and do a lot of preventative work but still get hit with tight muscles and muscle spasms.
You may be deficient in something like magnesium or salt May be worth adding a couple extra pinches of salt with your meals and getting a magnesium supplement, should be relatively inexpensive
Bro stretch your mid traps and hamstrings because the most common causes is tight hamstrings and lack of water but most of all go see a doctor because none of us are doctors.
@@sethwood1676 I do stretch those, during yoga. The reason I asked him specifically is because let's be honest, a doctor can only tell you so much. They do not live this lifestyle. He has been doing this a very long time and has also trained a lot of people. He has lived the weightlifting life. Many of the things pro's do is the complete opposite of what a doctor would tell you to do. That is why I asked for his insight, not a doctor's recommendation.
Is it painful spasms? If so go see a doctor. Find doctors/PT's who specialize in strength training. I recommend Barbell Medicine for instance. If it's not painful, then don't worry about it so much.
in powerlifting comps you face the first one inwards then the rest outwards, believe it is so the plate brand and weight is visible on both sides (moreso the brand, for it to look good in pictures and such) and so powerlifters load them like that to be comp-specific
I mean Zack is perfectly capable of 250+ kg squat, he just needs to work on that powerlifter-style technique and eat more to grow some muscles on that frame.
I'm happy to see y'all squatting deep and being a little more bent over. I tend to bend over on my squat, especially on higher weight, and I get flak from my friends like you're supposed to stay straight up. I just can't. I have a long torso and short legs.
