I was just telling my friend last night that my life isn’t how I envisioned it as it’s been a source of depression/discouragement and in my feed an hour later, this sermon pops up.
The vulnerability in this sermon is just paramount. Pastors don’t usually go beyond surface level of what they’ve been able to deal with.
There’s just one example that I’m still wrestling with from this sermon…whenever a spouse comes up… “he who finds a spouse finds a good thing.” It is not promised. If you find it, great; but there may be people still left with the desire and never find their person.
I’ve had to come to terms at 39 that it may just not happen for me. I’m allergic to cats and dogs, so any type of “companion” is really out of the question. God doesn’t wish for “isolation,” but an empty house sure does feel like it.
Any way to combat these thoughts that wouldn’t be lying to myself with a false hope?
I've felt this very way for several years now, recently relocated, and also allergic to pets (sadly). I've heard and understand you don't need a spouse to make you whole but as you mentioned, an empty house can feel isolating when you do have a desire to have a family of some kind. Over the last few months I've been trying to see my life from a different light..that maybe it's not the people in my home that make a family but the ones outside of it. Joining a small group, trying to make friends, helping others, and asking the Lord for strength while I seek a partner only in his will. Prayers for you, you're not alone. ❤
I was so strung out on drugs and in the point of suicide thats when i met jesus, a few minutes before i ended my life . 2 years later nobody can tell me nothing necauseeeeeee the zeal for life is unbeliveable . I was on medication for 28 years for bipolar. And on that very day God said get off all. 2 years later , no bipolar episode, no medication, no suicidal Thoughts.
I had given up on myself but i had people praying for me. Those very people who prayed for me, now they say ' God dont speak like that ' because God changed my life in a way i cannot explain.
That very same God that has cleared my mind, He will do the same for your brother .
Ps i haven't listend to this church in over a year because i only listen to sermons i have been directed to listen to. So when i say God has Heard!!!!!!! Your Brother will be that Light to others like him. Sometimes addicts need someone who was like them , for them to beleive you can be transformed.

I'll keep waiting on God for my miracle even though it seems impossible, even though I'm tired, even though I feel like a fool for holding on sometimes, and even though I want to give up.
It will happen. He is a promise keeper, way maker, miracle worker. He never loses!
