I'm still totally amazed that these three women have the sheer nerve to get on stage and belt out Ramones songs. They are just incredible, brilliant, amazing, etc.
Even though it will be great to see Atsuko back with the band, I am really going to miss Ritsuko during her maternity leave. I hope she can rejoin the band soon. And, congratulations to Ritsuko.
At 52, Naoko still kicks serious guitar ass! They opened for Nirvana on a European tour...Cobain became an instant SK groupie. They have also performed with CJ Ramone. And hey, how may punk bands do you see smile that much? BTW, I am 11 years older than Naoko...wonder if she is married? LOL
I remember Ritsuko’s bass headstock well. I had been smacked in the head several times in shows of that time. Not on purpose mind you. Ritsuko just playing in her wild child way and me upfront at the stage. Also got several guitar picks launched to me like shuriken. I could swear it was like being in a ninja movie. Love this SK line up playing live. So tight, joyful and ripe. Peak Shonen Knife IMO.
