Incidentally, talcum powder makes a surprisingly good lubricant for small wooden toys too, especially for wood-on-wood axles and bearings. Cheers mate and thanks again.

I knew about Shellac for over 40 years, but for some reason I never tried any. I made 2 oak bookcases using an 1850 English design, and I tried Shellac to keep the bookcases more period correct, and I really liked the Shellac, so I am using it on many of my projects.
