The best muslim you can be is praying 5 times a day. Just have to keep striving for it. The prayer is what will save you, the gold and stuff like that is ofcourse important but the prayer is what takes you to jannah if you have it in order. May Allah make it easy for you and us all Aameen.
I only wear silver as well and I reverted in 08. I saw a study a few years later that wasn't religious stating that gold was linked to cancer or skin problems while men wear it specifically. I didn't dig deep enough into the study but I would imagine there's a reason we shouldn't wear it...
