3 years ago they were euthanising them in western Victoria because the forests there were overpopulated and they were starving to death. The irony is this overpopulation was because of a lack of major fires in the area over the past decades, which usually keeps their numbers in check.
@@simonlavelle5572 Eucalyptus actually survive intense fires. They have special shoots in the trunks or roots that sprout back after being totally burned. They also have seeds which can only sprout after being burned. The whole tree itself is flammable... from the bark, to the leaves, and even the sap inside. But none of that compares to people with guns, we have few, you have far too many. Overall Australia is much safer than the US. If you're not American then my apologies. But you're still wrong.
M J - this is some hysterical nonsense if ever I’ve seen it. We are experiencing a natural disaster, the same way regions can experience floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, monsoons, volcanic eruptions, landslides and on and on. In terms of wildlife? Simon Lavelle 30*
@@ayy1654 Oh..I thought it was much more limited than 30.
Still, I don't think Australia will fully recover from this. This fire is so intense that the sap of the trees has boiled and the ground was super heated for more than a metre deep. I think we're going to have more koalas in captivity than in the wild after this.
The area north east of Melbourne was completely burned 10 years ago in an inferno. Now the eucalyptus there that were incinerated have grown back their leaf canopies.
If there are trees in Hell, it would be these trees.

Most species are able to get away on time from the fires, unlike koala's who are slow on their feet on the ground due to the fact that they live in trees most of their life. But none of that compares to people with guns, we have few, you have far too many. Overall Australia is much safer than the US. If you're not American then my apologies. But you're still wrong.
@M J just shut up mate
M J - this is some hysterical nonsense if ever I’ve seen it. We are experiencing a natural disaster, the same way regions can experience floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, monsoons, volcanic eruptions, landslides and on and on. In terms of wildlife? Grow a pair, deaths from spiders and snakes are minuscule. Bees by far kill more people a year than snakes, spiders and sharks combined.
