Only issue with the process is that when the coolant started going in - it pushed the air in the fill line into the system. You could have cracked the fill line, drawn coolant up the the valve, then pulled more vacuum to get air out then filled.

Nope...but you can block off the exhaust side of the tool and pull a hose of or pull the petcock and you can "air-dry" the cooling system.... I doubt its recommended but works great...

Soooooo...technically you can but I wouldn't recommend it...what I've done in the past is drain the system, leave off the lower hose and block the exit on the tool, this forces the air backwards and "air drys" the rad, you can do the same with the block and heater core etc.... but you need to be careful you could do some damage... nowhere on the tool is this recommend but yes its very possible...cheers

It's not designed to aid with draining BUT you can use it as a reverse venturi with the rad open somewhere else (ie pull a coolant hose off) and it will blast out coolant but definitely not recommended...

The chains are to hang the tool from the hood and you can read the meter easily and avoid sucking air like you did. Shit it down before you suck air and change bottles. Ok?
When your done pressure test the actual radiator cap and Bob's your uncle.
Because you sucked air you should bleed the system.

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop

Go to the back of the class and don't be so silly..... I've explained this already to the keyboard wankers... OK ? and open your ears, I stated that my hood was new and had no latches on it to use the chains... FFS... experience will let you know there is no need to prefill the suction pipe, it's a complete waste of time, this tool is NOT a replacement for bleeding your system, it just makes that process more efficient, with minimal chances of trapping air in your system.... What could be the reason? Do i need higher air pressure?

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop
      @JohnnysSpeedShop  Рік тому

is it holding at 40 ? is not you have a leak, I think 50 to 60 is around 10 PSI, sounds about right, if it's bleeding off this tool would not work and you have an issue in the system.
Check if you have an expansion tank with a bleed off hose that could be where you are losing vacuum.

I had a similar issue with a B5 - V6 VW Passat, was a right pain, you have to remove the expansion tank, raise it above the engine and open 2 bleeders (lower and upper) was a right pain.... .....Shouldn't you crack the fill line so it gets charged with fluid. Then re pull a vacuum to remove all that oxygen you just put into the system? Seems pretty counter intuitive to go through all that work to reintroduce a pocket of air back into the system. If you're going to spend $200 on this kit, why half ass it?
This is the same principle of recharging an A/C, you purge any air from the fill line to make sure it's all freon in the line. As to not have any air be reintroduced into the system.
**Fauci's voice** It's just common sense!

    • @JohnnysSpeedShop

It's not needed, yes you can do that but experience will tell you it's a waste of effort.. you will always need to manually check after filling and no vacnum tool removes all the air, so that small amount in the house is immaterial....cheers for watching

@@JohnnysSpeedShop What If you're servicing a vehicle equipped with a rear heater core? Wouldn't that pocket of air get pushed back there? I'd think so. Using this tool, I'd want the piece of mind knowing all air was evacuated out of the system before introducing coolant back in.
Regardless, this is defiantly a must have for servicing cooling systems! You should throw up an affiliate link for your subscribers to make some ka ching!! lol.

@@NathanClevenger1337 almost all cars/ trucks etc... self bleed, you should never rely on this tool for a 100% fill, I've used this on a B5 Passat where the procedure is to pull the expansion tank and raise it several inches while filling for the self bleed, using this tool that's not even needed...lol it works very very well but it's not 100%, no tool is, you should always let the car self bleed and check again after next heat cycle, that's why the small amount of air in the line doesn't matter, it must be checked after the car has heat cycled.
      cheers
