Authentic Wild West Experience: 3-Days Cowboy Camping-Shelter Building (Ep.4)

- Join me in recreating life in the old west. My chuck wagon and I are on a mission to homestead Oklahoma the way it was done in 1883. With a good set of pioneer tools and a little bushcraft knowhow I'll struggle my way through this and hopefully survive the winter.
In this episode I secure all the rafters. Cutting down this many cedar trees took an incredible amount of time and I can't tell you how much I hate cedar trees. I can't wait until I can lay down at night in a cozy hay bed and look up at a roof made of dead cedars.
Thank you for watching and if you enjoy the video please remember to give it a thumbs up!
God bless,
Will
Thank you for checking out my brand new UA-cam channel!
I’ve got a lot of exciting videos planned for my pioneer homestead and
I’d love your feedback so please leave a comment. God bless.
Living every man’s dream
And every woman who loves the old days too. I know I do.
That was great, scenery, clothes, everything, I really felt like I was teleported back in time to the 1800's
Hello here from Romania I greet you with respect Marius 🙋🙏🤠🇹🇩
I hear Romania is beautiful, I'd love to visit one day.
This is the content the people NEED

Amazing Video wow🌺💐👍🏻
Your Hard work shows In the Video Bravo👏👍🏻
I would love to hear you say one day, "Pardon me old bones, I gotta sit here for a'little while longer"
Hello Mr. Western Pioneer I'm new here and i'm from philippines your video it's truly amazing
Thank you so much! It looks like you've got a really nice channel as well!
Even if there are some inconsistencies such as the food your eating, and your SOCKS; I am enjoying the show. Even more when you mentioned this is Oklahoma.
Thanks for all your comments and advice today. But you were not supposed to notice the socks! Haha I do have two different pairs of period correct socks but they both give me blisters, I'm not nearly as tough as the real old school pioneers.
I'm looking forward to watching your next video in a few days time.
Thank you I think this is my best one yet.
I just happened across your video, very enjoyable!! Looking forward to more! New sub in Tennessee!
Welcome!!!
These episodes just keep getting better! I really enjoyed watching this one.
Great Job👏🏼

Brazil loves you 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
All this episode is missing is the good old house building song. Really felt like I was watching John Marston

Grazie mille!
I love this , finally a bushcraft video from out west , where I'm from , yay !! ❤
Your cinematography is amazing! Can’t wait to see the sod house completed. GREAT JOB!
Love what you're doing! I would love to be doing the same thing. That said, I think you may need another support in the middle of that top plate.
You're right I might need to do that, especially once I start putting sod on the roof. I'll keep an eye on it for sure. Thank you!
Unique way to cook in the kitchen
Just found the channel, and I love it!❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Great Video, blessings from México

Stumbled across one of your videos. Now playing catch up. Clearly ya understand bit about videography. And learned one of keys to stress-free living . . . everything has its place and everything kept in that place. ;-) Thanks and good luck!

Hai un amico in più a gela sicily Italy ❤❤❤❤far west 😊😊😊
Io amo l'Italia (I hope that says I love Italy)
Hi, and konbanwa, Mr pioneer!
Whereabouts are you pioneering ?
I just came across with your channel and have been deeply impressed by the awesome style of a UA-camr ; the covered wagon, of which folding table, the red wheels, and so on, looks as if you were in the west in the old years and harsh days.
I live on, a collina del mare, a southern coast of Kyushuh, Japan, facing the ocean in the west. I’ll keep watching your channel from Japan, and look forward to your episodes to come up.
My silly question is , What is your gun for ? I believe it isn’t for animal predators or human beings.
It’s 20:47 March 18, 2024, and good night.
Thank you so much! I'm in Oklahoma and there actually are some predators in the area, I've seen rattle snakes, coyote, bobcat, and I believe I've seen some mountain lion prints, all here on the property. I probably don't need the gun but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Super awesome video thanks. I personally would like to see you cook. Right now I can't see. I was wondering where you get your food from. Blessings from South Africa 🌍🇿🇦💌🙏👍
Right now I'm bringing in food with a modern day cooler but as time goes on I'll try to be more historically accurate.
Nice video nothing like living like a frontiersman in the West too bad you didn't have a horse and I sure would like to hear that pistol. Makes me want to buy a piece of land and build one cabin myself
Do it! It's been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done and I can't wait to start decorating the cabin when it's done. Maybe in a future I'll do some target shooting, I love those scenes in old westerns.
Gostei, parabéns! Mais um inscrito
Woooow
❤
I like the video! But even if I didn’t the effort would deserve a like atleast, I love this stuff so I subbed tho, I used to make so many random shelters in the rural south on my dads land more trees less people it’s awesome, best thing to do when your not allowed to play video games lol
Thank you, growing up I wasn't allowed to play video games either so I did the same, play in the woods!
I think you could of use another brace for the roof line, while you were standing sawing.
Yeah it got a little shaky up there. The roof has a lot more support in my newer videos.
só falta o Cavalo .
👍👍👍👍👍From🇸🇪
I love your outfit and work you do!!!!! I live in sweden and I love The old Western life!!!!!👍👍👍👍🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Успехов!
Everything is wonderfull but where is your horses
One day I hope I can afford horses because I'd love to have them in my videos.
@@WesternPioneer I felt like horses were missing too. A team with harness hobbled nearby the wagon maybe. Can't wait for them to be included. This is certainly a different angle to the shelter building videos. Just found you this morning. 🙂
Is that what might be called a "half-dugout"? Thanks for the video.
I see the wagon but no horses were they out in pasture
Those who have nothing better than to bitch about every project are simply buffoons and hypocrites! Armchair clowns who never grew up and continue to bully others. Well Western Pioneer keep sharing your work there are millions like me that enjoy and appreciate your site.😊Blessings and much respect. Your channel will continue to grow .Cheers.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that and I will absolutely continue to make videos.
Subscribe done..peacefully place
how about on the next post you do a draw of your gun then you fire a couple of shots as if you did see an intruder in the bushes, that would make an authentic way of behaving
What is the orange thing? Sweet potato? Also how are you keeping the meat from spoiling? What about water? Are boiling it from the water source?
Yes it's a sweet potato. Right now have a modern day cooler to keep my meat from spoiling. Often the pioneers would just put their meat in their barrel full of drinking water to keep it from spoiling, I don't want to die of dysentery. Once I'm further along with the cabin build I can divert more attention to preserving meats.
I think you need a smaller ax to prune, you spend more effort with that big axe, by the way your video is great
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind.
Did they use the fork back then? Wasn't it just knife and spoon?
They did have them, this knife and fork set I'm using is actually from the Civil War. But the fork isn't that effective so maybe they weren't as popular as they are today.
❤❤❤
Hey brother. Is that a Rinaldi axe?
It does look like one. Funny enough this axe is Soviet military from the cold war.
where the horses?
What type of cloth are you using to start your fire?
I believe it's 100% cotton that's been charred.
@@WesternPioneer thank you so much.
The first shelters were known as soddies. Clumps of prairie sod cut and stacked to make crude dugout shelter`s. This place is a delusion of grandeur, over sized and would be impossible to finish by winter. The hole likely took 3 days to dig. If he gets a fireplace up and running and wood stacked he might stand a chance of making it till spring. Then what? What is the water source and what about a latrine. Survival is more than hacking away at some wood.
What I'm doing is less about survival and more about homesteading. This home is 14'x15' so it's smaller than the average sod house of the time period. I've already put up the sod walls, you'll be able to see that in the next video that I'll post hopefully next weekend so the whole home will be done long before winter hits. You can see the water sources in the other videos if you'd like to watch more, I hope you stick around.
💜❣️♥️💙💖❤️😇💝🤍
Your supposed to have a Bowie knife to got damn it
100% correct. Trust me I'm looking for one.
Did you eat your horse?
I'm always hungry but not that hungry lol
What revolver do you have there??
It is a Colt 45 but there is no brand name on it. I bought it from a guy who's father was a Western television actor in the 1940-50's. Apparently he was given this pistol on his last day of filming as a gift. I wish I knew what shows this revolver appeared in, I'm sure it was used for decades with how worn it is.
Algoritmo
where are the horses ?
I can't wait until I'm able to afford horses for my videos.
at least you didn't eat them, I was concerned
hahahaha @@roademut
What gun do you carry?
It's a Colt. This specific one was used in Hollywood in the 1940-50's for television westerns. I got it at a yard sale lol
@@WesternPioneer A colt for a pioneer, its fitting.
RDR2 live action

:)
This is awesome!
Looking forward to it. We'll all start spreading your channel around. Good clean healthy content. Good luck my friend. It might take awhile to get a big following, But just like my Email address says,,, Never Quit !! It will all eventually come together. Really looking forward to the house build as its in my blood ( building ) as im sure many other folks too. Watch out for the critters that bite to say hello. Have you thought about a small tent with screen roof to see the sky at night but keeps the critters out of the bedroll ? We all out here could probably come up w enough bucko's to pitch in I would think if it helped..?? I'm on SSDI , disabled on fixed income But I think i could afford couple bucks here and there if you need it brother. Stay Safe Stay Positive Healthy and Blessed. Amen

Thank you, I'm so happy you're enjoying my videos Big Jim, I absolutely love making them and I'm so happy to make good clean healthy content. I was an actor in Los Angeles for a long time and most of the stuff Hollywood makes isn't family friendly, I'm glad to be doing something different. I like that screen roof idea, it's funny when I'm out late at night I keep seeing Elon Musks satellites stretch across the sky.
I have all those tools, so I guess I could do that too, if I wasn't so lazy. I always wanted to be a cowboy. Appreciate your videos.
Amazing video. Gives me Red Dead Redemption 2 vibes. Good job man! +1 sub
Hey thank you! I'm actually a subscriber to your channel, you do amazing work so it means a lot to me that you enjoyed my video. It's an honor.
@@WesternPioneer Thank you so much for this words. You really deserve everything good
